It's pretty cool to see my Uncle Pete in his wheelhouse. He was an amazing musician and person. Pretty cool to read comments on here who loved his work too. We miss him terribly, but it's cool to come see him on RUclips.
I used to see Pete in Arizona Smoke Review and RT's band then when he came up on the train from London to my Oxfordshire village to record periodically and down the local pub, plus at the bar at Cropredy festivals, which he seemed to prefer to backstage. A great all round musician. It was a terrible loss for him to leave. Peace! John
Saw this lineup live and it was one of the Best concerts I have ever been to. Pete Zorn was an amazing multi instrumentalist and always made whoever he played with sound so much better. Glad to have met him and thanked him for his contribution to music.
The Strawberry Music Festival, evening, beautiful outdoors Camp Mather near Yosemite, full "house", Richard played this at the end, blew the sky off the joint, had everyone instantly singing the refrain in harmony, he finished with us still singing..and we never stopped as we all went back to our campsites....legendary!!! You can still hear us singing there...
Great performance but also great camera work! There's also an amazingly fun version of this song with Thompson and Cajun dynamo Jo-el Sonnier on RUclips.
see...this is the kind of stuff some people don't get today....it's crude...it's raw...it's when music was music. not the synth garbage we hear today. definitely not polished but most certainly some of the best we'll ever hear NOT being played on the radio. BRILLIANT!
Loved that Michael Breckerish squeal the alto player wrung out. Another version of this has an alto and a cajun air compressor trading eights. Crazy good, but then RT and his bands always are.
Gosh no, it's the maestro's son, Teddy on guitar with Pete Zorn on sax, Danny Thompson on bass and Michael Jerome on drums. (I'm sure Simon would be delighted that you think he'd look so young!)
Firt time I have seen Thompson playing anything other than the strat...what guitar is he using, does anyone know? . He's arguably the finest rock'n'roll guitarist the UK has ever produced. Nice to see him "winging it" like this, even at his advanced age his guitar breaks always have a dangerous quality to them. Its not often you see people stil willing to take a chance on stage like this. Nice to see the Great Danny Thompson on bass,,too.
how RUDE. with the political climate and the economy (btw..i'm from the USA). yes...I love the united states..but we're not exactly pulling any brownie points with anyone....so chill out.

Every one of RT's backup musicians is someone I would pay to see by himself. Pete was no exception.
Big love for Pete Zorn. Amazing musician.

@@ParcelOfRogue I was a kid when Pete and my Uncle Bill were in the Smoke Review. I've loved hearing the stories over the years.
Anyone who can hang with Richard on stage is a musical legend in my book.
This is the best version I've ever heard of this song!
Can't stop listening, I must be the biggest 16 year old fan of Thompson!
Pete Zorn, miss seeing you on stage with Richard. R.I.P.

Kid on the drums holding it all together while Pete and Richard twist off. Love it
Is that the drummer Richard plays with now in the trio? Michael Jerome?
this is fantastic , best rt line up, rt and pete zorn [great mysician ] they all tear it up, .best version ive ever heard
The late, great Pete Zorn!! Such a talent and such a nice guy R.I.P.
Only just discovered this Mans music
Just amazing!
This track really reminds of the Doors '
And that's a good thing!
Pete Zorn. A fantastic musician and a true gentleman. It has been a pleasure to have worked with you on a few occasions. You will be sorely missed. x
What a guitarist...what a band....what a Zorn

One of the greatest live performances ever

Seeing Richard, Danny and Michael play this from 5 feet away at Shank Hall in Milwaukee is the highlight of my concert-going life.
Best RT lin-up ever. Wonderful.
Excellent version.
RT guitar solos are pure art.
One of the few songs/performers that makes me a little proud to be in that generation.
that really is the best version of that i've heard too, normally i can't wait to get to the insane guitar solos but the sax solos are incredible too
Check out the duet between RT and Jo-El Sonnier with the Night Music house band too. ruclips.net/video/v08TBErkp3s/видео.html Also great
This is fantastic!
I LOVE THIS MAN!!! And, what a band.
I first heard this song when it came out, and it was on our country station. the classic country station still plays it. love it!

Saw this incarnation in Harrisburg in the Ballroom next to The Whitaker Center....also the site of many a fine show with RT and the Boys of Summer.
Richard is the man.
Loved that Michael Breckerish squeal the alto player wrung out. Another version of this has an alto and a cajun air compressor trading eights. Crazy good, but then RT and his bands always are.
I've noticed that Scottish TV seems to take more trouble getting the sound just right. This sounds fab, even this picture is grainy. Keep on rockin'
RT and band did a fabulous version of this at this year's Cropredy (2012).
I saw RT a few months ago when he sang this song... and we sang along!
Sometimes it feels good to cry...

GREAT PERFORMANCE
They are having fun!
How on earth did the audience manage to stay so still?
WOW !
They are Haninge fun!
Farewell Pete Zorn. A musical hero gone. Devastated today.
Holy crap. Pete Zorn died? I had no idea! I was just wondering the last time I saw RT live (in November) why he wasn't there.
RIP Pete Zorn
Fabulous video ... thanks so much for this!
I love this song
Such a great performance.
Has there ever been a better quality (visually) upload?
Damn that's good.
Wonderfull!
TIGHT!
With band this was always a rousing live song
I just raised $200 on Facebook for Saint Jude ‘s, God bless

I believe it is a Danny Farrington made guitar.
It's Good Mood Brain Food.
Patty loveless Also has a version
like this
Thanks for that. Is that his sprog playing the danelectro? - Last time I saw Thompson it was with Gregson, Collister etc.
RT performances now are heavily weighted toward solo acoustic or Electric Trio, so "Tear-Stained Letter" has become somewhat of a rarity.
can't hang with Jo El Sonnier circa 1986
They aren't Cajun but they are real good!
ace
@martinterri yurope? There be dragons there.
@thesound59 If he was trying to make himself look sympathetic in that situation, he deserved a "bunch of fives."
Like Jo-El Sonnier's verison better!
Scott Martin That Agee 100% kind enjoy it Cajun Sound.
