Thank you Jay for another excellent tutorial. I plan to update a few light switches and that will do perfectly for me!
Especially good for outside lights on the porch, garage, etc.
That is correct 👍🏽! 🙏🏽😊
Thanks. This is truly helpful as we install new ceiling lights!
I’m glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
Well done! Commentary is logical, precise and easy to understand. You would make a very good teacher. Thanks.
Great video buddy, exactly what I was looking for, for my porch lights! Thank you!
Another excellent video. Looks like I'll be buying the switch and push/pull stick.
Very well done video. Thanks! I LOVE my Wago lever nuts!!! I am slowly replacing wire nuts throughout this old house (1925). They make working with receptacles or switches SO much easier. They're so much easier on my fingers too.
I love the looks of those switches over the classic ones. It's a shame I can't talk my wife into upgrading to them at our house.
Thank you. I'm trying to think of ways to use this
This is awesome. Going to have to get these for my teen children who love to leave the lights on after they leave the rooms....LOL.
I upgraded mine with a wifi smart switch. I can control the time through a smart app as well there is local switch. Programming the switch you install is old school. I can also turn on/off my switch anywhere I am. Same easy install
I completely agree at some point. I do have allot of smart switches and lights in my home, and you wouldn’t believe how many apps I have on my phone that controls each different brands, gets confusing from time to time lol. Having a single point timer like this will makes things easier for me personally and gives others options if they don’t like the smart phone app ways. I do appreciate your input. Thank you! 🙏🏽😊
@@FixThisHouse check out smart life. I have different brands all controlled with smart life
I would like to see how you would do this for 3 way switches. I have a switch for the outside lights in the foyer and garage and have been wanting to put the lights on a timer.
Stay tuned! I will do a video on this for you 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
I did this also, using the " Leviton VPT24-1PZ Vizia 24-Hour Programmable Indoor Timer with Astronomical Clock".
They come with alternative covers if you don't like the "Builders white".
They
Great video, thanks for taking the time and effort to make and upload!! Question - can I use this to control an electrical socket? I hope to have a permanent socket for outdoor holiday lights and decorations so I don't have to keep using plug-in timers and trying to get them set up to the same time.
Keep up the great work!!
Thanks for a truly excellent and clear video.
Thank you so much! 🙏🏽😊
Great explanation,
Question:
It has battery ?? . If power goes out the battery backup keeps memory ?
Thank you Kuya, that helped a lot. I got the same timer and directions suck.
Thank you so much! Great explanation and exactly what I was looking for!
Thank you! Just what I needed.
For security reasons, use different on and off times for each day. Think about that old movie Home Alone, the original, where the thieves watched and timed each house lights coming on.
That’s smart! Thank you for that! I’m glad you brought that up, I just watched Home Alone this weekend with my Kids! Classic! 🥰
Its so funny that i thought about that to
Thanks friend 😁👍
Thank you brother!
Hi, from your experience does it retain the off/on information even after power failure?
let me know thanks!
Good question
Gracias amigo un abrazo fuerte
Awesome video can this switch work in any country?
What if you have 2 sets of outside lights that have their own swith. Can you use 1 timer for both sets of lights? If so how is this accomplished?
I cant believe its less then $20.This might be better then the motion sensor light bulb and the smart light bulb that connect to the alarm system
Works well for its price 👍🏽😊
Great job. Thank you
Thank you. Awesome as always
Thank you for the video. I am pretty handy around the house but I am stumped with this particular job. I have the same timer you show here. I have my porch light that is operated by 2 switches. One in the kitchen and one by the front door. I guess this is a 3 way switch situation. Both switches have a red, black and white wire. The new timer switch has red, black, white, blue and green which I know is ground. When I install the switch in the wall by the front door, where would the blue (3-way) wire go? When I installed the timer switch it would light up and I can hear the switch try to turn on the light light, but no light. When I flip the switch in the kitchen nothing happens. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I do not mind bypassing the switch in the kitchen, what would I do with the red, black and white wires to do this? Thanks...any help would be great!
Ahhh , more good info ... Thx ...
Thank you Eddy! 👍🏽😊🙏🏽
I have a question. I have a very similar set up other than I replaced a bad light timer for a different-brand timer in the 1st gang. That went great. I needed to remove the middle switch to give me finger room to work. It is like your light switch--1 way with 2 terminals for wire and a ground. The only 2 black wires are the Line and Load. I reinstalled that middle light switch (governs the entry way light) when the light timer was successfully installed--for the front porch light. But that middle switch no longer works! I replaced the bulb, I replaced the switch with a new one, I swapped the Black Load and Line wires and it still doesn't work. I can't figure out what's gone wrong. I left the 3rd gang switch in place (it's a 3-way for the upstairs light) and it works normally. I have everything back in place without figuring out the middle switch's issue. Any thoughts from anyone to guide me to a solution?
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Ron! 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
Can it be used for fire place?
Awesome video! Really helped me put the automatic lights on my front porch with ease. Do you have a video about when the 3way wire would be used? Trying to install this in my garage light switch (3Poles) but noticed the hot wire was connected to two light switches at the same time. Does this change the installation and use the blue 3 wire?
Is there a way to turn porch light off if we just happen to want it off or it’s all by timer only??
Very good 👍
Thank you! 🙏🏽😊
if the power goes off. need to reset it again
Who is my backlight not illuminating? I assume the white or blue wire has to be connected but it was not on my old one.
I did exaclty wha toy said and it still doesnt come on or off. Is there anyone we can contact for support?
On my switch I don’t have a white wire. I should say is I don’t have a white wire coming from the wall
Sorry, but unsleeved Earth wires are really really dangerous, and in the UK wouldn't meet electrical installation regulations and probably invalidate your home insurance as they could easily make contact with the live wire connections on switches when you reinstall them.
What If you got no neutral to make up to?
My problem is I do not have a ground wire on my single pole outside light switch.
Never showed where to put the ground!!
