I've had two pairs of these now and they are absolutely my favorite pair of tennis shoes Ive tried. They are comfy, fast and durable. I love the lace garage feature, it really allows you to tighten them down. Anyway, great review and keep up the amazing breakdowns. Really appreciate your channel!
The only thing I concern on it is the shoes is heavy compared to Asics Solution Speed. For player who want to have light shoe this shoe is probably not recommended.
As an Athletic Trainer/Tennis Coach/Pickleball & Basketball Rec player, and a widefoot size 10.5, I really enjoyed your videos after discovering then last night had to subscribe because you know what you're talking about
One of the reasons why I moved away from the Gel Res 6 was because my plantar fasciitis got worse whenever I played with the 6's. I've since very much improved my flexibility and fitness, and never get pain on my heel/plantar foot anymore. Can't wait to move back to these shoes after my last pair of Ubersonic 3s wears out!
Stretching is the only sure fire way of getting rid of plantar fasciitis- glad you are able to keep it under control, it really can kill a lot of players - let me know how you like them!
I got a pair today and I have plantar fasciitis and supinating feet. So far the shoes have prevented most of the supinating. I'm as eager to see if they're good for the plantar fasciitis too
Had this shoe for 18 months. The shoe held up the whole time. It provided great support and cushioning. Was very heavy and the toe box was big on my size 12s. I went with a lighter shoe recenlty (NB 996V4) an it's much lighter... a LOT lighter.. but I did sacrifice a bit of comfort. But they are much faster on the court.
I’ve used this shoe a good amount of times, the traction is very nice, but the side of the shoe isn’t as durable if you slide a lot, put a small hole in the side of shoe from sliding. The shoe also doesn’t feel as cushioned on the area that surrounds the ankle(feel some rubbing on skin near front part of ankle where you tie shoes)...but overall the shoe is nice. The ASICS warranty is very nice too!
After trying all of them I’ve come around to the court ff 2 - I like the tech in the GR8 but for stability and comfort both I’m going with the ff every day
i just got my Gel resolution 8 wide. Size was correct, wide version fit perfectly. as soon as i put the shoe on, it felt comfortble, insanely comfortable, bit high on front of the shoe which is different from yonex shoes. Ankle didn't seem secure as i am used to with yonex. Otherwise very comfortable out of the box. i have to play test it on the court and see ankle is secure as it is with yonex.
@@FootDoctorZach what did you think about the ankle support ? did you think it was just as good as yonex PC ? I was bit worried cause once i put the custom orthotic in there, it will raise the heel area somewhat
@@FootDoctorZach play test will tell, but if unstable at ankle, that's not good. i am very high level doubles player that is very active at net. I make some violent twisting poaching movements at net and cover lobs and come down on my feet in very unstable way. If shoe is unstable at ankle during those jump landing moments, i will easily twist my ankle. Will have to see on the court how it feels
i did some jogging in the shoes today and it's not looking good. Heel of the shoes coming out or feels like it anyway. If i play tennis in this like this, it will be even worse i think. I may have to return it afterall. extremely disappointing.. i had such high hopes for this shoes. I may have to try the Ubersonic 2 afterall, that one seem to have better ankle support. probably have to buy 1/2 size up though
This channel is awesome! New subscriber and lifelong tennis bum here. I've worn almost all versions of the Gel Res with no issues over the years. However, the Dynawrap strap ends in the lacing system on these Gel Res 8's are annoying where they are stitched. The "knob" of strap material that is formed where the laces pass through the strap causes pressure on the top of my foot. The thin tongue doesn't help. Am I the only one that has noticed this? I have a pretty "normal" foot and have still been wearing them for a year now.
Thanks welcome to the community! Yeah those can irritate certain foot types for sure - I’ve heard that complaint from a few people - take it from a foot doc- no such thing as a normal foot 👍
I just tested the ASICS court ff, solution speed ff, solution speed ff2 clay, gel challenger 12 and the gel resolution 8 all in a row. I have a rather wide fore foot and the challenger 12 and the gel resolution 8 gave the most space at the front foot (gel challenger even more than the resolution). I’m more of a baseline player with lots of power, not going to the net often (I should do though ;)). I also gave all shoes to a top 250 ranked German player as well and he liked the gel resolution 8 most too, like me. The ASICS solution speeds series were light, but too narrow at the fore foot (the ff more narrow than the ff2) and I’m about 100kg and I felt they could break quite quickly. I did not feel the support I hoped for. The court ff felt a bit more narrow at the fore foot than the challenger 12 or the gel resolution, it was very comfortable but somehow I felt the shoe was too big and also ugly lol. I just didn’t feel dynamic with it, even though it did not feel bad. I just felt best in the gel resolution 8, loved the stability and I also loved the gel challenger 12 as it gave me lots of space in the fore foot, good stability but also it’s quite light :) I’m gonna use the gel challenger as all courts and the resolution 8 for clay now. I’m 190cm and about 100kg - rather muscular type
It would be interesting to hear your comment on the clay version vs the regular version. How much difference does that really make, and what compromises do you have to make on hard courts if you buy the clay court model?
I actually like their clay model they just aren’t available in a lot of places so I don’t really cover it- with any clay shoe a few things are going to happen on hard courts- the tread will burn out quicker due to less surface area and you are going to “stick” a little more so you have a chance of rolling potentially- that being said I like the feel of herringbone on hardcourts and I often wear “clay shoes” on hard like the adidas stycon boa because I like that sticky feeling so IMO if you are playing on both surfaces equally and the clay version is available then go for it the tread just won’t last as long on hardcourts
@@FootDoctorZach Makes sense - but interesting thing here is that the same 6-month outsole guarantee applies to the clay version, and they don't restrict it to clay courts. So durability is not really a concern as a compromise one has to make. This tempts me to go for the clay version every time.
Yep- remember though those clay shoes may have a durability guarantee but they will still wear in high impact places more than a hardcourt shoe so even tho the outsole may stil be instact it won’t be “optimal” like the hardcourt tread- but, yeah, I usually use clay shoes on hard and never really have any issues and if you like the clay model then I’d say go for it
You’re right that is such a cool feature- this shoe has so much going on it’s tough to keep it all square sometimes when I get on my rambling tangents about it- the orange pull tabs into the midsole is my favorite part- I spend a bit of time on them in the teardown video coming out soon- thanks for catching that!
Great video and insight. I personally haven't used these before so I am interested to know if this is a good option for high arch and bit of instep on my toes when I play and my current shoes are causing a lot of pain.
These aren’t the best for high arch feet - if you check out the latest video on them i show how to lace them for improved comfort but for a high arch if you’re on hard courts try the GP turbo or if you have a medium to narrow width the eclipsion 3s too
Hi there! Great review! What tennis shoes will you recommend for heel spur? I am looking at Nike Air Zoom Vapour Cage 4 and Asics Resolution 8. Which one is better with shoe inserts? As I will also get my orthotics soon. Thanks!
I am getting my pair today, hoping they fit a little better than the Solution Speed FF with the arches, but they might not. Thanks for doing all these videos.
I currently use the Asics Solution Speed FF and I’m considering switching shoes for my next pair. This video is definitely helpful for me as I’m looking at these shoes too. Maybe you could also do a review of the Solution Speed FF shoes.
Those and the Court FF have some design similarities it looks like - maybe ill do a comparison since now i'm interested in how the Court FF plays as well - thanks for the tip!
@@FootDoctorZach did this comparison ever happen? Have been using the FF’s for some time and considering a new pair as I believe they have stopped production of the FF’s.
Yep the new SSFF2 is the only one available Check them out here ruclips.net/video/celrqAKdBY4/видео.html - I may do another head to head with the court ff2 later in the fall
Dr. Zach, you said your right foot is a tad smaller, have you tried the special lace technique where you create a "Upside down U-shape" on the last 2 eyelet holes , then the left over string you cross the excess laces and swoop thru under the "u-shape" and tie a bow and then the top laces lock you in
Hello Zach, I hope you want to help me with some questions. Our son , 12 years old and weighing 43kg has problems with his Gel Resolution 8. Before he always wore the Asics gel game without any problems. Since switching he constantly has severe blistering on his heel. We have to tape to prevent that. We contacted a store and they advised to look at the solution swift, speed or the challenger line. This because the Gel Resolution is the most firm shoe and maybe to much for him. What would you choose? Is he not giving up on stability with those shoes? Maybe a different brand? Thank you in advance for your trouble. Antoine
How does the Gel Resolution 8 compared to the Asics court ff2 overall? Especially in cushioning. I currently wear the court ff2 after watching your reviews and it's the best tennis shoe I've ever worn. It seems like court ff2 and gel resolution 8 have alot in common what are the main differences?
Yeah that’s the tough part about making shoes for the public - everyone’s got a different shape and profile - you’re bound to make them uncomfortable for someone / great for someone else
I found with my friend who owns one too that many times it came off the feet while playing. You have to tie the shoelaces really tight. This is the only con i found
These aren’t the best for putting orthotics in as there can be heel slippage I’d go more toward the court ff 2 if you want to put an arch support in- otherwise if you don’t have an insert to put in it’s fine for flat and neutral feet
@@FootDoctorZach Hi..can you please tell which of the following shoes would be preferable to put in orthotics for a person with knee pain as well. Ubersonic 2,court ff2,solecourt boost,gp turbo. Thanks.
Great review, so good that I found your channel. Which one would you recommend to someone that suffers from knee pain. Adidas SOLECOURT SHOES it Asics resolution 8? Much appreciated.
Knee pain I would go with whatever has the most shock absorption so solecourt boost would be good, GP turbo as well , I don’t think the gel resolution 8s would give you as good of shock absorption - thanks for the feedback 👍
Hey mate. for wide footers do u recomend going half size up on the gel resolution 8 if theres no more 2E sizes available? or still stick to true to size?
I liked this initially but started giving pain on heel top on my left leg, looks like heel counter is very stiff , have no problem with right leg. I managed to play tennis with NB 860v11 which has very soft heel counter. Any suggestion for better shoe with better/comfortable heel counter
Thank you for this review. Would you recommend this to someone prone to Achilles tendonitis? I found NIke Court Air Zoom Zero helpful as they have good cushioning and a decent heel-to-toe drop but they have inconvenient ingress due to 1 piece design so I am considering switching away.
Gel Resolution 8’s have great heel support (check the teardown video to see that and the gel in the heel) it has a thick midsole and a three piece tongue so it’s definitely as good as most other shoes for Achilles tendinitis - they only have a 1.2 cm heel to toe drop but the support around the heel is so good I think they are still a winner - also if you have recurrent Achilles tendinitis make sure you are stretching your Achilles before and after play, consider a night splint for stretching while you sleep and don’t forget to stretch your hamstrings ( best was is simply sitting on the ground and touching your toes). Hope that helps!
Hey Doc Zach, you're the best! I bought the Gel Resolution 8 and love it! Fits like a ski boot and is durable as he'll. Now that I've worn out my first pair, I'm debating whether to buy same or try the FF2. I have a flat foot w medium width. Thoughts on pros n cons?
I bought Asics Gel resolution 8, size 14, which I have been wearing for years but they are too narrow for my foot. To me, as far as I have inquired, I need sneakers with a width of 6E. They don't have a single tennis shoe of that width at Tenniswarehouse. Do you have any suggestions as to where and which sneakers I should buy, which are the width I need. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the great content! I just order this one and waiting for it to be shipped. Looking forward to seeing if my experience on the shoes matches with yours.
I couldn't even fit into these, what other shoes would you recommend that are similar to the Mizuno wave exceed tour 4 in terms of fit and durability, I've tried the Wilson Pro rush 3's but they run half a size short and hurt my heel after wearing em for 3 hours+
I’m not surprised about the Wilson’s - I’d try the Ubersonic 4’s - around the same weight and balance profile, also the Babolat propulse may work well- as well as the NB 996 - Mizunos are tough as they are pretty unique and hard to find analogues
I have a very hi arch & use custom orthotics. These should be ok? You mentioned flat feet but missed if u mentioned hi arches and these. Appreciate your time and videos.
If you have a high arch and orthotics you will need to use that far back eyelet to lace them as your heel may want to come out - if you watch the teardown video of these at the 7:00 mark I show this on the shoe- if your orthotics have an extrinsic post ( a wide/ flat heel) you may have issues and may want to check out the adidas solecourt boost or Nike GP turbo , hope that helps!
@@FootDoctorZach thanks. I ordered the gel res 8 today. Considered the Adidas too but seems like the asic has more positive reviews. I'll see how my orthotics works out.
@@FootDoctorZach I will. I ordered the limited edition model (black/sunrise red) bc liked looks better so Midwest not shipping out until ard 7/31 expected
Hi Zach! Great Video! Just wanted to ask if it is a good option for outdoor basketball? Also does the poly upper inhibit breathability or is that not an issue? Hope you reply. Thanks
Hey FDZack! New Subscriber here! Just watched this for the 3rd time! I am wearing 2 new shoes right now...literally. I have the Resolution 8 on my right, and the Solution Speed FF 2 on the left - I'm returning 1 pair. What's your gut say for me: - Heavy player - 220# - Pre-arthritic knee - I'm 51 - Normal-to-high arch, normal width - Texas-based, so hot summer Hmmm...which one should I KEEP?!
Solution speed ff2 for me all the way just with an insert in them - I like the GP turbo and solecourt boost as well for arthritic joints ( my own left knee)
@@FootDoctorZach thank u so much for the reply. I just ordered them. Already recommended ur channel to a friend. Let me know if I can help in anyway. I teach in Daytona beach and am getting ready to play some ITFs when my mobility is back.
@@FootDoctorZach you were right! As someone with BAD achilles tendonitis I can verify the solecourt boost helps way more than the GR8s and overall feels more stable to be. Tad big, requires 2 pair of socks. Would order 1/2 size down next time but right now I can't find any 9.5s so I'm just going to deal with a hair of slippage and assume my feet will swell when I play
I don’t like them for planter fasciitis actually but I have a bunch of content on it - You can check out this video, I have time stamps for all categories just search for what you need in particular and a few shoes should match, you’ll get a decent list of shoes to try for your individual foot : ruclips.net/video/SR184Qa2Ado/видео.html
most painful shoes i've ever played with. favorite shoes=adidas novak pros no longer available. got the wide version, barely wide enough, lot of breakin required, slippery as hell, and i normally slide on purpose. all kinds of problems hips, knees, ankle, heel one after another with these shoes. tried to write it off but as soon as I switched shoes pain went away.
Really useful video! How are these shoes for grass court? Are these good for ankle support? Anything better with ankle support for grass and hard court?
No i dont like these for grass - my favorites are antyhing with herringbone or the nike vapor pro type outsole- or of course anything with grass-specific nubb outsoles
Any of these with a gun rubber bottom would work in my opinion- just depends what’s available in your area - Wilson makes their rush pros for racquetball and they’re available in most markets
I don’t have much experience with head shoes but the Jet line is pretty soft from what I’ve seen - the head revolts look interesting I could always do a review but in terms of “protection” the Asics have the most reenforcing
Hi Dr Zach! Can you address foot arthritis and the best court shoe. I'm looking at the cushioning of the Asics, but I've also heard that K-Swiss is good. What if any would recommend?

Have you ever tried the Nike court flares for fencing? It’s a women’s model - I would think they have good biomechanics for fencing - it would be the high tops I’m talking about
Hi Doc. If i am not mistaken you said that the Res 8 are better for people with low arch. If i put a insole like a powerstep for high arch it would fix that "ploblem"?
Zack! Great vid! Whats your foot width? I noticed you wear your shoes with a thumb of distance at least from the front. Probably to place the balls of the feet at the widest point of the shoe. Could you do a vid on sizing, width, and fit? It could be really helpful. Brannock device any good?
Thanks! I’m a 2E- yeah I’m actually working on a sizing/ fit/ game style video now - brannock device is great as long as the person using it knows what they’re doing

Just ordered mine! FINALLY! I tried the GP turbo and loved the comfort but they did take some break in time (toe room was lacking) and durability was terrible. I also have tried the Nike Cage 4 and found that they are YUUUGE but great for teaching tennis. I am hoping that the Res. 8 has a combination of comfort and durability. I teach about 40 hrs. a week and need a shoe that has both comfort for long days and durability/performance for hitting lessons and competitive play. Maybe you could do a video for teaching professionals.
I started getting heel pain with these shoes, but for some reason it continued when i switched to the new vapor pro. Other than that i liked everything else about them. Should I just deal with the pain and get them again?
For certain foot types the GR8 and vapors are pretty bad because of the slippage in the GR8 and the movement the vapors allow- if it’s me I’m getting something more stout in the heel like the SoleCourt boost, GP turbo, blushield 5 etc
Hi Doc, are there key factors to look for in shoes that help/mitigate/prevent patellar tendinitis? GR8 user and I’m suffering from slight tendinitis despite changing out the shoes often as a precaution. I know some people complain of knee/hip issues with the FF2s, possibly because the heel is lower than usual (at least this was one theory presented) and I think the GR8s may be similar with heel position? Not sure. Anyway just got me thinking of there is some factor to look for (stack, heel to toe drop, etc) that would benefit particularly knee tendinitis in a more specific way than your “knee/hip pain” section of your shoe guide. Thanks.
It really is foot and leg dependent- how the shoe sits your foot vs the rotation of your tibia - not a real one size fits all answer- would need an exam to tailor that
@@FootDoctorZach Do you think an average foot specialist would be able to help with tennis shoe recommendations/be able to tell what’s optimal? With your tennis background and love, absolutely, but just wondering if it would be worth it to go to some foot doc locally to ask such questions? If I’m ever in your area: I am absolutely making an appointment. :)
Haha ummm off the record no you need to find one who does a lot of sports medicine a lot of docs have no idea about court shoes and peoples feet- yeah if you’re in Pittsburgh come on in I do this stuff all day

I don’t play tennis. I use them in a daily basis now, though , because they give so great plantar support in arch and scaphoid areas that I had all my plantar calluses naturally gone, no treatments needed. I have a flat foot. All previous trainers felt wide, loose and “spacious” compared to these. They are very adherent to most surfaces, not slippery..
Hi Zach, Nice videos! I’m a woman wearing an outdated Speed FF for Men size 8. Bought a Gel Resolution 7 for women that is size 9 but the bone near the pinky toe had a blister. Didn’t realize that my right foot was wider and a bit longer than the left. My right foot tends to have disconfort. My asics are already worn out and I need to buy a new one. What would you recommend?

Very interesting to see how much detail goes into the shoes functionality - i wanted to get the Gel Res 8 or even this new colour way in the Speed FF but i needed a full herringbone, it's winter over here and pretty wet playing on synthetic grass Any suggestions on the grippiest shoe for damp surfaces? Omni shoes?
Asics makes a full herringbone pattern on the Gel Resolution 8 it’s called the gel resolution 8 clay so you can go with that - also for synthetic grass you want a wide forefoot so the adidas solecourt boost would be great with its full herringbone tread plus a really wide base -that may be your best bet. Hi! Thanks for the videos. This is a subject that interests me a lot. I am 46 years old and I play tennis only for 6 years (4/5 week). However, I was a competing volleyball player for 30 years. So, I have some problems in the joints (knees and back) and Achilles tendon (left). Right now for hard courts I'm using MIZUNO EXCEED TOUR 4 (that feel great) but I need to buy some new ones for clay, what do you suggest for me?. What is your opinion about ADIDAS SOLECOURT BOOST and SOLEMATCH BOUNCE? What I should look for? Finally, because I change tennis shoes very often I would like to know your opinion about the best hard courts and clay tennis shoes for a guy like me (I have average foot). Thanks a lot for your attention!!
So to your first question : the solecourt boosts are, in my opinion, the best clay / hard court shoe out there- they have an aggressive herringbone that’s also very durable - if your knees, back, hips are chronically achey they will help especially if you throw an orthotic in them ( custom or if you go over the counter go with powerstep) To your second question - if you are going back and fourth between hard and clay either the solecourts or the Asics gel resolution 8’s are great - asics does make a clay version of their shoe as well that is basically the same engineering as the regular gel resolution 8’s but with a deeper herringbone so you could always buy both versions and wear one on hard the other on clay- if you want a pure speed hardcourt shoe the new balance fresh foam LAV is great- that’s what I’ve been playing with for a few months too- they do have a slipper tongue so make sure you like that kind of tongue before you buy- if you don’t know about the different tennis shoe tongues check out the “what makes a tennis shoe unique for tennis” video ruclips.net/video/g7RvQ6oJp8M/видео.html Any other questions just shoot them my way I love talking about this stuff
@@FootDoctorZach Many thanks for you reply. I have the NB LAV fresh foam but I didn't really enjoy training with them. I didn't find the upper as comfortable as the sole, which is actually very good. The ASICS gel resolution 8’s I'm thinking of buying them when I have to change my shoes for hard court. My only issue about Adidas SOLECOURT BOOST is if I find them too heavy so I thought about SOLEMATCH BOUNCE (do you know them?). I´m trying to solve this today because I have to give the "retirement" to my Yonex Eclipsion :) I am sorry for so many questions, as I only have a chance to buy online I always try to be certain before buying. Great video and insight in the shoe. I have quite a high mid foot as well as a wide one and therefore have challenges with blood restrictions with narrow shoes. Currently I’m wearing the Wilson Rush Pro 3.5 with no issues, before I was wearing the Head revolt 3.0 and resolution 7 by ASICS. The Nike cage 3 gave me some restrictions with blood flow so that my feet went numb. What’s your take on the ASICS for my type of foot and is it possible to remove the orange bits for better room? Hey, only recently found your channel but it has been very insightful. I am looking to buy some new shoes, currently looking at GR8 2e and K-Swiss hypercourt express models. My current shoes are New Balance Fuelcells (runner shoes and not tennis shoes) and they're 11.5 I believe 2e, I was wondering how comparable these shoes are for a wide fit? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hey Zach, how's it going. I'm kinda dumb and got these half a size too long and now they hurt just my left foot when they crease hahaha. Do you have any tips on how to deal with this issue? Thank you.
@@lyttlefat3393 I have very wide feet and a high instep; I couldn't even get in the standard width version; I have just bought the wide / 2E version and can just about get into that, with the 'Dynawrap' straps as tight as my racquet strings and not needing to be pulled tight in any way. I also found this a long shoe and the right length for me was half a size down (ordered a 10 instead of my usual 10.5) but that's consequently given me a little less width. Wearing around the house, they've given a fraction so I'm quite pleased with the fit now. Only played once so far and have been impressed; it seems to combine a solid, supportive feel with that of a lighter, speed-focussed shoe. So far so good and definitely worth a try. Hope that helps a bit.
High arched wide feet are some of the toughest to fit shoes for- I have the same foot type but thats a great follow up with your experience fitting into these- thanks!

thanks. do you usually recommend insoles for all shoes? I am starting to get heel and arch pain and wondering if that has connection with my calf strain...
I do if you are having pain - if no issues then no, a good shoe is all you need- if you had a calf strain your arch and heel pain is probably due to calf tightness, which is what causes your calf strain as well so some aggressive Achilles and hamstring stretching will be what ultimately cures that but an orthotic will help the process along faster ruclips.net/video/7bee3wriaiA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/VkWrK_qgvD0/видео.html First one is my hamstring video second is just a quick Achilles stretching video I found that is pretty good
thank you for being so helpful. your channel is exactly what the tennis community needs. Also, one more question. I am trying to decide between the gel resolution 8 and fresh foam lav. Ive been wearing my vapor 9 but I think that shoe is part of the reason why I have been having issues. Which one would you recommend?
Gel resolution 8- I used to play w the LAV and to be honest I like their $65 696 better, the Gel Resolutions will give you a TON of feedback when cutting side to side- hard to argue against them- and thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the content
I used to play with barricades since the first generation but recently adidas has decided not to bring their performance tennis shoes to my country so I had to switch to a different brand. I went for the resolution 8 after reading some reviews and because I like the Asics’ I use to go running. Huge mistake. Only two months playing with them 3x/week on red clay (!!!) gave me a foot injury.
Do these fit true to size? I’ve worn a size 11 in the NB Fresh Foam LAV and wondering if I need to drop a 1/2 size for these. Love the content! Keep it up!
Exactly I have a high arch and the top then seems way to tight. Really like the look however. One of them makes a click noise every step from the thick polymer on top which is an annoyance.

I'm as eager to see if they're good for the plantar fasciitis too
Search superfeet insoles if you have plantar fascitis.
After trying all of them I’ve come around to the court ff 2 - I like the tech in the GR8 but for stability and comfort both I’m going with the ff every day
@@FootDoctorZach did you go with the same size for both gel res 8 and ff2? Or did you go half a size down for ff2?
Same with both
I haven’t got much experiences with tennis shoes but man hand down best tennis shoes for comfort, traction and stability.
Stability for sure!- all that polyurethane makes it really light and sure footed and I broke them in in about 5 min which for me is great
just bought a really beautiful white version of these! thanks for the review!
Nice! Thank you
i just got my Gel resolution 8 wide.
Awesome let me know what you think once you do
@@FootDoctorZach what did you think about the ankle support ? did you think it was just as good as yonex PC ? I was bit worried cause once i put the custom orthotic in there, it will raise the heel area somewhat
The 8’s are not the most ankle stable shoes out there- eclipsion much better in that regard
Very thorough and helpful review. Thanks.
Awesome! Glad you liked it - I also have a clay version video as well if you’re into those
I just tested the ASICS court ff, solution speed ff, solution speed ff2 clay, gel challenger 12 and the gel resolution 8 all in a row.
Nice!
Yep- remember though those clay shoes may have a durability guarantee but they will still wear in high impact places more than a hardcourt shoe so even tho the outsole may stil be instact it won’t be “optimal” like the hardcourt tread- but, yeah, I usually use clay shoes on hard and never really have any issues and if you like the clay model then I’d say go for it
Did not mention my favorite feature, can put loose lace ends inside upper tongue so you never trip on it.
Thanks!
Thanks! I actually made a video on that here: ruclips.net/video/Gys_uins0-s/видео.html but I usually go with GP turbo/ solecourt boost
hmm. curious. this and the Lotto 100 caught my eye. which I could try them on
go to Dick's Sporting Goods
I am getting my pair today, hoping they fit a little better than the Solution Speed FF with the arches, but they might not. Thanks for doing all these videos.
Good luck!
@@FootDoctorZach Got my pair of gel resolution 8, super comfy and lots of cushion.
Dr. Zach, you said your right foot is a tad smaller, have you tried the special lace technique where you create a "Upside down U-shape" on the last 2 eyelet holes , then the left over string you cross the excess laces and swoop thru under the "u-shape" and tie a bow and then the top laces lock you in
Yep I talk about that in a few videos - namely the torneo video and the gel res 8 clay video
Hi its just for tennis or can use for crossfit and gym .?
Hello Zach,
I hope you want to help me with some questions.
GR8 is much less stable- cushioning is about the same
@@FootDoctorZach fits better too
Yeah that’s the tough part about making shoes for the public - everyone’s got a different shape and profile - you’re bound to make them uncomfortable for someone / great for someone else
Hey Doc! I use 11.5 on the ff court 2. Should I get 11.5 for these also( gel resolution 8?)
I would, they run pretty similar
Thanks for the fast reply doc! Just ordered it!
Let me know how they do for you
I found with my friend who owns one too that many times it came off the feet while playing. You have to tie the shoelaces really tight. This is the only con i found
Hi, thanks for the video, would you recommend this shoe to a person with flat foot, or can he put arch support insole.
Thanks.
Depends on your foot type but I like the SCB the most personally
Thanks! High arched feet aren’t great for the Gel res 8 so I’d steer clear of that one if it were me
👍👍
Great review, so good that I found your channel. Which one would you recommend to someone that suffers from knee pain. Adidas SOLECOURT SHOES it Asics resolution 8? Much appreciated.
Knee pain I would go with whatever has the most shock absorption so solecourt boost would be good, GP turbo as well , I don’t think the gel resolution 8s would give you as good of shock absorption - thanks for the feedback 👍
Hey mate. for wide footers do u recomend going half size up on the gel resolution 8
if theres no more 2E sizes available? or still stick to true to size?
I liked this initially but started giving pain on heel top on my left leg, looks like heel counter is very stiff , have no problem with right leg. I managed to play tennis with NB 860v11 which has very soft heel counter. Any suggestion for better shoe with better/comfortable heel counter
Thanks for reviewing tennis shoes to the public..l’ve just subscribe in your channel recently..
Thanks I appreciate it! If there’s ever a shoe you’d like to see just let me know
Thank you for this review.
I wear size 11.5 in the vapor cage 4s and was thinking of getting these. What size would you recommend?
I went same but I couldn’t tell you for sure as I have no idea the shape of your foot
Oh and I was referring to the Court FF2 Djokovic shoe. I'm already sold on your recommendation on this and the GR8 over the SSFF2.
It’s a much different feel with the booty liner - if it’s me I’m sticking with what works
@@FootDoctorZach
OK. I'm staying with the GR8. Thanks always for your sage advice. Keep pumping out your excellent videos, you're the best!
Which do you prefer resolution8 vs court ff?
Tough call but for my foot type - the court ff , just more stable
@@FootDoctorZach What does it mean to have a more "stable" fit?
Great review! Please can you review the Wilson
Kaos Rapide All Court? Really torn between that and the Asics Gel Resolution 8!
I don’t like the Kaos line at all- have had horrid experiences so that one’s probably gonna stay in the box if that tells you my opinion haha
Are these good for just walking around in?
Thanks for the great content! I just order this one and waiting for it to be shipped. Looking forward to seeing if my experience on the shoes matches with yours.

Hi, please, can i to use this model for running? Thank you.
Excellent Review

Hope you reply.

Yes it would be good
Hey FDZack! New Subscriber here! Just watched this for the 3rd time! I am wearing 2 new shoes right now...literally. I have the Resolution 8 on my right, and the Solution Speed FF 2 on the left - I'm returning 1 pair. What's your gut say for me:
- Heavy player - 220#
- Pre-arthritic knee - I'm 51
- Normal-to-high arch, normal width
- Texas-based, so hot summer
Hmmm...which one should I KEEP?!
Solution speed ff2 for me all the way just with an insert in them - I like the GP turbo and solecourt boost as well for arthritic joints ( my own left knee)
@@FootDoctorZach Thank you!!

Is it good for clay?
The clay model is, not so much the all court treads - here’s a video on it : ruclips.net/video/5nfamUqowZc/видео.html
Do you think these or the solecourt boost are more plush? Coming off shattered heels injury major achilles tendonitis
Definitely solecourt boost - I actually don’t like the GR8 at all for heel or Achilles pain
@@FootDoctorZach thank u so much for the reply. I just ordered them. Already recommended ur channel to a friend. Let me know if I can help in anyway. I teach in Daytona beach and am getting ready to play some ITFs when my mobility is back.
Awesome thanks for the kind words! Let me know what events you are playing and I’ll share it on my IG
Glad you found a solution !- yep I find that the double sock or a sock with some gripping material on the bottom and heel cup does well
Gel Resolution 8 is best for plantar fasciitis?
Yep they are definitely not for every foot type with how the heel and upper is constructed - what are you playing in now?
Should I buy the same size for GR8 as Court FF2 Novak? Or I need to go wide version for GR8? 🙏
Depends on your foot - they are almost the same last so I went same for both
Really useful video! How are these shoes for grass court? Are these good for ankle support? Anything better with ankle support for grass and hard court?

Yes they are- asics are tough to come across right now- i have a a link in the description to a site that has a bunch of colorways and sizes
Hi doctor Zach could you recommend a shoe for raquetball
Any of these with a gun rubber bottom would work in my opinion- just depends what’s available in your area - Wilson makes their rush pros for racquetball and they’re available in most markets
Very nice review... How would you compare this with Babolat Jet tere and Head revolt Pro 3.0 interms of ankle protection and comfort?
I don’t have much experience with head shoes but the Jet line is pretty soft from what I’ve seen - the head revolts look interesting I could always do a review but in terms of “protection” the Asics have the most reenforcing
Thanks for the reply ..Im looking forward for your reviews on Head revolt Pro and jet Series as well...

I wouldn’t for any significant distance- they’re meant for shirt side to side movement
@@FootDoctorZach Hi Doc! Is they good for outdoor basketball?

What do you think about the heel support of the shoe? Do you think other ASICS tennis shoes have better heel support?
These allow a lot of heel slippage , the court ff2 and SSFF2 don’t , so I’d say these are 3rd on that list for that issue
@@FootDoctorZach Thank you! I am a tennis player and a fencer so I wanted to make sure that I could use these for fencing too.

I’m going to put that category in my next best of
I started getting heel pain with these shoes, but for some reason it continued when i switched to the new vapor pro.
Sides of the feet quite sore with these shoes. Tried changing shoes size twice now.
That’s a great follow up, these for sure have great arch support with the external truss

Very interesting to see how much detail goes into the shoes functionality - i wanted to get the Gel Res 8 or even this new colour way in the Speed FF but i needed a full herringbone, it's winter over here and pretty wet playing on synthetic grass
Any suggestions on the grippiest shoe for damp surfaces?
So to your first question : the solecourt boosts are, in my opinion, the best clay / hard court shoe out there- they have an aggressive herringbone that’s also very durable - if your knees, back, hips are chronically achey they will help especially if you throw an orthotic in them ( custom or if you go over the counter go with powerstep)
To your second question - if you are going back and fourth between hard and clay either the solecourts or the Asics gel resolution 8’s are great - asics does make a clay version of their shoe as well that is basically the same engineering as the regular gel resolution 8’s but with a deeper herringbone so you could always buy both versions and wear one on hard the other on clay- if you want a pure speed hardcourt shoe the new balance fresh foam LAV is great- that’s what I’ve been playing with for a few months too- they do have a slipper tongue so make sure you like that kind of tongue before you buy- if you don’t know about the different tennis shoe tongues check out the “what makes a tennis shoe unique for tennis” video ruclips.net/video/g7RvQ6oJp8M/видео.html Any other questions just shoot them my way I love talking about this stuff
I´m trying to solve this today because I have to give the "retirement" to my Yonex Eclipsion :)
I am sorry for so many questions, as I only have a chance to buy online I always try to be certain before buying.
Thank you!
That’s a common complaint with that particular New balance - the 696 and its family are much more comfy
Good job! 👍 I like how you really dive in to details with the review. Can I ask a review for the Adidas Sole Court Boost?
Thank you! The SoleCourt Boost is actually my next shoe that I will be reviewing- will be coming out next week
@@FootDoctorZach I already subscribed. I will be notified when it comes out. Thanks doc! Keep the video reviews up! 👍
Awesome👍
Hi foot Dr i have flat foot and bought gel resolution 8 . I got plantar fasciitis after 5 months of using it for 2 hours on the court 4 days a week. Is it due to this shoes.. should I change the shoes or should I have customised insole. Please suggest best shoes for flat foot and plantar fasciitis for tennis and also one for daily wear . Thanks in advance.

do you think these could work as a basketball shoe?
I see these for around $180 Canadian versus the gel game 7 on sale for $60.
Yup they’re quite a bit pricier
@@FootDoctorZach So would you rather have 1 gel resolution or 3 game shoes?
Honestly neither, they’re my least favorite Asics but if I had to choose prob the gel game just for the price
@@FootDoctorZach its good for crossfit and gym
Bro pronation is on running models or all shoes must pick by pronation type of foot?
Tennis shoes all out you more pronated so you don’t roll as easy but there’s still foot type considerations You can check out this video, I have time stamps for all categories just search for what you need in particular and a few shoes should match, you’ll get a decent list of shoes to try for your individual foot : ruclips.net/video/Y0FitApDvEA/видео.html
Thank you in advance
Thank you 👍I’d avoid the gel res 8’s but the others in the Asics line I’ve had good luck with and I have a similar foot to you
@@FootDoctorZach thank you, I appreciate it!
Question about sizing. I wear a mens size 9 in the adidas solecourt boost, should I go with a 9 or 9.5 in the Gel Resolution 8?
Depends on your foot shape- I went true for both but that’s just me I can’t really tell what size and shape you are without examining but this video will show you how to match the shape of your foot with any shoe you may be looking at online ruclips.net/video/sqn8k3tVl6c/видео.html
@@FootDoctorZach my foot is fairly narrow and pretty straight, no significant curvature in either foot. I’m gonna go with a 9. Thanks!
Which is more stable for someone with flat feet, these or the court ff 2?
six of one, half dozen another
Do these run true to size?
I don't understand why FILA stopped making the cage delirium to compete with asics resolution
Yeah they really went in a different direction
Hey, only recently found your channel but it has been very insightful. I am looking to buy some new shoes, currently looking at GR8 2e and K-Swiss hypercourt express models. My current shoes are New Balance Fuelcells (runner shoes and not tennis shoes) and they're 11.5 I believe 2e, I was wondering how comparable these shoes are for a wide fit? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
The GR8 2E will be most like the fit you’re used to
Hey Zach, how's it going. I'm kinda dumb and got these half a size too long and now they hurt just my left foot when they crease hahaha. Do you have any tips on how to deal with this issue? Thank you.
Unfortunately no, if theyre too long better to just get a different pair/ model that fits your better
@@FootDoctorZach darn it haha. Ok, thank you.
What US size are you wearing ? And how tall are you ?
11.5 and I’m 5ft 7in 185 lbs give or take a few depending on how much junk I eat that week
The Tennis Pro Doc I have 175 cm height and wearing 11.5 us as you. Absolutely you have very wide feet like me.
YES, they are.
This shoe vs the GP Turbo?
GP turbo for me
what a good shoe for sliding on hard courts?
Ubersonic 2,4
@@FootDoctorZach thank you!!! Loved your ep on Shap’s podcast. Your passion for tennis shoes is so uncanny. Love it.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it! I had fun
which over the counter orthodics do you recommend for tennis? specifically which powerstep insole? there are so many different kinds
“Full length original” or “pinnacle maxx” to be honest there isn’t much difference between all of them but the pinnacle will last you a tad longer -here are the links on Amazon but most good running/ sporting goods stores carry them as well.
Powerstep Full Length Orthotic Shoe Insoles Original with Arch Support Unisex- Relieve Metatarsal, Arch and Heel Pain www.amazon.com/dp/B005AFHNA0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_eVFcFbPH10TW7
Powerstep Pinnacle Maxx www.amazon.com/dp/B000O5HE14/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KVFcFb93SMJA2
thanks. do you usually recommend insoles for all shoes? I am starting to get heel and arch pain and wondering if that has connection with my calf strain...
I do if you are having pain - if no issues then no, a good shoe is all you need- if you had a calf strain your arch and heel pain is probably due to calf tightness, which is what causes your calf strain as well so some aggressive Achilles and hamstring stretching will be what ultimately cures that but an orthotic will help the process along faster

First one is my hamstring video second is just a quick Achilles stretching video I found that is pretty good
thank you for being so helpful. your channel is exactly what the tennis community needs.
Is the sizing the same compared to Nike vapor x? Thanks
Yeah I’d say pretty darn similar
I used to play with barricades since the first generation but recently adidas has decided not to bring their performance tennis shoes to my country so I had to switch to a different brand. I went for the resolution 8 after reading some reviews and because I like the Asics’ I use to go running. Huge mistake. Only two months playing with them 3x/week on red clay (!!!) gave me a foot injury.
Yeah if im getting asics shoes im going with the court ff2 or SSFF2
Hi... Can it be used for Badminton? Because i have accidentally bought it for Badminton... Please help me out
You can you just may not get the grip of a traditional badminton shoe made for Indoor slicker surfaces
@@FootDoctorZach ow... I see, thanks
👍
Do these fit true to size? I’ve worn a size 11 in the NB Fresh Foam LAV and wondering if I need to drop a 1/2 size for these.
Love the content! Keep it up!
Nope they actually run really similar to the lav d width - thanks !
Exactly I have a high arch and the top then seems way to tight. Really like the look however. One of them makes a click noise every step from the thick polymer on top which is an annoyance.
Yup mine as well - went away after a month but that’s a long time
Doc, between this and Nike GP Turbo, which one gives the most cushioning feel?
GP turbo for sure
