It's baffling is the whole motorbike test scenario. I passed my cbt earlier this year and find I have pretty much a lot of freedom on the roads apart from motorways which are pretty awful anyway and I have done no theory .just a cbt. Yet I could be on the roads for 10 years on a cbt with a shit load of experience and still have to take the theory ,mod 1 and 2 . It's just crazy how much freedom you have on a cbt on your own on the roads unsupervised.
Thank god I took my test in 1991, no theory test, no hazard perception test, just a CBT and a 20 minute ride on a DT125. 24 years old to get a full bike licence now? I was driving class 1 HGV at 21…. Licence laws are a joke now
I think if you do your A1 at 17 and pass then you should automatically get your A2 licence when you get to 19. Then at 21 you can go for a test to get your full license if you want too. I took my bike test in 2006 as I was over the age I could go direct to a A licence and I hadn't rode for over 25 years a motorbike so the law is a bit crap it's all to do with ££££££
Wouldn't we get pulled more by police without L plates wouldn't you think and it can be quite annoying to have to stop and pull out your licence and then waste your time just because they were wondering how comes you got a small bike with no L plates
A1 is not worth doing, better of doing an a2 if your 19 or the full A if you’re over 24. A1 only allows you to have passengers but you are restricted to a little 125. With an A2 obtainable at 19 you can ride a yamaha mt07 throttle restricted for 2 years after which you can use the progressive access scheme and get your full A which allows you to ride whatever you want, any engine size.
Was cheaper for me to take the A1 than redo my cbt and much more beneficial. I also saved a load of money on my A2 since I already had been through the process
A point that’s not well known, you can progress from A1 to A2 by just repeating mod 1&2 but if you want to skip A2 to full A you will need to pass another theory test before completing mod 1&2 to obtain full A I found this out when jumping from A1 to full A, even a lot of instructors are not aware of this, I had many phone calls with them and DVSA,
Any tips for the theory? I’ve just got a job but it’s 15 miles away and I just got my BCT license. I need to get an a1 but I’m shit with theory’s. How did you revise for it and how was the test?
I've recently passed my theory for the first time. The short cut is REVISE!! as long as u study for it u should be fine i didn't even pay for any app I just watched RUclips video on highway code and done few mock test on the gov website
just download those theory test revision apps and just use em daily and study the shit outta the questions. Once you learn em enough, it'll be super ez tbh
Hi, yes 23 now and did my full test over summer (took me a while to get round to it with corona and things). All well and safe thanks, but a busy life with work and part time uni doesn't give me a whole load of time for riding and video production
Is the A1 test easier than A2 or A tests ? Are the tests the exact same only difference is the more powerful motorcycle used for the A2 and A license tests?
The OP explained this poorly... you can use your own bike on the Mod 1 and 2 however. it must have insurance, MOT and Tax, and since its basically impossible to get a bike insured without a license, the idea is thrown out of the window.
@@reposter6434 I re-read and you are still wrong. The point that I was making is that if you did your CBT, you probably already have your own 125cc which is insured. You do not need a licence to be insured on a 125. Then, you can just ride up to the test centre and do your tests.
Mental isn't it... You've passed! Now you can go and ride the bike you've been riding all this time, remove the L plate and sit at 50 (indicated 60) on a motorway. Cheeeeers! NOT Even my old RD125LC 2 stroke felt slow and that indicated 95. You should be given more allowance considering the amount of time effort and discipline required to pass a test. I did my A2 when I was 19 and got a VFR400 NC30 and didnt bother restricting it to the 33bhp of 2011 regs.
I was talking to a bike dealer about licensing (I don't have a full bike licence just car license although I've ridden 125s on and off for years) and I said that perhaps instead of s full 50cc licence automatically being given to full car license holders perhaps it should be upped to 225cc...he said 250 would be better ..because If it was the case I would probably have bought another 125 or even a 250...I currently ride a 500cc piaggio mp3 trike which I'm covered for on my car licence
@Ryanpetrolhead cbt is cheap amd the training is the exact same a1/a2/direct access. Surely you saved nothing? Fair play to you for doing your test but if you want a bigger bike then you'll have to do the exact same test again meaning more money overall compared to cbt and then test
Doing the a1 tests on my own bike worked out cheaper than retaking the CBT and is permanent. Then when I booked my A2 test I only did 1 day training as I already had a license and was just upgrading it. I paid less than half the price doing my A2 compared to anyone I know who didn't have A1 before it. This video is over 6 years old and I have a full A license now
Also I didn't do any training for the A1. Then both times I upgraded my license I did 1 day training purely so I wasn't doing a test on a bike I hadn't rode before

How much BHP does that bike have? Ive been trying to find a legal 2 stroke 125cc to ride at 17 but 2 stokes produce too much power? is that bike restricted?
CBT 125s are upto 15bhp. You can get e.g. aprilla rs125 2 stroke that is de-restricted but just not tell the insurance company. (They can get upto like 35bhp lol) I wouldn't advise it tho but alot of ppl do it. I reckon get a 4 stroke. YZF,CBR,WR,CG,MT are good 125s that are at 14 or 15bhp which is the fastest u can get with a CBT
Standard it's restricted to 15hp to be A1 legal. Full power it's around 28hp but with lots of tuning potential, when I sold mine it was 144cc and around 37hp
I have a question. I got an A1 licence in Greece in 2019 but i don't have a bike yet. I am looking to buy one now in Germany but some people told me that i have to restrict the bike to 48bhp for 2 years before i can actually drive a bike with more than 48bhp. Does anyone now if that's true?
A1 license (16y/o) in germany allows you to ride a 125cc and 15hp bike. The A2 license (18y/o) allows you to ride any bike with up to 96hp, but it has to be restricted to 48hp. The A license (20y/o if you already had the A2 at 18y/o or if not 24y/o) allows you to ride any bike. You need to make separate courses and test for every one of the licenses, but if you had the previous "weaker" license, for 2 years, you only need to take a riding test.
Interestingly if you pass A1 on an auto, you would be allowed to ride an auto on motorway with pillion without L, BUT, you also gain permanent provisional 125 manual so you could in theory ride a 125 manual with L and NOT on motorway forever with no more CBTs. Weird I know but as far as I can tell this is true.
@@Light-oo3vu you can ride at 16 on a cbt for as many years as you like but you can't carry passengers or use the motorway and you haft to retake your cbt every 2 years.
