I hope Jonathan is feeling better!
Me too, and what happened to him?

Thanks Travis for keeping this amazing channel up.. sending love to Jon..
The last bit of the video when you connect it to CRT 17 made me smile so hard :) I don't know what I was expecting but surely for it to work made it feel like a full circle to the early days!! Great work my man! Hope Jon gets well soon
iPhone15 is out and we miss Jonathan. But I'll watch this guy if Jonathan vouches for him!
I almost prefer this guy. Wish he would get some more license on the channel.
Jonathan seems to have fallen out of love with tech and drifted towards music.
Which is awesome for him following his dreams but sad for me cause he made the cleanest reviews.
Rubber doesn’t act as a heat sink. It’s an insulator. It actually prevents heat from leaving the device inside at the rate it would without the rubber.
Some of the devices that didn’t work because the iPhone doesn’t provide enough power should work with a small dock with a larger battery plugged into the other USB C charge port. At least, it does with the devices I’ve tried it with.
thats facts
Way to hold it down, great video.
Okay .... USB C has been a long time coming haha ! Crazy to see how much this thing can do
it's crazy how a lot of people, including myself, have been wanting USB C on iPhone for the longest. I recently switched back to android because I missed all these features. I'm glad iPhone finally got it. now more of us get to share the same charger. USB C is so convenient!
Great job, Travis! I hope and prayJonathan to get better 🙏
Great Job Travis!! Loved this video and the end with the CRT mirroring men ! Keep it up!
i support Jonathan ‘ Feel better bro 😎
Great video! Love the variety of devices! Prayers to Jonathan, but great job Travis!
Okay that apple studio display crt 17 is super unexpected. I like watching these videos of people trying a bunch of different usb c accessories but that display just wins my attention here.
Sending good vibes to Jonathan ❤. Feel better soon man, when I watch your video reviews in the past, it’s part entertaining, informative and also just overall very chill and fair. Hope you bounce back soon. Take care man.

The amount of times I'd want my Ally to charge my iPhone will be never lol
Love how even though Jon wasn't here it still has the usual vibe!
This is the kind of test I was waiting for.
The Backbone works! Nice! Thanks for testing all these devices btw, takes all the guessing out of it when we go to buy the products.
When he pulled that massive keyboard out, I groaned audibly and took a break to figure out what is wrong with these people.
Who the actual fuck buys something like that to use as an adaption to a fucking iPhone of all things??? Gen-Z Hipster Type C's... that's who.
Very nice and polished video! Thanks. I am definitely going to reference this when I eventually buy a USBC iPhone. 👍🏻
Excellent taste in music my man! First Disturbed then Polyphia! “Playing God” by Polyphia is an absolute masterpiece.
Great job 👏🏽
Great video! This is what i actually wanted to see! So many USB-C devices that do actually work! I hope Jonathan is feeling a bit better. Wish him the best for me! And thanks for keeping this great channel up. Love the high quality video's you guy's make!
This unlocks a lot of potential. It's crazy. I can't wait to see the weird setups people come up with.
Much love for this channel, the team and of course Jonathan!!!
Sending love!!!
we still cant do direct impoirt or export videos or photos from the pc to the iphone without itunes?
Great possibilities that the iPhone now offers. Is it also possible to connect an SSD for video recording and an external microphone in parallel? Does that have to be done via a USB switch?
I never thought about that
7:57 my USB-C backbone needed a firmware update to be able to work on iPhone 15 pro Max. The only way to update it seems is to first connect the backbone to an Android phone with the backbone app installed and wait for it to refresh the firmware.
The backbone website says you can exchange it if no access to Android device.
Nah this is a great video can't lie! Now I realize I should be able to transfer photos from my camera to my phone quickly!
super convenient. when I had iPhone, I had to rely on the SD card reader and I hated pulling it out, plugging it in to the reader, plugging that into the phone, then taking out the card and reinserting the card into my camera. when I switched to android, I loved just pulling out the cable and transferring photos straight to my phone without having to remove the SD card. 😎
Thanks for this clip. Purchased the Apple iPhone 15 Pro 1TB Blue Titanium for $ 1,499.00. Thing is I am a normal, and feel that I will have this device for at least five years. So that is sixty months at $ 24.99 a month over the life of the iPhone. Use to work for Photo & Sound Company, and the audio visual equipment we use to rent around this value cost far more than $ 24.99 a day to rent.
This is replacing my Apple iPhone 11 Pro that is now three years old witch is now moving to a backup role. Was not going to purchase another iPhone until Apple replaced the lame USB-2 data rate lightning port introduced back on September 12, 2012 with the IEC 62680 USB-C style port. Well received a somewhat lame USB-C 3.1 (GEN 2) 10 Gbit/s data transfer rate port with the Apple iPhone 15 Pro lineup. Can record family memories using the new Spatial Video feature is the reason I pulled the trigger on the purchase of my new Apple iPhone 15 Pro.
Now the video rig I put together from past purchases, and new one for use with USB C 3.1 (GEN 2) standard. Start with NEEWER Smartphone Video Rig, Phone Video Stabilizer Grip Vlogging Cage with Cold Shoe Tripod Mount that I have used with my previous Apple iPhone 11 Pro. Then added 10Gbps USB C Hub, 5 Ports USB C Splitter used with AC charger use in my home office. For portable use 100W Power Delivery along with Charmast USB C Power Bank, 26800mAh Portable Charger USB C.
Purchased a Crucial P3 2TB PCIe Gen 3 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD, up to 3500MB/s - CT2000P3SSD8 and the SSK Aluminum M.2 NVME SATA SSD Enclosure Adapter, USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) to put it into. Plan to record Apple ProRes directly to the drive. Hope that soon with be able to record Spatial Video directly to this device.
Going to test microphone setups. First the Apple iPhone 15 Pro internal stereo audio microphone. External via Type C Movo VXR10 Universal Video Microphone with Shock Mount, Deadcat Windscreen. Then Wireless Lavalier Microphone for Type-C Phone, Plug-Play Wireless Mic with 2 Microphones. Feel that this will give me the most options to start with.
I have ever since destroying a past iPhone by dropping it, as soon as a new one comes out of the box it goes into a case, and I put on a glass screen protector. Have had the glass screen protector crack after I dropped it. Then replaced it the very same day. So even with the Apple iPhone 15 Pro 1TB Blue Titanium enclosure the only thing that might get finger prints on it over its lifetime is the case.
Plan is I will have this Apple iPhone 15 Pro 1TB Blue Titanium like most normals for around five years before I replace it.
Fun experimentation. Good to see content from yall!
Great Job Travis!!
Rubber as a heat sink?😅
Hi thanks for sharing this video, it is helpful. I recently bought iPhone 15 Pro that has USB-C connector. I wanted to connect Zoom PodTrak P4 via usb-c cable to iPhone 15 Pro usb-c and use the Zoom P4 to talk and listen to phone calls with headphones and xlr mic connected to Zoom P4. Do you know if this is possible?
first time viewer ...now subscriber. was confused on channel name vs Travis showing the stuff. :). Read other comments and saw Jonathan is offline - Feel Better. Enjoyed the testing stuff answer a lot of my question for the USB C on my phone. Thank you.
Yo great job. Love the vid
USB type c to aux - yes there's audio when listening to music or videos on the iphone 15 - even the volume buttons works....but the microphone does not work. So you can't use it when making phone calls.
this type of video is so holiday 2017 this is dope, good job Travis 👏👏👏
I never really cared about the iPhone switching to USB-C. This video just changed my mind!
Xbox one controller works thru usb c cable to my m1 iPad Air. Wonder if it’s a limitation of the iPhone or if it’s user error.
I know this is not the correct channel to ask, but test everything shown in video with Android phone simultaneously.
i hope someone can answer me.
i have an ordinary otg usb c flash drive. the iphone 15 pro max does not recognize it.
does the phone need a specific type of flash frive?
Have you tried dumping footage from a card reader to hard drive? Curious if I can dump footage remotely without a laptop.
Great video thank you :)
This is the game changer, that got me to upgrade from my 12 Pro Max.
I use my iPhone 12 for vlogging, and the process for transferring video files to my PC has been migraine inducing, to say the least.
To be able to just plug an external drive into an iPhone, and have it not only show the folders on the drive, but to be able to transfer files back and forth, is what the iPhone should've been all along...
Cool features. Only shame is apple withheld them for better part of a decade for the sole purpose of additional revenue generation.
Hi you can use USB dock which supply power if the device you want to use needs more power
U didn't try a batter pack I have seen that some battery packs the iphone charges the battery pack instead of the battery pack charging the phone
I stop at Rubber/silicon is a heat sync, WTF! Rubber/silicon is an insulator.
surely he can't be walking around southern california after 16:25. We are out here talking about tech, leave the ese's alone! haha
Hey are they any USB-C adapters for cars that require a USB cable to connect to Apple Car Play?
Can the iphone use the nintendo switch dock to screen mirroring to the tv ?
That old CRT to Iphone 15, that VGA to usb-c is another level
Amazing how quickly Apple users embrace the convenience of USB-C connection when they see the utility it brings. Before they were like
"NO, don't change the port, we want to be different!!"
It recognizes bootable drive , does that mean you can install macOs on iphone?
I closed my eyes and I hear Jonathan. The inflection, word stress, enunciation, etc sounds like him.
Take that Lightning Port!!!, goodbye and RIP 😂😂😂
Backbone xBox version does not work. Only PS4 version
Re: adaptor to TV; Does it work with Disney+ or Netflix? :)
Exit the game. Connect the xbox controller. Relaunch the game
That CRT 😮😮😮😮
Apple needs to make like Samsung DeX ... would be cool.
I will say the ethernet option is awesome for games like call of duty mobile
I hope jonathan is feeling better!
Praying for him ❤🙏❤️
Interesting 🧐
Great video. Super useful information.
Hold up buddy, not eve a minut in and let me tell you, ruber ain't no heat sink.
Thanks to EU for forcing them to switch to usbc 😅
i hope jonathan is ok. get well soon for him. we missing him here. i am a silent supporter here.
Try the monitor and keyboard and mouse at the same time through a hub
Could you use the iPhone as a display for the ps5 via hdmi ?
I would have 2 more questions concerning USB-C and/or bluetooth connectivity though and maybe you could help me to solve that out..
1) first, the interest I could see in it is the fact that (as I already do with my iPads) I can plug in a USB C / USB A adapter which itself hosts the sound card that lets me dictate with the microphone specially designed for voice recognition, attached to the pipette on my respirator. I have muscular dystrophy and typing on my iPhone - even the Mini - is proving increasingly complicated. I'd like to be able to dictate more easily on this device, as I do with the other devices in my Apple ecosystem. Will the port make this possible in your opinion? For the same reason, and since voice recognition is resource-hungry, I'm thinking that the new chip could perhaps be an additional asset in terms of recognition reliability.
2) however, and this will be my last question, even with iOS 17, I still can't get my trackpad to work as an iPhone control interface, even though the menus seem to allow it (just as it's possible on iPads). Do you have any idea why this might be? You showed on your video that it was possible to use an external bluetooth mouse to control the iPhone. Did you have the chance to test it with a Magic Trackpad too?
As a matter of fact, without being able to control it, there's little point in being able to dictate more easily on my phone...
If you put the battery pack on the back of the MixPre-3 and connect it via USB-C it will work as audio input to the Blackmagic app for recording sound on your iPhone 15 Pro Max. You have to select the audio input in the Blackmagic app. Imagine a boom mic connected to your MixPre-3 that is connected to your iPhone. Now you have a professional sound input to your iPhone. WOW!
i bet people now prefer usb c lmao yeah papa apple was holding u guys back XD crazy to think the first android to have usb c fast fwd 2023 lmao
I don't think rubber can really act as a heat sink :))
Great video! I’m curious, does the phone simultaneously work for charging, display mirroring and Ethernet with the right dock? I’m trying with a Targus dock at the moment and I’m able to get an Ethernet connection, charge, connect flash drives, and audio out but no display mirroring.
Thank god that he didnt put type c port in humans. 😅
anyone who addresses charge as juice, annoys me.
just curious to see if you can connect some of the power hungry devices that weren't working using the usb hub and another power source plugged in to the PD (power delivery) port
"what's a computer" 🤣🤣🤣😂😂
Y'all ever did this for Samsung users?? 😅
So much variety just with a port change. This shall open up newer avenues for iphone users. You've tested so many devices.
Thanks for taking the time to show the world a possibility with usb-c connectors to iphone.
This works too, without latency, in the event you wanted to play without a computer. Arturia KeyLab 88 MkII 88-key Weighted Keyboard Controller.
🤗🤗
Loved the video thanks mate. For the usbc flash drive, is it able to record ProRes directly to it? Or i need the SSD like Samsung? Thank you for your time
finally iphone is a computer ❤
Hi. Does anyone know which belkin multiport hub was tested? It looks like they sell a few that look similar and of course it doesn’t list compatibility for the iPhones. Thanks.
Any concerns with the backbone related to the USB-C? There is a small tilt because of the camesas.
I like the direction iPhones are going
Please try plugging in a webcam or hdmi capture card. The iPad supports them.
Hey Mate, do you think it would set up with a keyboard, mouse, and display and be usable for basic tasks like getting through emails and using the files app?
Awesome! Just in time to get some accessories for my iphone 15 pro max. Will definitely keep supporting this channel, no matter whom is presenting. Hope Jonathan feels better too!
That Studio Display holds up incredibly well, even through a camera and RUclips. Damn.
How does rubber act as a heatsink? Since rubber is an insulator won’t that actively work _against_ heat dissipation?
man's voice is kinda like Jonathan
Super useful, thanks! One thing I've found and enjoy is using an HDMI capture device like the ElGato CamLink 4k (I have a generic one) and using my phone as a video monitor for my Fuji X-T3. I bet some new apps will come out that REALLY make it look great and maybe even record. All of my Rode USB-C devices that used to require a "special" Lightning cable now just work with the USB-C port like Android. Super convenient.
Question: whats better the belkin dock pr the apple hdmi adapter? When it comes to connecting to monitors and input lag???
Has anyone tried a full phone backup via usbc to an external ssd instead of using iCloud ?
