    Trevor - I am a three handicap golfer and have taken consistent lessons for I don’t want to say how many years. I have fought early extension my whole life.. thanks to this video. I finally had my aha moment.. I wish I could express the gratitude that I have for you and the way you explain the Golf swing. I just wanted to point out that it was the stance I was using was all wrong. Slightly bending my knees and bending from the chest, I finally became balanced for the first time. I only mention this because I know that there are thousands of guys just like me that have the same problem I was always taught to Bend from the waist and unfortunately, I was top-heavy. So a major shout out to you for your teaching ability. Johnny Dragon.

    Excellent!! Have NEVER heard about bending forward at lower chest rather than at pelvis. This change of axis on where to flex forward is a game changer allowing pelvis to move freely and eliminating lumbar strain. keep up the great instruction

    Kudos for this instruction. I have struggled with early extension for years. I use a GCQuad launch monitor and because of the early extension, my swing path has always been 5+ degrees in to out. This change has me hitting with a neutral path, simply by changing my setup. It has also increased my downward angle of attack and I am compressing the ball like never before without having to think about it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    My man…. Just found your content and early extension is my biggest problem with the driver. Put the ball under my feet and filmed myself. Figured out I was slightly outside with my takeaway and was standing up. This drill may have just changed my golf swing because I was finally able to swing freely. Ball speed jumped from 156 to 165. Center strikes way more often. Thank you for this. You got a new subscriber.

    I am what they call advance senior player. Always struggled with early extension . This was the best detail that has really resonated with me. I am a visual learner ,this was both visual and theoretical. Very thankful for this video. I have included this in my practice sessions . I have honestly picked up some good compression in my ball striking. I can hear the golf ball swishing down the fairway now. I do refer back to this video before I practice especially to check my set up. Peace.

    This simple setup tweak translated immediately onto the course. So many instructional videos dig right into the mechanics: spine tilt, shaft lean, clearing the hips, etc. All valid, but if you're like me, none of that was going to work because I was too forward of center and I was getting trapped. Most of us weekend warriors just need a little reset to get back to basics sometimes. Thanks for this.

    Worked today on the pelvic tuck to get into posture vs being top heavy as you discuss. It feels like starting a crunch exercise to come down into posture. Been struggling with other things, and not addressing this posture problem. Back to ground zero. Didn't have time at lunch to get video analysis, but while keeping my core engaged, I struck the ball much better. Cheers!

    Well dang. Never heard any of this except Eric Cogorno mentioning how to stand. Seems like this would be in everyone’s instruction to start from the basics. Maybe you should teach the teachers because you have solved in 13 minutes a fundamental flaw in my swing that causes two serious faults- weight staying back and follow thru balance. Between you and Eric C, heck I might get back in the mid 70s after an 18 year pause.

    This was such a good video and added so many interesting points to fixing this swing fault however as a +4,5 handicap pro who has forever struggled with early extension I do have a few deeper dive questions related to this. First of all this video spoke exactly to me because I definitely leverage the lower part of my spine… that is I flex the muscles in that area to help me feel like it’s solid and stable throughout the swing. But i am also wondering if early extension is actually necessarily a bad move in the golf swing. Some (a few) of the worlds best golfers seem to do it (Tyrell Hatton). I have always felt that tensing the lower back and core muscles helps create a lot of stability in the golf swing despite the bum moving off its original position on a vertical line. My question really is why we think keeping the bum and head on its original position is actually an optimal position to be in at impact? Is it just because it seems to make sense and looks nice. Just to be slightly contrarian I think if you have early extension and you’re repeating that same move consistently, your body will naturally find compensations but so long as you’re doing that (swing fault) consistently then you will be fine and produce solid results.

    • @tsgolf
      @tsgolf  Год назад +2

      Thanks for this message and the detail in it! I personally see this as being able to help people who struggle with safety and back issues as well. Having give in the spine at address allows us to work into good posture at impact when the club is moving its fastest.
      If you are a player that can time the extension of the spine and coordinate the release pattern / timing of the trail arm, GREAT! My only thing I’d say is this works and can as long as there isn’t to much lumbar extension through the ball and it can turn into more thoracic extension. Placing a lot of pressure on the lumbar spine is where I think a lot of injuries to L4-L5 come into play.
      Happy to discuss this with you anytime you’d like! I really enjoy conversations like this. Feel free to book a consultation call time with me if you’d like to dive deeper into it!
      Thanks,
      TS

      @@tsgolf I can’t tell you. I made that comment before I just spent a couple of hours in the simulator. Played heaps of the usual unreliable formation. Then with 10 minutes to go, I changed formation encouraging upper body power to lead more. For the first time ever, I had total control with less effort than ever before. It was crazy easy. What a breakthrough. The angst for months shed away. Thank you, Sir!

  • @dawn2788

    This could explain why I continously hit it great for a week, then have a month slump...bad spine posture. The bad slumps I bend from the lower spine (low hip), instead of the middle spine. I feel the arms move better & free, with the middle spine bend. Is there an exercise to build the middle spine bend, and make it completely dominant? I just saw your leaning over the fence tip, for middle spine bend.

    • @tsgolf
      @tsgolf  11 месяцев назад +1

      What is do a practice standing against a wall, feel like you are doing a standing sit-up, and then relax the lower spine so it isn’t full curved (slight anterior pelvis tilt) and that should give you feel! Thanks for the comment and feedback

    This is something I’ve been working on - as my lead hips work deeper in transition I’m starting to hit more pulls left? You briefly talked about this and needing to round the spine down to prevent the arms from straightening in the video…assume more spine bend near impact would help me get rid of the pull?

    • @tsgolf
      @tsgolf  Год назад +2

      So the big thing is making sure that the lead hip does not work too far backwards to wear your pressure is then moving too far into your Trailside, because that is where you can start to see pulls from. Even though the hip is working into more flexion, we still need the pressure of the hip to be over the lead foot. Let me know if that makes sense and thank you for the comment and question!
