I love these cards, but they can be tricky to work on when it comes to creases. When you have a ridge on top of a card like this, it’s important to work on the card from the backside to help the front move back into place. This was the most severe wrinkle I’ve ever attempted on a MJ rookie. Although you can still see that there are some remainders of the wrinkle. I’m really happy with the results. I hope these tips help you out when you run into issues like this.

That was pretty cool and you did a really nice job on that Card. I liked the way you described how you were going to attack the problem and it makes sense. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for watching. I feel that card care is 90% plan and 10% using your hands. If you can picture what it needs to do you can usually make even a small improvement. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you and the rest of the subscribers! @@kurtscardcare

Thanks for watching everything and getting involved. If you’re on Instagram follow me, I’m always happy to take a look at a picture or offer some advice if you need anything. 🤙🏼
Absolutely amazing
As always great info
The MOST ICONIC basketball card and you just showed us how to breathe some life back into something that was a huge eye sore. Nice job. ill take the after any day as well
Thank you, I feel the same way. I can’t just leave that big ridge on there. Thanks for watching.
Hi Kurt, I see this was 6 months ago but I just now saw it. You did an amazing job on this but I did have a question. Was there a reason you stopped where you did since it still has a visible wrinkle/crease? I would think if you worked on it a little more, it would get that out.
@@BrotherMJ808 great question. This is about as good as I can do when I start with the amount of damage that we had. These cards are super thin and rigid as you may know. It’s hard to get them back to 100%. The paint on these is super sensitive too so I don’t like to touch it too much because it’s easy to remove.
Great video Kurt
Thank You!
That's sick
You are a true one💯💯💯💯
How do you avoid the "alteration" designation on PSA grading?
Do not add color the cards and do not trim them. That will constitute altering. I teach fixing previous damage and cleaning cards. Never a problem getting a card graded once. Great question.
How long do you wait between applications?
Good question, 20 to 30 minutes, so I could see what it was looking like
@@kurtscardcare The tortillions that you use seem to stand up very well in liquid. Are they different then other tortillions?
@@Corridor_Collectiables I’m not sure, these are the ones I’ve always used. They’re medium size.
Nice! Do you have any way to remove staining (back side) from that particular set
It’s hard, I had a dirty one of these a few weeks ago, and I soaked the card. None of the yellowish staining on the back budged. That was what mine looked like. If you want to show me a picture on Instagram, I’ll take a look.
Hey man I have a few questions. What's that white tool called? And where do you buy that, the discs and the pliers you use to keep the discs together?
Great questions. The white paper pencil is a tortilion it's an art tool. I get all of these accessories on Amazon. Let me drop you a link - www.kurtscardcare.com/products-we-love
@@kurtscardcare thanks so much.
Great stuff! You ever try to clean topps tiffany?? That gloss seems to be different.
You’re right, you can clean the cards if there’s anything on them but the plastic finishes is definitely different regarding wrinkles
I’ve got your cleaning kit so I’m going to go ahead and remove some residue from some of them. I appreciate your response. Thank you
Hey Kurt. Do you ever use heat for certain surface issues?
You can use heat if a card is a little wobbly or wonky. But when there’s a defined crease like this, I find that you have to unpack it. Moisture always works great for me.
Copy that. Thanks Kurt!
Are those your cards or cards that people send you to fix
These are mine, I teach the different things I know how to do and I make the card care products. If you need anything that I use my website is www.kurtscardcare.com
sad we cant fix pokemon card foils.
I agree, trust me, I try. The materials are much trickier. Fortunately, if you have dirty ones, they clean up well but that’s about the best I can do
Would this card be gradable? Or would it be considered altered?
It will be able to get a grade. Not a high one, but it will get a grade. I’ll follow up. The crease was much worse but it’s still there a little bit.
You are a very clever fella. And I have to agree with the other commenters, you have a crazy good Bob Ross vibe or something. Do you ever restore cards as a service? Would love to hear more about that. @@kurtscardcare
@@FrancisBrenner I did that for many years. During that time I developed my own products and learned how to work on a variety of cards. I got to the point where I didn’t wanna do it so much. So now I teach how to do it and I sell the products that I developed. If you ever want to check out more my website is www.kurtscardcare.com
