  • The Service Manual of the Technics SL-1500C I have downloaded from VinylEngine. Now I was able to set up the position, where the Auto lift-up function sets in. There are two positions to choose.

    Thank you! You explained this very well. I just bought an SL-1500C today, and the first record I played ("The Divine Miss M" by Bette Midler), it lifted up before the last song was done. A Google search for "technics sl-1500c arm lifts too soon" led me here and now I've made the adjustment and it worked!

    Thanks for posting. I had to try 4x before getting it right. I didn’t bother trying to set it because it only happens on a few longer playing LPs, but this is great. Auto lift takes another 15 seconds or so to kick in. It’s a great feature and a great turntable. Thanks for taking the time.

    It really works!!! But, on the other hand, we should be conscious that when listening to normal LP or EP, the time when the tonearm will be lifted up is about 35 seconds longer on position 1 than on position 2.

    This was a lifesaver. However, I would recommend downloading the service manual to make sure you get the last step just right. There was some confusion (at least in my feeble brain) on which buttons to push on that final requirement. But indeed it does work, and now all my LPs (and 45s) play out. Thank you for the video!!

    Dear CHafecito, you made my evening! Faced this early lift problem with a 45 rpm record and it was so annoying but thanks to your clear instructions I was able to ajust it to pos 1. I found some guides in the web but you showed it pretty clear. Thanks a lot for this! But you know that it takes about 70 seconds on pos 1 to trigger autolift on, unfortunately. I think 70 seconds are too much... So I returned to pos 2 actually since it takes only 17-18 sec to enable autolift. Decided to use autolift switch on/off at the back of the tt if I want to play 45 rpm records recorded almost to the apple ring.

    Thank you for your video. Made adjustments for my SL-100C and it works like a charm. The manual is a bit weird and misleading as it clearly switched the positions with each other (the faster intervals should indicate that the tonearm lifts up later and not earlier).
    Also the detection point isn’t at 51,5mm as indicated by the photo in the manual but actually, as it should be, around 56,5/57mm. Your video also confirms this. Thanks!!

    Thank you so much. What I find odd is that Technics provide 2x positions. You would imagine that only one position is required and that is when the stylus has reached the final run-out groove right next to the central label. I can't see any reason to lift the tone-arm any sooner before the run out...

I find it absolutely amazing that Technics could not design a lift system that works PERFECTLY!... It only needs an optical sensor at the one correct position. It is the most SIMPLE thing to design an arm lift that works perfectly. I am genuinely amazed that TECHNICS have failed. :(

    Hi Just have question for you about this turntable. How is the power button of this table ?? Just got the same table and the power button is missing presses now and then. The power button on this table does not feel very reliable ?? I can somehow understand it has some delay because it is logic controlled (does not respond to very fast presses) but it feels kinda irrational, all the other buttons work and respond like a charm. Someone else was talking about this same thing in reddit. Does it need a somekind of power down and up cycle ???

    Don't know where is the issue but after one month of use I cannot use my technics sl-1500c anymore. After finishing one record I move the tonarm to the base, lower the lever as usual till the end but suddenly tonarm returned back to the up position and since then I cannot lower it. I mean I can lower it by pushing the lever down but when I take off my finger the tonarm returns to the up position.

  • @kevinatkab5219
    @kevinatkab5219 10 месяцев назад

    I think the manual is misleading. There is only one sensor inside. What this adjustment does is change the length of time the arm waits - after triggering the sensor - before lifting. If you go back and play the first record you will see it takes even longer for it to lift now. Not sure why the manual implies two different trigger points.

  • @weberaudio
    @weberaudio Год назад

    since you are very familiar with the SL-1500C, can I ask you a question regarding one I just purchased?
    Upon balancing the arm (with the anti-skate set to “0”) I noticed that while the arm is floating (balancing level with weight set at “0”) the arm wants to move toward its resting post if it is about an inch in from the edge of the platter. If the arm is located in the middle of the platter, or toward the spindle, the arm floats perfectly without any movement. Is this normal for this unit? It is almost like the anti-skate is still interacting even though it is set to “0”.
    The reason I ask is because none of my other Technics turntables do this. With my other units, the arm will float perfectly in any position, until the anti-skate is applied.
    Thank You for any insight you can provide.

    I don't preconise to use auto lift. I think that this function destroy the lift mecanism. Big risk after for the arm to down (when its up,manually), risk too of blockes up.

      Thanks for your comment.
      I like the auto lift-up function. It works properly at the moment for me. Let's see if I will change my mind.

      As well as having a 1500c I have a 1400 auto return that is still working properly (made in 1976 I think) so I don't think you should worry about reliability.

    So many people leaving negative marks for the deck in reviews, when it could have been adjusted the whole time.

    Technics forgot how to make a semi automatic turntable. I bought one. but I hated the auto lift and the cueing arm so much I sent it back to Amazon. They graciously refunded me.

    Do not understand why the "buyer' of this player has to set up the auto return of the record after playing?? I had all kinds of record players growing up as a kid, they were cheap ones as well, probably cost 5 -12 dollars back in the 50's....and every one had an automatic tone arm that returned smoothly to its resting place after playing the record, no need to wait. I also had a Juke Box from 1950, and every 45 played the tonearm returned to its place. This is NOT rocket science but for some reason nowadays they act as if you are asking for the moon to require the company to have this function in place!???
