- Part 2 of the 2023 Picos de Europa Motorcycle Tour with ChickenStrips. The Picos de Europa are probably my favourite place in the world to ride a motorcycle, the roads are stunning, the scenery is breathtaking, there's hardly any traffic (most of the time) and the people are amazing.

Picos roads, food, sidra, scenery and a good bike. The dream. Iv been there many times and always want to go again.

It’s probably been mentioned elsewhere and I’ve missed it but the N-621 between Panes & Potes has around seven or eight long sections of roadworks ( improving the road) and it can take an hour longer to cover the seventeen miles !

Unfortunately it’s true, they are widening the gorge section of road. I went through on a weekday afternoon whilst they were working and it took an extra hour. Going north on Saturday morning it was maybe 40 minutes, they weren’t working but had guys managing traffic flow..
As you know it’s not an easy road to avoid if going to Potes………have a great trip whatever 👍
Id love to be able to ride fast enough for one of these trips. Looks like good fun

Amazing to watch. Bit pissed off there is somewhere as beautiful as Scotland but has good weather!! I'd love to go on one of your tours but I'm a curmudgeonly misanthrope so I ride alone. It's my act of redemption. 😇 Thanks for posting. Keep up the good work and hope to see you out on the road one day, I'll buy you a coffee and pastry. But I'll probably just mumble and leave.😉

Good to see you a little west of the picos AS14 and oviedo etc my back garden you must of past my house, recognise all the roads enjoyed watching as i mostly ride alone

Nice one Bruce, i've got a few days there either end of a two week trip in Sept. We're taking 5 days to get to Porto & then 5 days back to Santander, just got to make sure my Mrs stays awake on the back long enough to see the views 😂😂
We are off next year but going over to Portugal aswell 😁 can’t wait.
Last year was my first time in the Pyrenees and it was amazing! The best riding I had ever done.

Thx Bruce for this great vid again 👍 I often ride with my wife, and I ride exactly the same as when riding alone - I mean « regular » driving : hooligan playtime is played alone, but 🤫 😂 Going back there this summer, to make sure the roads are still as gorgeous as last year 😛

Need to try La Gomera in the Canaries. Just come back from a 3 month tour. Incredible roads. Very few tourists and felt like we had the roads to ourselves for 2 days. Great series of vids Bruce.

Looks awesome. How far apart were fuel stops and general breaks?
All depends on what bikes are on each tour, we tailor the fuel stops to the lowest fuel range, so if there’s an Mt10 or Tuono on the tour, then we’ll have a fuel stop every 80-100 miles.
We usually stop roughly every hour to hour and a half anyway
@@teapotone that's good to hear.I run a Firestorm. They aren't known for economy. Those stops sound good. Oh no I want to ride in the picos now!

My GSA 1250 has 5th and 6th gears, Bruce.....just sayin' ........;-) Great series - lovely roads and scenery. But best of all is the banter and jokes!! Must have been great fun in the evening time over a few pints.
Cheers. 5/6th gears are for when you’re either flat out, or trundling along - neither of which I want to show on camera 😉
I personally only use 5&6 for motorways and dual carriageways. For these types of roads you will have more control of your machine in 3&4. Don’t be afraid of working at the higher limits of your bikes rev range. They are designed for it.

September is a beautiful time to go, will still be fairly warm - high teens to twenty’s usually, and it shouldn’t be too bad for rain (can never say never as it’s a mountainous region).
But Sep would be one of my preferred times to go bud 👍

Just simple rider error bud - it’s very easy on Spanish roads to get sucked in. They make you ride faster and faster at times and you get over confident, but they have a habit of tightening up unexpectedly on you if you don’t read them all the way around the bend.
He put an overtake on at the approach to a bend that perhaps wasn’t really on, and then when the bend tightened up he didn’t think he’d make it, hit the brakes, stood the bike up, and hit the barrier.
Easily done tbh

Hi Bruce, thanks for another great video. I saw that you wear a Helite Turtle 2 air bag vest. Just wondered what your thoughts are on it and did you go for tethered or electronic? They're a lot of dosh (especially the electronic with the fork sensor) so I'd value your opinion. Cheers.
They’re a great bit of kit that could save your life and WILL help to lessen an injury if you come off - so all good for me.
Mine is the electronic one as I ride a variety of bikes at times and wanted to be able to wear it on any bike.
Only negatives for me after around 3 years of owning it are that it’s quiet hot in warm weather as it restricted airflow through your jacket, and it’s another layer so you do look even bigger once it’s over your bike jacket etc - but I’m a fat knacker so I can’t blame it on the vest! 🤦♂️🤣
Only issue I’ve had is that it detonated once when I was on the eurotunnel and picked it up off the bike to put on, just as we were coming to a stop - it actually does say in the destructions to switch it off on the tunnel…. But who reads instructions? 🤷♂️🤦♂️
I’d certainly say there’s no negatives to the Helite e-turtle vest if you can afford one, an amazing piece of safety kit

Why does everyone ride straight past the Bear Point going to or from the Deer Point? Wish I could send pics on here….
Because the bear is off the main road, and people are enjoying the ride so stay on that main road until they see the deer
@@teapotone Oh mate, we just pulled off the road and blasted up the track to the car park, then trekked up to the bear. The views are incredible from up there… It’s a must do!

Although the Picos are superb, there’s better roads to the East, away from camper vans and cow pats. Try looking at what I call the Golden Triangle, between Jaca, Ainsa, Berga.
Aye I’ve done the Pyrenees many times, heading back again in June actually, but I prefer the Picos and West personally.
Pyrenees is great, but Picos beats it for me
