Yeah I dont think this guy is the person I'd take restoration advice from .......I think he needs some kind of restraining order to stop him getting near anything valuable to the literary world. Sorry but I winced at the way he even touches the poor things. I'm suffering some truma at having accidentaly crushing a snail......this has not calmed me down.
You can find paper and paper correction fluid that's closer to the actual color of the pages. They have them at the art store, perhaps a print shop or office supply, as well.
1st book is like my fav books given by my grandpa. When I was young, I was shocked to see the book falling apart, all the pages were just mixed up. I didn’t know what to do and just taped them tightly.
I hope you're crediting and paying him for the content. His channel is awesome I've followed it for a while. He doesn't get many view so I'd encourage people to support his own channel.
Acceptable repair for personal use, but there is a better way to repair the spine of the text block. For that you would require a pva liquid glue, a book press, and a bone folder. In fact, to consolidate the lamination of the jacket spine to the paper, a bone folder would be preferable. Additionally, it would also be beneficial to use a soft cloth and weight between each glueing stage and 24-72 hours of waiting before proceeding to the next stage. This allows sufficient curing time and prevents warping from excessive moisture. Finally, standard bond paper is not acid free and will degrade quickly. Acid free is the ticket. Unfortunately, perfect binding is far from perfect, so there is only so much you can do to restore these books. That said, this is so soothing to listen to and watch, and this person is clearly passionate about this. Such a pleasant voice, too.
It's the sound for me. It's too sharp. I'm not a fan of turning page sounds either. But the content is good. I probably have a couple books I could use this for.
I was just listening to a Frank Muller audiobook of him reading The Gunslinger by Steven King and he sounds exactly like Frank. Even the microphone sounds the same.
I found this very interesting......I always wanted to know how they restored book bindings....seriously.....thank you...I have 1 foot in the grave and I am still learning....
That’s a beautiful book and I’m glad it’s saved. But I’m just a hobby bookbinder, I learned everything from RUclips and I think you should have used some other methods to get a cleaner and sturdier result. Like getting/making a book press and doing a “perfect binding”. Well, good job saving books. 👍
I also have found a music book from 1915. It has a spine, fragile and about half gone. The pages are somewhat yellow, but still some still shiny. There is one stain and some writing on in ink on one page. Ist edition, 1915 from Carl Fischer's Music Library. I feel it's worth saving. What do you think?
Knowing general shittiness of glue sticks, amount of time it took him to attach strip primed with glue to a cover made me mad. Won't hold even for one re-read.
I have a recommendation, anybody familiar with the channel "Two minute papers"? I think there might be something fans of this channel would like The content is about machine learning and image simulation, niche but made accessible by a very enthusistic host
Wow I'm shocked that you use prit-stick. Whenever I use that, it just comes away after a while (Not book repairing like here, I'm just talking sticking things on paper after a while the glue dries and it started falling off and you can just pull it off really easy. I thought as a professional you would have had some stronger stuff in a bottle with a brush or something.

I was thinking the same thing. Furniture polish on a book?? I'm sure it makes it sparkle right after you put it on but I can only imagine how over time its going to eat away at the ink and paper, doing more harm than good. He even covers words on the back page with that massive strip of paper he's glued to it. Really a shame.
Not a great restoration un the beginning. He glued the paper to the end of the book and covered all of the words. If the book was that important he wouldnt have done that. He could have gotten a thing piece of cardboard to strengthen and connected the spinf that didnt mess with the literature.
I believe it would actually be an English dialect, there are different parts of Britain with different accents that are exclusive to that part, they would be considered British because they are nowhere else.
There is no such thing as a "British" accent. It's four countries with varying regional accents, dialects and languages, Welsh, Scots Gaelic, Irish Gaelic and English of course.
You forgot Scots (the language). 🤓 But yes, most people know there is a plethora of British dialects and accents, and not one. The same is true of American English: someone from Boston and someone from Alabama sound almost nothing alike. And yet we still refer to them as “American” accents because they do sound more similar to each other and are easily distinguishable from accents in Britain or places like Australia or New Zealand. That’s the reason we group things together. To distinguish them from other/different groups. Same goes for “British accents”: I have no idea where exactly the speaker in this video is from, but I know it’s not North America, and it’s gotta be somewhere in Britain, most likely England.

Relaxing video. Not a good way to restore books at all.

Oh man, I found Jules through one of his retro gaming videos, it's nice to see him getting some ASMR recognition.

Unintentional asmr is superior
This is so relaxinggg
Finally. An ASMR video with a Westcountry accent
Would you please consider establishing these asmr as podcasts? That’d be great bcz it’s easier to sleep with podcast timer rather than youtube

Master Bruce, I took the liberty of repairing your copy of Forbidden Planet.
This is awesome.
I got this video on repeat
I saw the movie on TMC...loved it.... Forbidden Planet
Is there any way to reduce oxidation in old books. I noticed your pages are in good shape, only yellow on the edges. Thank you.
If you crush those book scrapings up and snort them, you will absorb the same content quality as watching the movie version.
Very soothing voice
Knowing general shittiness of glue sticks, amount of time it took him to attach strip primed with glue to a cover made me mad. Won't hold even for one re-read.
Weird RUclips recommended but great video
what kind of polish do you yse
Outstanding specimen! How d'you find them?
show me another video that starts with a man rubbing a book with a toothbrush, and i'll show you a real green dog.
The binding is going over the text bud🤣
I actually used to do this but only with old hardbacks
12:40 That'll work :p
I would have made the sides of the spine cover thinner so as to not cover any of the print, though it would be less stable, I suppose.

Why on Earth would you ever scrub a book with a toothbrush? Surely it abrades the book more than it cleans it.
