Wish this game was a massive expansion to CotW. Having an all-encompassing outdoors game would be amazing
I used to play a cabelas game when I was about 9 If I remember correctly it was cabelas outdoor adventures. That game was great but I was also really little 😂
Needs another year of development. I miss when devs released full games. Instead we get this "early access" shell of a game until they update it enough to be worth buying

after watching gameplay I'm kind of worried, the game seems way too easy, a bunch of videos I was watching had people pulling 8 lb golden and 10 lb bass like it was nothing. Another thing is that there are not any graphs which is worrying. The fish also don't seem to correlate to structure much. There are random pike and trout swimming around the lake around the top of the water column in like 115 feet of water. Not to mention the guy in the video I was watching was catching trout with 55 lb braid, which is never going to happen irl. Idk what do you guys think

Yes, there are too many big fish, and why does the small mountain-ponds have 20 pound diamond trout??!? In real life fish like that can only be found in huge lakes. And also I think it's weird that spinnerbaits and poppers are the most viable trout lures in this game, spinnerbaits and poppers are made for bass and pike.
@@bebrageren2587 I know, the devs claimed they spoke with real world anglers, but I find this really unlikely. And like others have mentioned the way he holds a baitcaster is a travesty

Yeah that’s exactly how I’m feeling. They talked so much about how much detail the put into fish spawning for them to just be all over the place. Not to mention there is no fisherman that stares at their rod the entire time they fight a fish.

Why are they just handing out diamond fish everywhere?
The fishing itself looks great, the rod movement etc.
But wtf is everything else? Every youtuber who had this is catching diamonds like crazy....
The way you can just see the fish chilling on the surface of the water is a crazy immersion killer. They should make it so that there's more so the *hint* of a fish in the area (ripples, small glimpses of colour, splashing and jumping) than just having the fish floating there.
you think they will add a trophy lodge system to this game as they do in the hunter? or something a little different like a big aquarium almost like the ones in bass pro shops?
I'm not Flinter (obviously), but I think its a possibility. it's going to really affect the replayability in the long run if they decide not to, that's for sure. Dont quote me on this, but I believe on one of the streams they did a few months back they mentioned that its something they were considering in the future.
Devs said there aren't plans for a trophy lodge as people normally take pictures to show off their fish, but they said they would think ab adding it if that's what the community would like
I think expansive worlds said no because they want us to focus on catch and release but I think they forgot replica mounts are the main fishing mount
This game makes me want to hit the river, god i love fishing. The feeling of the twitch on the line when a fish is biting just makes me have a warm glow inside, its one of lifes greatest feelings.
For real for real. I'm getting ready to go fishing and release another banger video. I literally fish and film daily. Fishing is life.

The graphics and gameplay are not what I was expecting for an open world game

I'm so torn on this game... I feel like most fishing games are "halfway" there, but I haven't found a game that had everything (great graphics, open world, natural fishing mechanics, etc). And by all the vids talking about features they'd like to see down the road it really places this game in the halfway group even before its out! This will be a first for me but I hope they consider pushing back the launch. I would love to see this game succeed like theHunter but right now it looks like a fishing dlc for My Summer Car lol
Expansive worlds are renound for listening to their community and giving out updates for their game long after it’s launch. It’s been 5 years since they released hunter and they’re still updating it. Give the game a chance.
@@rattings9121 I’m a big EW supporter, 1,000+ hrs on theHunter! I know they will make a great fishing game! I just question how early a game should be released before it meets a lot of the community’s expectations? I’m looking forward to seeing how it ends up!
@@robertnock8260 that’s where they will succeed. When they release they will squash the bugs reported, assess the community’s wish list, and build their road map. I have faith in EW and I truly believe they will make the best fishing game
I'm hoping they cross over the games and you can fish and hunt at places from both games.

I'm still excited for this game, but the fishing action itself seems... off. I've got faith that the game will improve over time, just like CotW did. But the player models are *terrible* and there are just too many fish that are far too easily caught.

You'd think because you're actually going to be seeing your character quite a lot, like every single fish you catch, that they'd make they look good. I don't know why they're so bad, in COTW they're not even this bad, not amazing but the Remi Warren character model I actually think looks good for what it is. Such a shame to have the models look so terrible since we'd be staring at them constantly

From what I've been seeing and reading in comments, this game seems to be a sub par fishing sim with a huge, beautiful map. Guess it could be good depending on what you're looking for

Should have been a big dlc for hunter call of the wild, there’s a lot of content in this I’d love in hunter.
Needs better character models, fish models, underwater views, better camera when fighting, more skill to catching fish (seems like every cast is a fish, that's lame). The map looks good, but everything else can use a lot of work.
As has been said, there's multiple free options out there that put this to shame.
And money needs to be harder to get because flinter had more than enough for the best rod after 6 hours, to me thats pathetic 😂
Game looks decent enough, nothing too ground breaking and needs some tweaks but it's a decent looking foundation. One thing I really appreciate as a actual angler, is the fish seem to fight. Nothing irritates me more than landing 20lb+ fish on light tackle in less than a minute every single time. I live for the fight, even if I lose a fish, it's the fight that keeps me coming back so I appreciate they have put some effort in there. It needs some fine tuning, especially the animations but as long as it provokes that adrenaline rush of making those split second decisions during that fight, then I'm in.
This seems to be a great game, but it’s got a lot to go before it gets top tier. Seems like it’s gonna be like how The Hunter was between launch and about a year after. Look forward to when all the patches get made and this game turns into a masterpiece. (Also would people stop complaining and saying this game is terrible? There are few sims that are great at launch.)
i hope they can make the fishing mechanics as good as in Russian fishing 4

In real life, in order to catch my golden trout I had to climb several hundred vertical feet to 11,000 plus elevations. Then I had to use the smallest possible worm hook, 2 pound mono and a quarter of a worm on an invisible bobber. Not exactly like the game. However, I appreciate Flinter for showing it to us and I understand it isn't supposed to be exactly like fishing.
Dang for me to catch my trout I just travel 7 minutes drop the hook and not even a second later there's a trout on my line. Lol my videos don't lie.
If the mechanics are like RL or other fishing games, stop reeling when the fish runs and just keep tension on the rod. Reeling when the drag is slipping causes it to slip more, and thus lets more line out. Once he stops running, then start reeling again. Try it and see if it helps in this game.

@@the.mr.schrader Yeah you prob like cotw over classic. It's not what people want and steam reviews show it. Whether you enjoy the game or not it's undeniable that fishing plant has years of dev time more and is wayyyy more of a game than the call of the angler.

Still, COTW Was A Pretty Buggy, Unrealistic, And All Around Bad Game When It Released Until About 2019. theAngler Simply Has To Add More Maps, Tweak Some Things, Maybe Make The Fish Act More Realistically. It’s Already Passed Fishing Planet All Together Simply Because Of How Much Better The Graphics Are. Also, The Game Has Improved Significantly Since This Video Came Out. Fishing Planet Is A Game That Not only Looks Like A Pile Of Horse Shit, But Runs Like One Too.
@@the.mr.schrader Play what you want, but I own both and a working computer, so imma stick to what I enjoy. I would urge you to look at the technical side of each of these games and it's clear which one is better I've had 3 and 4 hour fights fishing under tackle in fishing planet and it is one of the select games I have thrown time at like classic due to it's long game play loop and seeming endless level system. Not to mention that fishing planet has a better comp system then both classic, cotw or cota with actually knockout style tournaments. Also graphically all the cotw titles are going to be cartoon-like, one of my biggest reasons for staying on classic, it has better graphics if you enjoy its graphics more. Fishing planet isn't an ugly game when cranked. If you are playing any of these on console I'm sure they are all terrible experiences. It's the same argument for classic vs cotw do you want a fishing simulator or a fishing game both of these are significantly closer to games then fishing simulators in comparison to irl, but fishing planet is a little closer and I enjoy it more. Also please lay off the shift button you'll get carpal tunnel syndrome.

Whenever I've caught a pike, it's always been when I'm going for bass. They just hit any lure I've used. Good to see the game is kinda mimicking real life pretty good.

That’s awesome they have pike, do they have Muskie? And for anyone complaining about this game being easy, fishing irl isn’t exactly the easiest to do. It’s easy in concept but there’s many times you’ll get skunked. So it’ll be nice after an unsuccessful day on the lake to pull stuff on this game.
I hope there ends up being more than 12 species of fish in some updates. Also maybe an underwater camera angle. I'm curious about the RNG in this one as well
its def a % type rng and thank god theres more fish out now
2:43 it’s probably a mechanic that mimics when fish dive down into a thicket of weeds, which often dislodges the hook or causes the line to break
I wish it were more realistic and had devs who actually knew how to fish. they have bass jumping like mahi 😂. the fishing gameplay feels like a mobile game
this game should have been dlc for their hunting game
And btw, I hope they change the pose for the pictures. Anyone who takes a picture IRL with a largemouth bass holds him by the bottom lip. No one holds him like a loaf of bread.
The music for the compilation at 17:00 caught me off guard, badass!
It looks to me like the reason they have the camera constantly follow the end of the rod is because the fish movement and action in the water is really terrible, so they have the camera purposefully look away from that in order to hide it. Not good at all. And nowhere near realistic. I consider myself a very experienced fisherman in real life, and I certainly don't watch the end of the rod while I'm fighting a fish. And the fish swimming near the surface constantly is dumb as well. Very unrealistic. Those two issues alone might prevent me from getting the game, if they don't change them.
The fact you can throw poppers with treble hooks on them into thick cover too? Very unrealistic. You cant get snagged in this game.

Use a heavier jig and a grub and just jig it off the bottom don’t real it in. Just jig it a foot or so off bottom constantly till you get a strike
Looks like a great game for getting high, putting on some music, and walking around. Not really interested in the actual gameplay, at least not yet, but the map looks pretty.
You'd probably like Call of the Wild or Way of the Hunter (AFTER they fix the latter)
@@peterf9006 been playing both since their respective launches, and Classic before that. I was hoping for a really good fishing game, and maybe this will get there, but for now it just seems like a decent open world walking simulator with some other stuff attached.

I think if they aren’t gonna add a trophy lodge for now a scrap book or photo album that have the photo and maybe the stats under would be nice.
That’s being said be patience good things take time and if I remember the hunter classic wasn’t perfect on launch either just give them time exspansive worlds really does try to listen to the community

Does it keep track of the PB for each lure, or is it broken? With your two diamonds the first was 4.59 and the second still showed bigger even though it was 4.05
fishing planet looks way better, I would expect the devs to have done better in 2022 than the makers of fishing planet did 5 years ago

Im mad about the bass why dont you lip them also why are 5-10 pounders so common like idk its a good game good concept but they missed some key features that are really easy to add
I kind of dislike the fact at 06:20 for example the fish is at 3.5m deep but the water surface goes crazy.

Mels Gaming put out a video today about the diamond rainbow trout she caught. In the video it seemed like she was able to keep the camera focused on the fish so there must be a way to do it.

I can see now why there was such a long wait for gameplay videos. This game is not finished. It’s not ready for release. This is cotw launch all over again.
Map is stunning. Literally everything else is like a 90’s arcade. Shame on them.
Classic is still their best looking game, I don’t understand why they think arcade is the future.
And before you read this and say I don’t know what I’m talking about. I own cotw and can’t bring myself to play it vs classic.
Look at the player model, it’s laughable. The rods are pale in color. The fish look like stuffed animals.

Please, please Devs if you read this. Do not release this yet, it’s not the game we hoped for. Please fix it first.

@@toastyn_ yeah, its a first of its kind because people have been smart enough not to do one. A fishing game revolves around water, having an open world just adds a bunch of walking simulator gameplay.

This game is a big swing and a miss. They should work on upgrading their hunting game to compete with "way of the hunter".
The fish are way to slow, when a fish strikes a lure they should be moving really fast. Currently watching the trout hit the lure is absolutely terrible

They should really make the fish look bigger while in the water. Way more rods and reels types has to be added. The strike scene looks absolutely terrible. The rod sounds are just embarrasing. The camera angles and movement are just horrific. The way Flinter got the most expensive rod in the game after 6 hours is just boring and insane. They should really just take a look on Fishing planet and take some advice from that game since that one is free and WAY WAYY better looking and everything than this game. I love that they tried and i am going to buy the game but this is just embarrasing and then they ask us to pay for it? When they have fixed all that i mentioned i can actually feel good about purchasing this game. PLUS, the 7kg pike Flinter caught and the 7kg trout looked way too different in sizes to both weigh 7kg. If you were to say the pike weighed 7 kg and you would compare it with the trout next to it i think you would guess the trout weighed like 11kg. The movement of the fish while being caught is just (once again) terrible. The water physics are way off and bad looking. The way the character is holding the rod is just odd looking. I have fished alot and i have NEVER held my rods that way when walking, sure it might look better than not seeing the rod at all since it is a video game and most video games have it so you can see what you'rer holding but come on, not like that. Oh, and by the way, there should not be any water splashing sounds if the fish is under the water, in the game right now its all you can hear, splashing water from something that is 1 meter UNDER the water like wth? This game is NOT and i repeat, NOT ready for release. I dont know how much this game is going to cost, but if it is over 10 dollars and these things i mentioned arent fixed i will only feel bad for myself when purchasing.

What the heck is EW doing these days? Other commenters have already mentioned how unrealistic and silly this game is compared to real fishing. After 500 hours of CotW and now this, I've fully given up on them. Not spending another cent on their subpar, low effort, and utterly arcadey products.
On the other hand, WotH has been hands down the best hunting game in eons. I've found my new calling. Looking forward to more WotH content!

This game looks...not so good. All around looks like your standard free to play from graphics to animations and gameplay only to play this one you have to pay off the rip
