I disagree about Thunderbolt cables. Yes they are more expensive (tip, buy budget TB cables) but their spec is their spec and you know what you’re getting. Many USB-C cables are sold with misleading information of what they’re capable of, and many hide details about their specs on their product pages
Honestly, what application does Thunderbolt have for a phone? Who needs to connect their iPhone to a $5,000 external display with maximum resolution? Who needs data transfer for an entire Terabyte to take less than 13 minutes? Thunderbolt on iPhone would just make it too expensive for no good reason. It's just a shame the base model 15s are stuck with USB 2.0 specs.
With the USB-C hubs, ensure they have a power passthrough. Not all of them do, and then the hub and peripherals will just drain your phone battery like crazy.
I know this sounds silly because it’s available of course, but I can’t wait to get an iPhone with USB-C but it’s gonna be a few more years because I got the iPhone 14 pro on launch day, and the purple is my all time favorite, can’t part with it!
I need help.🙏 I’ve had an iPhone 15 Plus for a week now & the only thing that’s worked to charge it is a foot-long cable that came with my cheap earbuds, plugged into a power bar. I bought an adapter from usb c to usb a so I could plug in the apple cable into the power bar, but it doesn’t charge. I bought a cheap 10’ usb c to usb a cable to plug in the power bar, that doesn’t charge. So I’m stuck with just a 1 foot cable. Not ideal. I didn’t know that I needed to be careful about the specs of the cable that I bought. What do I need to look for? I need a 10’ cable just for charging. Then, do I also need certain specs on the adapter too? I need one to plug into my car for music & charging. I know I’m a little behind on my tech knowledge but I’m a quick learner!😁 Any help you could give, seriously, would be really appreciated. I’m looking all over the place for the info and I can’t find anything referencing required specs. I’m only seeing 20W if I want extra fast charging. 🤷🏻♀️
USB C is tempting, but my 13 mini still works fine, plus i also have an iPad 9 with lightning, so i’ll wait until i have to upgrade both my iPhone and iPad.
I'm upgrading from the regular 11 to the 15 Pro if they think its good, its a $200 credit most likely to my Apple card since I put that as the payment method. I'm buying it outright and unlocked since I'm on prepaid. Both my 11 and the 15 Pro are 128 GB. I have a USB male to female adaptor and 2 thumbdrives both in 32GB and a bunch of SD cards and at least 1 adaptor. I have at least 2 SD cards in 64 GB. As far as ICloud, right now I have it in 50GB and of course, an adaptor to read hard drives to get my IPhone pictures and videos off my IPhone and shockingly, I still use Itunes ot backup my phone.
While I am somewhat excited for usb-c on the iPhone, I don't feel like the 15 is a big enough leap forward to make me upgrade from my 12 pro max. Maybe if they release make it thunderbolt or some other feature to help seal the deal.
Hi there. Wondering if you have tested using a direct cable transfer from an iPhone 14 pro (basically lightning port models) to the new usb c iPhone 15 model ? Presently, there’s a usbc cam 3 adapter but not sure how it’s going to work for the new usb c interface. Use a lightning to usb c dongle converter ?
Or can we use a usb c to lightning cable (given by Apple) for the direct phone to phone transfer between an iPhone 14 (or earlier model) to new iPhone 15 and 15 pro? This is on the back of poor wifi and not having to painfully wait for iCloud download as there’s quite a fair bit of data to be transferred (270gb) from the older iphome.
They most of these features on their iPads for a few years now. It's been a week, but it's still weird plugging in an iPhone to a usb-c charger or monitor 😅

I was looking for the most ridiculous thing I could find to try. Well digging through my old stuff I found a USB-B Zip drive, yes the 100mb Zip drive, guess what IT WORKS! HA love it!
Apple didn´t took the opportunity to switch to USB-C, they were forced to. Otherwise they would have left Lightning for a free more years. Thank you EU :D
I'm happy that iPhone finally made it to USB-C family, but the reason I am a bit sad is because I don't like sharing my charging cable, so if anyone ask me if I had a charger for an Android user, I was always happy to say "Sorry bruh.. iPhone here" 😂
My problem is I have a separate cable for each device since they are in different rooms like my AirPods are in my kitchen, different locations for phone chargers, etc. so I still have to buy all new cables
Great video! I never knew you could connect an SSD directly to the iPhone to save or offload photos to it. Ive been connecting it to my Macbook to do so. Absolute time saver.
Totally disagree with your recommendation of staying away from thunderbolt 3/4 cables. Thunderbolt 4 designation is the easiest way to know you are getting every feature in the cable you need to maximize your investment in the interface. It automatically support usb4 and everything below it, and will hel😊 you get the most out of your Mac. The Only down side is the cost. I get thunderbolt 4 for data cables and much cheaper usbc cables for charging where high speed charging is not required.
So I’m still on IPhone 8. I would rather get 14 pro refurbished to save money and I really just want the better camera. If I went with 15 pro sounds like I can still use my older external mics but have to get the USB C adapter? Is that right? Also in other videos I saw a lot of comments people saying the volume of headphones was low? Is that true? I’m just researching until I have to get a new phone.
I don’t get the argument about buying new cables. The whole reason of the move is to standardize it and I don’t expect there are many people out there that don’t already have multiple usb c cables because of other devices. I’m glad it happened because I now only need one type of charging cable when I travel.
Half my usb c cables wouldn't stay in the iphone 15 pro max i bought and car play would keep disconnecting constantly. I returned mine because i didnt feel like even trying. The port was either loose or they want the apple cable being used.
The Gamesir X2 does not seem to work with the iphone 15 pro, do you know why that is? Is the controller like hard encoded to just android devices or something? Any response is appreciated
I'm sure Apple doesn't like a little bit that USB-C dongles and accessories work on their products, it's like heresy to them. Thanks EU for not letting your guard down on that legislation. Luckily, I transitioned to magsafe early, so the only Lightning cables I have are 2 in my car.
