I replace my key fob batteries once a year. The batteries aren't expensive, it's worth the peace of mind to me.

Very informative video! Does the bike have to be started and shut off to be put in transport mode or simply put in Run mode and switched off before pressing both turn signal switches? Thanks again for an easily understood video.

Good info. It's pretty annoying to keep seeing your lights flash when you're pulling your bike on a trailer. And putting the keyfob on the bike it could fall off or something, safest to keep them with you in the truck.
I think this system is slowly draining the battery on my 07 Softail Custom. Do you do a video on how to remove it completely and reinstall factory turn signal module?

You may want to mention you can put it in transport mode without starting it. Just turn run switch to on, then when turning it back off hit both signals immediately after and wait for the flashers to flash. Then it’s on.

Read your manual people. It's all in there. And you can reset your PIN yourself. You don't have to go to the dealer.

Great video,just adding if you dont know your code you dont have to contact anybody. With handle par switch on off,go to your master switch on gas tank,turn on off 3 times,on 3rd time leave on,then hit left turn signal 3 times,wait until green arrows flash then hit right turn signal once,your 5 digit code flashes

I have never had some one trying to steal my bike or anything of the sort. I have had a couple tourist sit on it and take pictures without permission but that's about it.

Hi thanks for the video. I had an incident in Spain. I parked the bike outside a police station. When i came back the fob would not unlock the bike. Each time i tried the alarm went off and "no fob' . Eventually a helpful police man came over and told me that if i pushed the bike 50m away from the police station my fob would be OK. I did and it worked. Apparently buildings that have a security risk transmit a blocking signal, so IEDs can't be triggered remotely.
Have a 2014 Harley Breakout and the chirp does not chirp when I turn it on or off how do I activate the chirp to turn it back on. Book says the alarm should sound even though the chirp is off but it does not sound when the bike is Disturbed.

Do you know if there is a way to permanently turn off the alarm system? I have an 09 ultra classic and I don’t need the alarm system on it. I was hoping there is a way of permanently disabling it.
I have a 07' Sportster that has an ignition Key and a Fob. How do I check for the Alarm code and start it if it goes into alarm? The other day signals stayed flashing and wouldn't let me start it..Let it sit for quite a while and then finally worked...help !

battery of my 2015 iron 883 is totally dead. as soon as i enter the pin it restarts and ask for the pin again (probably the fob battery is died too)... any suggestions on how i should replace the battery preventing the alarm from being activated? ty
It doesn't take a dealer to reset the PIN. Instructions are in the manual. Learn your PIN and use it to start your bike once in a while without the FOB.
So I bought a 2016 883 super low from a insurance auction, I didn't get a fob with it. How can I reset my pin with no fob or knowledge of what the pin is??

Question: How do you get the PIN if you bought a used bike and nobody knows the PIN assigned? #2 When you deactivate the alarm is it a one time thing or do you have to do that every time before starting.?
You can reset your pin at a dealership. Yes, when you put in the pin then shut off the bike you’ll have to enter the pin again to start it up

If you don’t have the key fob you have to write the code every time you want to start the bike? Or just once?
Every time you start the bike. When you turn off the ignition then the security resets.
My 13 ultra keeps going directly to security mode and flashing. After waiting for flashing to stop and on the 3 or 4th try I get into pin mode and on the second or third number of the pin kicks me out to security flashes. WT...... help.

I bought a 2nd sportster 883xlh 2007, i forgot the fob behind, I already make a new document on my name, unfortunately the previous owner has left the country for medical issues. He will coming back in a couple of months. How can I start the bike without fob or pin? Can I neutralizer the msst? (All the security). I cant bring the bike to any dealer, I'll prefer do it by myself as they are very far from me.

Hey, people. Hello, Matt, hello Justine. I wonder if you can help me sort some issue out. I want to buy a used Fat Boy but it apparently it doesn't have a key, nor the FOB and the seller doesn't know what the Pass Code is. It's an insurance sale just so you know. The local Harley Davidson dealer today when I called to make enquiries said that without any of the things I mentioned I'd then need to purchase a new security system. But I just watched a video about the bypass code and the guy said that if I bring the bike into a Harley Davidson dealer that they could connect the bike to the computer and they could then obtain the 5-digit pin for me.
Also, and I hope that is the case, then can I get a new key cut from the VIN information at the Dealers as well? Then I can get a new FOB? Seems a waste to have to need a new security system.
What can I do?

Hi Matt I just bought a legal 110 engine from a parts house so i dont have security fob is there anyway to disable it without buying a different ignition system? I put in a 2006 EG FLHT
The engine has nothing to do with the security system.
If I put into transport mode from loosing key fob can I ride It like that also how do I undo the transport mode ??

What happens if you have a zero in the PIN number?
My bike locks me out randomly and I have to wait an hour. I don't know what's causing it, it's an 06 Night Rod. The fob isn't a proximity, just a button for on off and I never use it. I've tried the fob when the bike locks me out but it doesn't help, I don't think it has anything to do with security. Dash lights act weird, signals and head light won't work and it won't start... Till I wait about an hour and try again.
It tells you how to set the code up in the manual. Save the dealership some time and possibly yourself some money if they try to charge you for the labour time.
Hummm.. my 2001 xl1200c sportster doesn't have a key fob or alarm system & my battery is dead after trailering this bike & my 81 ironhead sportster..
By doing this on the fat boy , could you use this threw out the day , if you can't find the fob

Hi matt. Even after changing battery if fob is not detected by bike then what can be the issue. I am facing this problem with my FLSTF 2017 fatboy.
Either the battery is installed wrong or you need to take it to a dealer and they need to re-pair the dog with the ECU

There's a way to reset the pin code yourself. Models 2014 and later have one method, 2013 and earlier are slightly different.

I have a 2018 Iron 883, I installed the alarm but now my battery keeps dying. I use the trickle charger to recharge, but if I don’t ride it for more than 2 weeks, my battery is dead again. Is my alarm draining my battery? If so, what can I do?
The alarm does drain the battery more than not having it. Is your battery old? If it’s old then it will discharge faster. If it isn’t old and it’s a healthy battery then it shouldn’t be dead after two weeks. You might have something drawing power that shouldn’t. It’s hard to guess what it is.
It’s usually the last 5 digits of the frames serial number. So you should change it when you buy it.

I keep a spare battery in my wallet, there's been several times when we were on a run other Harley riders were caught with dead fob batteries and they didn't know how to bypass the problem (neither do I that's why I carry the spare), so I'd give them my spare battery and all of a sudden I'm their best friend. By the way, Amazon sells these batteries in bulk (the way I buy them) for very cheap.
Well, hopefully now you just keep your code in your wallet instead of the battery

I want NO security system, at all, do you know, how to do that ? I have a EVO bike from 1998 without security system, and that is just fantastic, no bullshit electronic technology !
I just bought the bike used can’t get a hold of the original owner to find out what the damn pin code was now that I’ve done some work on the bike I can’t get it to start up because it’s in freaking theft mode
Is there way to permanently disable the security system? It keeps killing my battery. I don’t leave my bike anywhere where it would get stolen. My last harley I left the ignition unlocked and never used the key. Now I got a dead bike every month.

My 2018 Deluxe Softail told me my key fob battery was "BATTERY LOW".

You can reset the code if you have the fob within range. Search it on RUclips to see how to do it.
how come you can't actually alarm the bikes? that sicurity system depends then on someone seeing the lights. That's not much help.
You can add an audible alarm to the bike. This security cuts the ignition.

What do you do when your fob dies and you do not want to go through having to punch in numbers. There is really no security you can punch in any numbers the repo people do it all the time security system is just something to cause more electrical problems. I wish that I never purchased that system and would love to have it removed.
Repo companies are given the bike code, not just any combination will allow the bike to start. I have accidentally input the wrong code and it did not allow me to start it. Every bike has the capacity of having a unique code, but a finance company ha the right to that information of it is up for repossession.

I have since carried it into the Dealer and no more Security System just turn the Key and your ready to go - just lock the front forks all they can do is go in circles.

My dealer played dumb and told me the code was on touring bikes not on softails which i found out was bs and i changed it myself
You failed to explain how to disable the security system which was the whole point of your video.
THAT didn't disable the security system. Just disable for transport. AND a trick if your fob dies. ? How to Disable it if it fails

My God Damn Street Rod has cut out, whilst driving, I’ve changed the fob battery., no luck. And it won’t enter PIN mode. I’m stuck so I told the rest of the group to go on to catch the ferry whilst I look for the nearest HD dealer ship. So embarrassed I chose this piece of shit. Nothing but trouble since the beginning with the fob.

It’s 100% disabling the security. To start the bike without the code you’ll need your key fob. This is starting the bike by disabling the security when the fob is lost or runs out of battery
