Passed my CBT last year. One thing I can tell you tis do NOT be nervous! The instructors are there to teach you to be safe, not to fail you. Like Ecosse said it's not a test, it's training. Just take your time, listen to the instructors advice and you'll do just fine! If anything, being on the bike for the first time will be scary. @@KrisVickers-wn6dd Yeah some places do one day, others do 2 day, up here in Scotland at least it's a 2 day course usually. My advice here is to pay attention to the instructors. If you haven't shifted gears before on a bike, they will teach you that of course, but in my experience I shifted really slowly. Don't rush yourself but don't avoid yourself making progress either. @@KrisVickers-wn6dd Shifting will be explained by the instructors, I'll leave it to them to actually teach you as I'm not really qualified lmao But, what I can say early on, is that leaning with the bike is the main way of steering. At the 5-15MPH speeds, it is mainly just turning handlebars regularly. Once you get to around 20-25MPH it'll become a bit harder to turn the handlebars, and you need to lean with the bike to turn instead. I had to do an extra 2 days for mine due to both nerves and stupidity on my end. But I will say, there's no shame in taking extra time if they offer it and you don't feel ready for the road.

Great vlog as always. I had a close one when out on the road doing my CBT. I was about to turn right from a main road to a side road, and an impatient guy in a car overtook me. Just as well I did my lifesaver. I had never been on a bike before, but luckily I had been driving cars for 30 odd years, which helped me too. God forbid if it had been someone young with no road experience, it would've been a different story. My instructor was fuming and went chasing after them and gave him a right mouthful. How dangerous was that? Especially knowing we were learners and wearing highviz vests too. There's some right idiots on the roads. So anyone about to take your CBT or still learning, always be extra vigilant of what's going on around you. Safe riding everyone 🏍👍

These videos have helped ease my nerves and allowed me to get an understanding on whats involved in a CBT and i feel more confident now. Will hopefully remember to update here tomorrow 👍
@DanielFFA yes I managed to get it on my first try. The riding school I used was absolutely brilliant, and the tutor had the time and patience of a saint. I personally didn't need more time than usual, but a few others did. This, of course, put my mind at ease, and the rest of the course came easy enough. I will advise just taking your time and trying to get your knowledge up on road signs and have a basic understanding of the highway code before attempting. My course we got asked before the 1hr "road test" what certain signs meant and majority didn't know them even when one of the guys had already passed his cbt 2 years prior and had been riding that entire time already which was kinda scary. I do wish you the best and if you find it difficult with gears just remember that if you pass on a scooter you can still buy and ride a geared bike where you could learn gears in your own time possibly on an empty car park 😉
I did my CBT back in June 2022. Aced all the bits before the road ride. When I was actually on the road, did forget lifesavers a few times, went over rather than round a roundabout, and when it was nearly the end of the road ride, took the wrong exit at a roundabout. Thought I'd have to come back for more training when the instructor went silent, but turns out I managed to get my certificate. You can make mistakes, but I guess as long as you make them safely (does that even make sense?)
Nice one dude 👍 ...Even though I have my CBT...and now have my first bike at last! Buying a bike 108 miles away and riding it home was probably not the brightest thing I've ever done with only two hours road ride experience, but all the info I've picked from your channel has been a godsend! Haha, you being hit by a fly reminded me, that virtually no one in RUclips seems to mention flies...I was encrusted with bugs on my helmet and jacket by the time I got home 😂 Cheers again and ride safe 😁

First of all, subbed. Everything explained so well, fully understood everything and really good approach to the way its formatted. Looking at getting my first 125 soon, as a kid we messed around on dirt bikes and quads but now with the expense of cars i think getting a 125 to commute would be really beneficial. I'm nervous but looking forward too, i just need to decide on what I'm going for. Automatic or manual transmission and then what bike. Looking at a ktm duke, apparently a nice easy bike for a beginner so i guess I'll find out soon
Thanks a lot for this video I sit my CBT in a few days and was looking for videos to help and I seen your video and looking at the route you took throughout the video you were near me and it helps me with confidence to know that there is alot of people around thanks alot

All jokes aside, top quality video as someone looking to sit their CBT and has allot of apprehension and stress about the unknowns its really helped me get the ball rolling. Interesting point re learning at a different pace. I was on manual on my CBT, another student was a pizza delivery bloke renewing his CBT for the fifth time on an automatic scooter, so plenty of experience. Two hours in I was still a bit ropey on the clutch control, while pizza boy was acing the u turns, slaloms etc. Instructor stopped my day at noon and told me to come back for continuation, at further expense.
Hi mate, it's not uncommon to be asked back for another session, this should be included in the price of the CBT though, you shouldn't have to pay any extra.

Hi m8 welcome from Glasgow. My wife going to harleys Edinburgh at Wednesday. She is verry nervous 😓 . I try explain some couple of things how to start riding but I think I doing something wrong.
roundabouts are the one thing i’m nervous about when i do my cbt, ive got it in a couple weeks, not the positioning or anything i just feel like i night tip over while going round till the last exit
I wouldn't worry about it, Murray. Your instructor on the day will make sure your both happy and confident enough to go out on the road. As for going round roundabouts, the bike will be absolutely fine. You'd be surprised what you can do with a bike at slower speeds, like going round roundabouts for example. You can literally ride about at about 2-3 mph and the bike won't tip over. Once you get used to doing basic things in the morning like riding about and turning the bike, you'll feel a lot more confident about roundabouts. 🤜🤛
I got my cbt recently. The training felt like an absolute shambles. My plan is to go straight for my full license, with a different school. But should I choose to get a 125 for a while I'll probably do another cbt or get a few hours training somewhere else. So many red flags with the school I used
Thanks for the video mate. I have a question: Is it possible for a beginner to earn their CBT license after their CBT test without taking a theory test?
Ask him if it’s ok to take your clutch hand off the handle bar on your CBT like he does numerous times in this video. Basically ignore this foolish rider.
I have a full driving license but i passed my test after 2001 do i still need to complete a CBT to ride my sym shark 50cc if so do you get the choice of doing the cbt on a automatic ped or a geared bike as I'd much rather do mine on a auto moped

I moved from America and really want to get my hands on a ktm 690 or husqvarna 701 but from my understanding, I'll need to wait till I'm 25yo in order to get the licence to ride those? I'm 22 right now and i can ride up to 125/400cc if i remember correctly
Hi mate, 24 in the UK for a full licence. You can get it a little earlier if you go down the A2 route, but because you're 22, I'd hold off. You can always look into getting your CBT done in the meantime. 🤜🤛
Its not a fail but they may only give you a few trys but if you do put your foot down it's not an immediate fail as it may be your first time riding and they will let you try again and if you then put your foot down like he says they will move onto another task then go back and if it happens again then they may have to terminate the test. Idk if this helps but its the best I could do. 👍
Hey man. Your CBT is a basic training course. It should take a full day to complete. This should cover everything from basic bike control to basic highway code.
Hi there bit confused here… I’m doing my CBT on the 18th, feel pretty confident about the riding side of things as I’ve ridden push bikes for years but could you tell me what actually defines “you must have basic knowledge of the high way code”. What defines the high way code? I’ve bought the book but is it the whole thing I have to read or only certain parts of it. I also bought a know your traffic signs book which I’ll read as I know it’s not all of them because I won’t be going on the motorway since it’s only a CBT but still confused as to what they mean by the Highway Code! Any info will help! Cheers
@@user17923 it was ridiculously easy, just super basics like simple traffic signs, it’s just common sense, we spent about 20 mins of theory, you don’t get asked individually it’s like a full group discussion. Good luck!

You can make mistakes, but I guess as long as you make them safely (does that even make sense?)
thank you im less stressed about my CBT coming up im almost 16 and im getting a 50cc moped for my 16th birthday
That's great to hear, always good to get your nerves settled. Have fun on your CBT. 🤜🤛
Passed my CBT today, thanks for the tips and advice! Hope to see you on the road!
Nice one dude 👍 ...Even though I have my CBT...and now have my first bike at last! Buying a bike 108 miles away and riding it home was probably not the brightest thing I've ever done with only two hours road ride experience, but all the info I've picked from your channel has been a godsend! Haha, you being hit by a fly reminded me, that virtually no one in RUclips seems to mention flies...I was encrusted with bugs on my helmet and jacket by the time I got home 😂
Cheers again and ride safe 😁
🤣🤣 yeah flies are all over my helmet and bike if I'm out for a few hours. Especially those bloody midges.
@@MotoEcosse haha, I have experienced the Scottish midges many times 😂
Great explanation I'm 42 and planning on doing my cbt, but I'm having problems trying to find someone to sign my photos for my provisional lol, I'm so nervous but watching these videos helps alot thanks👍
42 here, do my CBT Monday, bike delivered Tuesday (MT125)
Thank you for the video im doing my cbt tomorrow was feeling sorta nervous now i feel like i have the right information appreciate it my guy
No problem mate, glad you found it helpful. Have fun in your CBT. 🤜🤛
I passed 💪🏻
Congratulations mate. 🤜🤛
thank you for this video, im 40 years old and never been on a bike and taking my CBT soon, you have given me a good understanding of what to expect. still going to be very nervous though.
I have my CBT in 5 days and this helped me out so much thx
Great little video in sunny Stirling! Thanks a lot! I'm 56 and really keen to get on two wheels - a wee bit south of the border though!
taking my cbt this saturday thanks for the refresher iv not ridden bikes in 16 years great vlog dude
I like the way you explain each and everything 😊 really nice to see
i'm barely 1/3 in and already you're so informative.
thanks for the video
First of all, subbed. Everything explained so well, fully understood everything and really good approach to the way its formatted.
Looking at getting my first 125 soon, as a kid we messed around on dirt bikes and quads but now with the expense of cars i think getting a 125 to commute would be really beneficial.
I'm nervous but looking forward too, i just need to decide on what I'm going for. Automatic or manual transmission and then what bike.
Looking at a ktm duke, apparently a nice easy bike for a beginner so i guess I'll find out soon
125cc is only good choice is Honda
Thanks a lot for this video I sit my CBT in a few days and was looking for videos to help and I seen your video and looking at the route you took throughout the video you were near me and it helps me with confidence to know that there is alot of people around thanks alot
That was great thankyou,im downsouth clicked on your video and youre driving through my hometown absolutely brilliant 🙂
Finally got my provisional. Next week Saturday I’m doing my cbt
That's great to hear. CBT is a great course. Have fun. 🤜🤛
Nice bit of CBT chat - thanks dude
Great info and advice m8 in your vlog 👍
I hope to do my cbt soon n i will be doing it on an sv650 as im goin to go on to do DA test as soon as im ready after it .
At 43 Its def taking me out of my comfort zone learning to ride these complicated but exhilarating machines.
Def some nerves about doing the tests but hopefully once im on the bike i will forget about being nervous.
I love you for this I’ve been so nervous about doing my CBT
Top stuff lad. Best part of the video was seeing you are also Scottish. All jokes aside, top quality video as someone looking to sit their CBT and has allot of apprehension and stress about the unknowns its really helped me get the ball rolling. Just hope the instructor i get is as calm and educated as yourself.
Thanks for the advice 🏆
Interesting point re learning at a different pace. I was on manual on my CBT, another student was a pizza delivery bloke renewing his CBT for the fifth time on an automatic scooter, so plenty of experience. Two hours in I was still a bit ropey on the clutch control, while pizza boy was acing the u turns, slaloms etc. Instructor stopped my day at noon and told me to come back for continuation, at further expense.
Hi mate, it's not uncommon to be asked back for another session, this should be included in the price of the CBT though, you shouldn't have to pay any extra.
Yeah this is precisely why I'm not doing manual. I would definitely be asked to come back, and probably fail even then lmao.
@@AM-dk5ymI retook and passed CBT with another school, got the clutch control sorted and then toured Vietnam on a manual. Full licence course next month.
Good luck with your CBT.
Got my CBT on the 7th. Bought a Honda CB125F and can’t wait to get on and ride. Look for every excuse to just sit on it but I’m nervous about falling and damaging it
Hey, James. I really wouldn't worry too much about dropping it, just make sure and take your time while pushing it around and start everything off nice, slow and calmly and you'll be absolutely fine. 🤜🤛
I hope your CBT went well, I have mine today!!👌
@@kanesmith3225 it went fine mate, there was ice everywhere and bang on rush hour traffic. If I can do it in those conditions you’ll breeze it. Good luck and have fun
@@kanesmith3225 how did it go?
@@IIxMURPHYxII good stuff bro!
Amazing video im going to book mine tomorrow morning thankyou!
Hoping to do my CBT soon as they was a huge help. Many thanks
Have fun on your CBT mate. 🤜
Do yourselves a favour and properly study the highway code before going! Many will have Element E terminated for doing something illegal or dangerous...
You'll also practice junctions during Element C 👍
Quality video that man 👌
Doing mine tomorrow at the age of 28. I wasn't allowed on bikes when I was young :(
Best of luck mate. 🤜🤛
Doing my CBT tomorrow, been on my mind all day, but watching your video has made calmed me down, , thanks...
Have fun, Mervin. It's a great course and a great day. 🤜🤛
great video I'm looking to do my CBT soon....
I know bits from my brother who rides also.
yeh same
Brilliant video - thx for taking the time to tell us what to expect
belta watch that lad
thanks for sharing
Hi m8 welcome from Glasgow. My wife going to harleys Edinburgh at Wednesday. She is verry nervous 😓 . I try explain some couple of things how to start riding but I think I doing something wrong.
Great video and information, thank you.
thank you for this, great explanation
roundabouts are the one thing i’m nervous about when i do my cbt, ive got it in a couple weeks, not the positioning or anything i just feel like i night tip over while going round till the last exit
Thank you mate appreciate it alot👍
Funny fact Ive turned up for CBT and Im advanced rider and Instructor thought I was DVSA inspector when I rode on 1000cc bike after test
My cbt was a good laugh haha but i finnally passed mod 2 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Awesome to hear. Congrats 👏. 🤜🤛
@@MotoEcosse thanks bud your vids hrlped 👌
Brilliant video. Thanks for the advice
Another quality video awesome Moto
Cheers bud 🤜🤛
I got my cbt recently. The training felt like an absolute shambles. My plan is to go straight for my full license, with a different school. But should I choose to get a 125 for a while I'll probably do another cbt or get a few hours training somewhere else. So many red flags with the school I used
Thanks mate 👍
Excellent grate advice
Very helpful. thanks.
I have my cbt in June. My mate has told me to do it for the freedom feeling but I'm shitting bricks and I don't know why 😂😂
When I get my bike 3 years now should I go on private land and practise riding around?
Thanks for the video mate. I have a question: Is it possible for a beginner to earn their CBT license after their CBT test without taking a theory test?
Ask him if it’s ok to take your clutch hand off the handle bar on your CBT like he does numerous times in this video. Basically ignore this foolish rider.
Thanks a million
I have a full driving license but i passed my test after 2001 do i still need to complete a CBT to ride my sym shark 50cc if so do you get the choice of doing the cbt on a automatic ped or a geared bike as I'd much rather do mine on a auto moped
Really nervous over doing my cbt got it Friday
No need to be nervous, Carter. CBT is great fun. Just a chilled training day. Instructor won't make you do anything you're not comfortable with if you're not ready. You'll have a blast mate. 🤜🤛
Hi mate cool info bless you no on big bike test mock 1 mock 2 do you have to take a theory test like a car theory safe👌
Hi, DJ. Yes mate you have to complete a theory and complete the CBT course before mod 1 and 2. 🤜🤛
@@MotoEcosse cool man ok thanks got CBT test on Tuesday be ok cus gone it before in past blessings 🤘
aswome video bro am stiting my test next month falkirk
i have my cbt coming up and just wanna say thanks for the video i have a bike already (Lexmoto LS-N 125) just needed that comfort on actually getting the certificate :D P.S gotta love scotland haha
Have fun on your CBT mate and enjoy your new bike. Ride safe. 🤜🤛
Can i ride a 125cc motorbike when i turn 17 with only a CBT test
Great stuff
Is it true you fail on figure of 8 if you put your foot down ?
Its not a fail but they may only give you a few trys but if you do put your foot down it's not an immediate fail as it may be your first time riding and they will let you try again and if you then put your foot down like he says they will move onto another task then go back and if it happens again then they may have to terminate the test. Idk if this helps but its the best I could do. 👍
Thank you very much : )
Hello mate what questions about the highway code should we expect on element do of the cbt?
Hey man. Your CBT is a basic training course. It should take a full day to complete. This should cover everything from basic bike control to basic highway code.
Do you have to have a motorcycle to do this CBT?
Might be a silly question. Im 30, no license or experience. Would you recommend I go straight for my A license, or play it safe and just get my A2?
Do the A license. It’s practically the same thing so just do the full license. That being said, i just failed my CBT on a manual bike lol
Hi there bit confused here…
I’m doing my CBT on the 18th, feel pretty confident about the riding side of things as I’ve ridden push bikes for years but could you tell me what actually defines “you must have basic knowledge of the high way code”.
Cheers
You need to memorise the Highwaycode, all versions since 1970, word for word, letter for letter, dot for dot.
@@maalikserebryakov your joking right ? 😂
@@user17923 it was ridiculously easy, just super basics like simple traffic signs, it’s just common sense, we spent about 20 mins of theory, you don’t get asked individually it’s like a full group discussion. Good luck!
Does anyone know how many people will be there doing it with you?
Greetings brother, what was all I need to know before I start my CBT. Have a great day and stay bless one love
Hey, Ivan. You don't really need to know anything as it's a course for complete beginners. You can always do a little studying before the day if you wish. You may also need your own rising gear due to Covid but you would need to check with your local riding schools. 🤜🤛
CBT tomorrow 😬
how’d it go? i have mine on the 27th and i’m so nervous that i’m gonna fail
How long is eavh section?
Do you need any previous riding experience before taking a cbt? Or is it literally book it and turn up
No you don't need any experience mate. Just book it and turn up. Everything should be provided for you on the day as well. 🤜🤛
@@MotoEcosse cheers just booked my cbt for next month
@@mossmith2622 That's awesome man. Have fun. 🤜🤛
I passed my cbt 10 years ago also passed car test in 1989. Do I need to complete cbt again legally ?
Practically I know its a good idea. Can you clarify?
Hey mate, if you want to ride anything above a 50cc moped then you'll have to complete a CBT again. 🤜🤛
Hi Moto, just a quick question. I’m 21 years old and want to start riding. Can I do my CBT, ride a 125 for a year or so and then go straight for an A2 license?
Hey, Luie. Because you're 21 you can complete your CBT then go straight into training for your A2. 🤜🤛
@@MotoEcosseYEEEEEEEEEE BOO
Can i drive my own bike home if i pass and get it insured qnd mot ?
Yes absolutely.
Do you have to do a cbt again after you pass
The UK scammers make undo it every few years
@@maalikserebryakov which to be fair isnt much of a scam anyway. they give you plenty of time to get a bike and get used to riding, getting onto a proper licence isnt difficult at all
Now I’m scared 😳
my mate passed his cbt im a hour ??
I’m doing my CBT tomorrow but my helmet has a tinted visor is that an issue?
Shouldn't be during the day. Once the light starts to go down it's definitely not something I'd recommend. 🤜🤛
