Hapoy Fourth of July 2004...I ran over my black round fob remote. Trying to make it work and change the cr2032 battery. 2009 HD also use a 5-digits code?
Not all Harleys use this exact PIN method. The PIN method for your bike is explained in the owner’s manual. I advise you study this and practice doing it several times before you really need it. Once you get the hang of it you’ll breathe easier. As always, guard your key fob with your life and check the batteries in all your keys and fob regularly. Keep brand new batteries for these devices with the bike. Keep the owner’s manual with the bike in case you forget the PIN method. Keep a headband flashlight with the bike so you can read the manual and do the PIN method at night hands-free. Check the batteries in the flashlight regularly also, and keep brand new batteries for the flashlight with the bike.
What to do if you lost your H-D fob is a pretty common video subject here on RUclips. What to do if you lost your fob and you don't have the PIN code to enter with the turn signal method shown above is a bit more problematic. There doesn't seem to be any video that helps you solve that problem (at least that I've found). I had that very problem on my '07 Electra Glide Classic and got it resolved today, 6/23/21. The service manager at my local H-D dealership told me I needed to replace the turn signal security module for several hundred dollars (I believe he said $700) and of course I would need new fobs at $50 apiece, and then labor. Seemed rather exorbitant. I passed on their service. I found a local independent H-D shop who has a diagnostic machine that can read the PIN code inside the module. They got the bike running using the old PIN code they got from their diagnostic machine, got me two new H-D fobs (from the same dealership I mentioned above), synced the fobs to my bike, reset the PIN code and put the number on my receipt so I could change it later, and did it for under $220 including the two fobs. The H-D dealership service manager said H-D corporate limits their repair methods, and they (the dealership) would not be authorized to do the same thing the independent shop did. Then he made some comment about equipment like the independent shop had and making it easy to steal motorcycles. I chalked it up to sour grapes. Thanks to Horney's Custom Cycles in Fort Myers, FL for coming to my rescue and saving me hundreds of dollars.
If you don’t have your pin, a good next step is call dealer that the bike was sold at… some keep that on record. Also there is a place in the manual to enter that pin so an owner may have put that there.
I lost the fob and the key, Harley Subster 2012, and I brought an iron key only from the company in the United States of America, but I could not turn on the bike. Do you have a way to bypass the security system and turn it on?
My 2010 Road Glide doesn't require a key is this normal? My Bike will start with/without my key fob being nearby... Why is this the case? Is it a fuse?
I call the dealer and they said is not such thing to plug-in into a computer to get to retrieve pin code...either have to have the fog present in order to reset a new pin code or buy a new system if current fog is lost or damaged and not pin code either...
So if I don't know the pin the dealership can plug into the bike and tell me the pin? So, I may need a key to unlock the bike and can the dealership, with my vin and proof of ownership give me a new key? With a new key, the details for the lost pass code and a new FOB things can be sweet again. Can it be this simple? I love how when I call my local dealer I am told that without the FOB, without the Key, without the FOB bypass combination, I have to purchase a new security system. Wow.
Correct me if I'm wrong, please, I want to understand. You can unlock your Harley Davidson and ride without using the key as long as you have the FOB on your possession? Still with the bike unlocked and not using a key, if you loose your FOB (don't have it on you) you can enter in the combination to bypass the FOB and you can start your bike? What if you loose your key? What if you don't have a FOB? What if you don't know the pass combination? I want to purchase a second-hand Harley Davidson from an Insurance company but they don't have the key, FOB or pass information. What do or can I do to have a key, FOB and new pass? Can a key be cut with information obtain from the Harley Davidson Dealer local to my area? You say that I can bring the bike to the dealer and they can tell me what the FOB pass is? Then with the pass I can code a new FOB?
And it turn out to be the Factory Default... what he should have emphasized is that we all should remember to CHANGE the factory pin to a Personal pin.
@@DragonM109R What's weird is my 2019 FLHRXS doesn't work with the factory default. I didn't even realize they had a pin unlock until I saw another video like this. Given I've had it less than 24 hours.
@@krizzo Unfortunately anyone that knows how to change the code can go into a dealership and change the code to any bike on the floor.. not saying that this is what happened but its a possibility.. Im sure there has to be a way that the dealer can "reset" the code... check with them..
@@DragonM109R yeah I called the dealer they have their own code set. I was able to set it to what I want and in the process it displays the currently set code. The process slightly changed or it was user error on my part most likely when trying to reset it the first time.
@@krizzo Cool.. as long as you got it squared away.. there are so many people that don't even know their bikes can be started without their "keys" .. Ride safe...
My digital speedometer shows 0.0 despite repeating the: ignition on off on off on then pressing L signal 3 times followed by the R signal once. My beautiful bikes just sits there silently, and flashes. It has stood in my garage on a trickle charge for 1 1/2 years now-very depressing.
I just did this successfully, and learned that the ignition on-off-on-off-on sequence has to be very quick. I was doing it too slowly and couldn’t get it to work. Also, the bike has to be on the kickstand, the handlebars have to be centered, you can’t be on the bike, and don’t move or jiggle the bike during the process. Try it this way and see if it works.

Does it matter what size battery you put in that security fob I got a 2009 Dyna Wide Glide and I put two new invented that seem like it's working

Great feedback on entering pin. Thank you
No some models/years require you to hold down both turn Signal simultaneously after you turn on the ignition
I have lost my old key fob today on freeway so i was thinking
Is there anyway i can program my new key fob

So I don’t need to know the pin to my bike, I can just go to the dealer to get it? I own my bike, and recently loss my fob. I never knew the pin.
What about if you lose your CVO fob and the neck is locked?
awesome jumper

Yes. Yes. Get a new key. Use the passkey. Contact Harley. Contact Harley. Yes. Yes. Yes.
You DO NOT need to go to dealership if you need to find out your pin!!!
You don't have to show the numbers, you can count the clicks.

Pin system not working either
Thank you!! Help me out today!!
2017 RG special, battery died and now it’s asking me for a pin and I have no clue , I have the fob and key
The owner’s manual explains how to display the PIN in the odometer. Be sure to cycle the ignition switch on and off QUICKLY.
How many numbers are in the pin.
5.

How can I reprogram a used bike I bought?
Sure can! I have just done it on my 2018 FLDE. Info in owners manual, or you tube!
