Thank you. This video saved me thousands today. I was holding a Jordan rookie in my hand today. It was the centerpiece of around 300 cards a guy was selling for $4000. I was hopeful but watched the video before I went to be safe. What made me leery was how the guy was trying to draw my attention to other cards. Every time I’d go back to it he’d say it would grade psa 9 all day and then divert my attention. I didn’t think it would grade a 6. That was flag number 1. When I really got looking at the card it had all the signs it was fake. Pixelated, off colors, bad logos and more. He kept telling about all the offers he was getting from people who never held the card. I told the guy my thoughts and showed him a dozen pictures of the bad fakes and he still didn’t believe me. Unreal. What really got me thinking was if this guy was so confident he had an authentic psa 9 Jordan rookie why wouldn’t he pay the fee to have it graded and literally increase the cards value by thousands and thousands of dollars. Clear fake. When that thought crossed my mind I quickly left. I had hopes but I’m happy I still have my money. Thank you again

I’m not a fan of grading except for high end cards to avoid counterfeiting. That really was the original reason for grading cards, and now the whole system is backlogged with graded cards that will be worthless in a few years.

Perhaps not only use magnification but put a common card from that set that you know no one would bother faking and compare it and the Jordan to make sure all the printing looks the same on both cards? If that makes sense how I'm explaining it.
Definitely agree on to purchase a graded card vs raw. It will be awhile before I can afford a high graded Jordan. Thanks for taking the time to show possible fake Jordan card - great info.

I have one everything matches up to be authentic except the back is shiny did fleer make ones in 1986 with shiny back ? I know I looked up and there was ones with shiny backs in wax packs in 1996..

About 1996 I left St Pete Florida to drive to Canada. I took all my best cards with me cuz I didn't trust where I was staying. Was rolling through a small town in mid Florida, saw a card shop and stopped in. Starting telling him what I had in the car, he wanted to see them and wanted to trade me a bunch for his Jordan rookie. I knew there were several fakes even at that time so I couldn't make the deal. No phones/internet back then so I couldn't check but have always wondered if that card was legit and I could have a grail RC
Really important all this information, whit the technology we have today Olms anything can be replied. I purchase like #200. Cards from different peoples. Now I feel like I have invested in this Cards. If I have any questions is possible to me asking you to help me out with this cards.?

Hi, your videos are so helpful to all of us that love the sports card hobby. Question, could you do a video on 1986/87 Fleer Charles Barkley fakes? I had a Barkley sitting in my closet for 35 years and when I finally sent it out to be graded, Becketts, and they sent it back as origin unknown. I compare some of the fake Jordan and don't see it on the Barkley. Thanks!

So mine isn't centered good but has the eyes and the a and b are good.
I got one that isn’t certified but I had it since forever so I don’t worry about it being fake because it’s real to me and I refuse to send it in the mail etc
I personally don't buy anything GAI slabbed because I'm unable to run a cert number. If I was going to fake card slabs, I would go with a defunct grading company like GAI where it's nearly impossible for the average collector to determine whether the slab is authentic.
How about the surface of the fake cards versus a real 1986 card, does the surface of the fake feel slick or anything?
Surface tends to be off on the back of most fakes. Just hard to show in a video like this

I bought MJ card from someone and I do have lines on the basketball only thing that hurts it is that it's off center.

Also look on the back of the card for decimals where it says 27.2 if there's a DOT it's legit

This is exactly why I stopped buying cards and started buying figures and cereal boxes. I still buy packs though. I just bought a fake Jordan and it has all of these points .I am just going to display it at home.
The only argument of this would be couldn't there be variations among authentic Jordan rookies? Did the authentic ones all come out printed exactly the same every time?
You should also do the Michael Jordan Star card 1985..
We have been wanting to do that because it's hard to tell the difference since the star card is unique. Will do!

Ill only buy beat up cards that is my way of telling a fake. If they are gonna fake it they are gonna do a 8-10 condition one to get the most money. I'd rather buy one with creases through it and small rips. Its cheaper as well and makes me more confident its authentic. Also less competition on bids. I don't have but if I did that's what I'd buy
I would love to start a new grading company but the startup capital to do such a thing - not to mention building a reputation - is like climbing a mountain....... I mean I would feel comfortable in my own grading and the professional graders I would hire - because I would only hire collectors that have extensive experience in the hobby - older collectors that have retired from their daytime jobs looking for some supplemental income - not some clown that's been in the hobby for 5 years that specializes in ultra modern basketball, lol

Should Read HowTo Spot a Fake 3rd Year Fleer Michael Jordan Card. People need to realize his Star Co. proceeded his Fleer stuff. His 5x7 1984 Star Co. Court Kings is actually his Rookie Card. It was the first Card made of MJ which makes it his RC. But still a nice Video on how to spot a fake 1986-87 Fleer Jordan.
The Star cards are NOT his rookie card. To qualify as a rookie card, it has to be sold in packs and widely distributed. The Star cards were not sold in packs and were only available in team bags from Star Co distributors. The 1986 Fleer is Jordan's true rookie card.
@Robert-nu4vc You must only have the 1986 Fleer Jordan Card. Most people who do want so badly for it to be his Real Rookie Card. They know how Rare the 1984 Star 101 is and they can't afford it. I have all of Jordan's Star Cards and his Fleer Cards. Of course I'm missing some of the Inserts. The 1986 Fleer Jordan is his 3rd Year Card. Like it or Not. We can also argue that the 1983 Wichita Eagle Beacon is his Rookie Card. But it is from a Newspaper. And I have it also. But his True Rookie Card is the 5x7 Star Co Court Kings Card. Tough for some people to swallow.

I’ve seen possible fakes that have everything that a legit one has. I mean if you can feel it and see it it’s real right ? Ha. If it’s for your mantle and not trying to make money off of someone they are all beautiful
UV light is the only real way, all of these things can be easily faked now. The inks used, not so easy.

Listen all jordan 86" cards are a bit era sensitive because of the stock of the cardboard there very chippy and the pic on the front is extremely clear and the super mint ones are already locked away with super big money collectors graded. It almost always has a patina because the card is 30 plus years old and was wrapped with a piece of gum floating around the pack hence suger powder ...good luck and proceed with caution if you buy it raw never Buy it without inspecting it In Person. And the card never had gloss anywhere front or back

@@BreakoutCards I know the MJ fleer rookie inside and out. I know ever fake MJ there is. I have even nickname all of the different fakes and can spot what fake it is in about 2 seconds.I own 7 of these MJ fleer rookies and I also own just about every different fake made. I liked your video but you left out a lot. PS: 99.999% of the raw 86 Fleer MJ on Ebay are fakes. It's a real problem. I see people pay thousands on Ebay every week for fake raw MJ's.
