everyone always told me i was too hunched over which is why i've been struggling to hit the ball. after watching this video i went to the range and noticed such a huge difference from standing more upright. more loft, more distance. crazy enough it fixed my slice in my driver from just standing more upright! insane. great video. thank you!

JTs the real deal, for a long time now. so easy to follow Eric and JT. Thanks, guys, Eric has more pieces with different guests than anyone in the game. The breakdown king, no doubt. Be safe boys.

Unreal! I've figured out my tendency is to over-do everything I'm told. over-did the athletic posture, looking almost like the bad example here 😂 great to get some confirmation that it's ok to stand taller. Would love more videos on commonly over exaggerated parts of the swing! At the moment I'm having trouble on where to draw the line between passive arms and getting stuck with the body out-racing the (too passive) arms.

I recently developed a problem with the dreaded shanks after never having an issue for 30+ years. Could not for the life of me come up with the reason why. Tried this "tuck the hips under" at setup for the past three sessions at the range. Was an absolute game changer with my ball striking! Thanks for the video boys!

Almost once or twice every golf season I play a round where I just shank almost every iron shot. It’s crazy how it comes out of no where then I can go out and shoot a 73 the next game

Probably, you're too bent over, and weight on your toes is the main problem with the dreaded shank.

This may have been the lesson I didn’t know I needed. Hugging the beach ball was the thought that was missing. I was trying to correct my early extension exactly as you said the wrong way was, by getting way into my heels and bent too far over, it just wasn’t working. I had a lot of toe strikes. I went out and gave this a try. My strikes moved to the center or toward the heel on miss hits. It will take some practice to get used to it but I believe this will eventually have a massive impact on my consistency. Thx

Great video! One thing I’ve noticed with a couple of playing partners ( and I can’t really tell them), is how different their practice swings are from their actual hits. The practice swing looks controlled, you know, pretty good form and technique,…. and then when they execute the shot, everything changes. I suppose I’ve done that a few times too. Thanks for the upload.

Was fun to see myself in this video at 2.24. One of my rare appearances on YT but as always in conjunction with the key word 'bad' 🙂. In fact I have start trying this before I saw this video but I have a really hard time to hit the ball consistently. Very often I hit it with the heel or fat it resulting in a left hook (often there is water there). When I do get it right, it gets longer but the old bad swing is a lot more reliable (because I've done it for years).

Eric’s swing is so good it’s easy to make small changes. For us that have scar tissue it is a challenge especially at golf course speed. I’m good on the range ,taking it on the course is tough. JT and Eric are very good instructors.

It’s amazing how easy they make it look. I’ve been working on this for a couple of weeks and it’s tanking my scores . Went from 70s to 90s just trying to open those hips up at impact. For 2-3 years I’ve played where I look exactly the same at impact as I do at address. I wanna fix it because it looks gosh awful. I don’t understand why I can easily get my hips open playing baseball but just can’t do it during the golf swing. So frustrating. I’ve watched 100s of videos.

Hey Jake! Damn---sorry to hear that man! I would find a great coach to work with ASAP in person or on line so they can see your swing and help identify and fix the main 1-2 root issues to get you back on track and focused on right things! Good coach should be able to help you with that and get back on track fast

  • @benkraus3

I’ve found an easy mistake to make using this feel is that the head goes forward at the top and causes impact to happen off the hosel and dreaded shank. Making sure the hips stay back at the top is critical.

how extreme or exaggerated should the hips back motion on downswing be? i tried this today. if i am a natural fader should the ball still be fading? is the point of this to help your elbow find the slot? if I am pushing the ball, am I not rotating my hips enough? I was crushing the ball when I hit it well, but I found myself to push and slice it more than I'd like at the range. On the course, I didn't have much feel. I found that if I exaggerate this movement its hard for me. However, when I keep these movements pretty restricted (basically just have the idea in my head), I hit the ball more pure. I think I will squat and focus on my left shirt and pant seems and elbow to hit the ball straight or slight draw or fade.

The shanks via EE occasionally creeps into my game and it makes me feel physically sick. I find by turning my right foot inwards at set up has cured it with not much effect on ball striking. I also find that by setting up with straight legs gets rid of it - whilst this is not ideal, if you get the shanks mid-round, it will give you a way to play!!

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  5 месяцев назад

Yes for sure.....some of those guys are so darn good they can get away with it lol....Keegan Bradley another one! But for the average golfer we work with they aren't able to get away with that....probably 99/100 will early extend from there BUT if you setup like Tony and it works for you ALL good no need to change!

I tried this today and felt like im lower and more cover to the ball? , my right foot also doesnt come off. However i chunk more often and doesnt feel a lot of weight to the left, i dont know how to rotate through after my body is lowered from the butt back.

    • @PerformanceGolfZone

agreed! So does Keegan Bradley and some others.....I see some players with lots of talent able to move that way.....but thats why they are the 1% of the 1% :)
For most amateurs Ive seen coaching over the past 15 years that setup ALMOST always leads to early extension (say 98% of the time)

  • @lucchisausage7545

I have worked on this, one thing it causes me to do is to hit it fat a lot because I've been someone who comes up in the downswing with early extension, so now I feel like staying down causes me to chunk it. Very frustrating.

Hey! Make sure your trail arm and trail wrist are more BENT so make up for the body being closer to the ground (this is what best ball strikers do)
