    I used a quarter inch section of bicycle inner tube, folded over on itself (to make it 4 layers thick), then cut a screw sized hole in the middle that tube. I stuck it to the stock section for the screw using some spray-on adhesive (so that it wouldn't pop out of place before I could get the receiver down on it). Works great. Thanks for the vid!

    Great video, and good handy solution. My only concern is that the stock has so much play, and that if you rest the rifle it will again touch the barrel. For this you can stiffen it with some epoxy and fiberglass filling in those cross ribbed areas inside the fore end. thanks for posting.

    Works perfect. I added 1 shim in the front and 1 for the rear . And then a long piece inthe very front of the stock just to keep the rifle in the middle of the channel. I took out the very front shim after adding the screws and i used the top of a plastic ice cream pail for the shims. Now my Centurion Mauser is free floated and ready for the scope. Awsome . If i bedded it then it would just add epoxy and not raise it to the height from the shims.

    Yes it will help on synthetic stocks. But only if they don't pass the paper slip test. I need to do either this or sand and file on a rem'700 22-250 with bull brl. It touches at end like that Winchester did before. Good tips thanks

    its honestly better accuracy wise to just remove material from the barrel channel, its ez, use a deep well socket and some sandpaper.
    doing what you see here can actually hurt your accuracy as it will ruin what little bedding you have for the action. especially on a rifle with a round receiver like the the 700 or savage

    • @dukeman7595
      @dukeman7595 7 лет назад +2

      I agree with your method using a dremel with a grinding wheel, instead of sandpaper and socket, just a little faster
      but you must be careful not to take to much off.

    I have used roofing aluminum circles on a Mosin-Nagant rifle as the Finn's did this to their rifles to improve accuracy which it does. I cut to fit and then punched the holes to fit the action screws. This is a good idea for weapons that have an internal magazine. 🎩♠️🎯🎱🇺🇲🏁🇺🇦🌻💮🌼🏵️🌸🏴‍☠️🏹

    Some manufacturers purposely put pressure points in the stock for harmonics. This will not be a cure all for every rifle.

    • @ArkansasPrepper

      I am not familiar so researched the rifle and the manufacturer states it is a floated barrel. Strange?

  • @Desoxyri
    @Desoxyri 5 лет назад +2

    I would not put in those "spacers". Loss of the bedding or intended contact points between the stock and the receiver could cause the stock to become lose. I had the end of my synthetic forearm touching my barrel, possibly because I often use a bipod. My solution was this: Take the barrel and reciever out, put a small stack of post-its in at the end of the barrel channel and remount the barrel and receiver firmly. Then I carefully heated, or rather warmed up the forearm with a hair-dryer on low. This forces the forearm to bend down slightly and your barrel is once again free floating without the risk of messing up the gun. Just remember to remove those post its.

      65 inch pounds is WAY to much for a synthetic stock UNLESS it is pillar bedded, About 30-35 inch pounds should be right. At 65 inch pounds the floor plate would start to sink into the plastic stock, dont ask me how i know this? LOL, i have weatherby S2 Vanguard in 6.5 Creed that i just dealt with this exact issue. Weatherby says 30-35 inch pounds.
