    This is a 2018 M8 Softail. Over the years Harley has used many variations of this procedure. Check your manual for the specific procedure for Your Bike.

    I have seen a few of these videos, and none of them comment (they hint at...but no actual comment) that if your fob is dead or lost, you CANNOT use these steps to find out what your pin is or change it - you MUST have your working fob present for those two steps. The bike automatically defaults to Enter Pin and won't let you progress farther until the pin is entered correctly. Thanks for the video, guys!

      Great comment. Glad you liked the video.
      Can't speak to other videos, but we were pretty crystal clear that you had to have an operating FOB present to be able to find out what your PIN is.

      @@DKCustomProducts You are correct sir. I was very pleased with the quality of the Transformer and air cleaner. I was already running a DK Customs catch can. The transformer allowed me to clean up the hoses and mounting bracket to hanging the catch can right under the transformer for a very clean look. Also the instructions were very detailed and everything necessary was in the kit. Good job staff at DK Customs.

    Great info on PIN .
    This will work is Fob battery is dead or you lose your key.
    But there is one more caveat that is extremely important for all this to work.
    YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THE IGNITION UNLOCKED if you lose your key or for some reason can’t find it .
    The PIN will not unlock your ignition!!!
    So I never lock my ignition unless I’m home or bike is in the garage.
    By not locking my ignition that’s what my insurance is for in case of theft.
    You have to have the key to unlock the ignition.

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  7 месяцев назад

      Great Points!
      Yes, on models with a fork lock, and/or and ignition lock, the PIN will NOT unlock those. They PIN Only functions to override the Security System in case you do not have a functioning FOB.
      Thank you for commenting! KP

    If you only use this once it will be worth the trouble to prepare for it! No way am I going to remember the steps as its just not something you do everyday. I was at a Rally in Northern Ontario and the festival grounds were home to this huge Micro Wave tower which was not intrusive, but.......yep if you guessed...not one single key fob bike would start because the tower interfered with the fob signal. It was a word of mouth "wtf is up with all the bikes not starting" and it didn't take long before people figured it must be the tower. The old kick start/key guy's were laughing at us! It was so hilarious at the time (I can say that now). I had to pull out my instructions and was able to get started without issue. Then we shared our instructions with others there to try and help out. I still laugh when I think about it and am so glad I had the wherewithal to stash my pin/instructions on me. 😅

    Back in 2015, when I bought my Ultra Limited there were two glossy tear-out wallet cards in the back of the owners manual. They allowed space for you to write your PIN with a sharpie, and included instructions for how to activate and enter the PIN. I still have the card in my wallet today.

    Just FYI, be careful about wiggling or moving the bike without the FOB even if you have the pincode memorized. If you move the bike enough and the FOB isnt in range, the bike will go into a mode where it wont let you put the pin in, and will reset the ignition repeatedly, and even if you do manage to put the pin in intime, the bike will still reset back to security mode.
    I found this out the hard way when I was plugging a tire that got a screw in it. I bright the plugs out, and put one in and didnt have the fob on me the entire time. Went to turn the bike on and... it kept resetting over and over again, no matter how may times I toggled the switch.
    I went back grabbed the keyfob, keyfob in range the self disabling mode went away and the bike started. Turned the bike off set the keys down 10 feet away, and then toggled the switch and then I put the pin in and started it that way.
    Im not sure why it does this but it's super annoying.

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  2 года назад +1

      Good point. Thanks for adding this info here. Appreciate it.
      I believe it does this as part of the security...if the bike is messed with enough, without the FOB present or the PIN being punched in, it disables the bike, making it less attractive to steal.

In addition to copying and pasting the FOB info from the manual and putting it into a doc, I printed it out and stored the document in my notes app on my iPhone. So now I am covered with an analog printed out sheet and a digital copy. Better safe than sorry. Oh did I mention that I put the PIN only in my notes app :-) Keep these videos coming. P.S. @DKCustomProducts  9 месяцев назад

      If the FOB is gone forever and you know the code, you can use that indefinitely.
      If you know the code, & you just want a new fob, it has to be "married" to the bike at the Dealership with their equipment.
      If you don't know the code, you will have to purchase an entire new security module with matching FOB's. It needs to be installed at a Dealership.

    I bought a used 2005 Dyna FXDI from a used bike dealer and it only had 1 fob. The Dyna was delivered and I did not get the pin number. I email the sales person and he said you just click the fob button 4 times and its armed, to dis arm it, click the button 4 times again. I decided not to arm it and recently the bike wouldn't crank over/battery at 13.5V. I change the fob battery and at first it didn't work and so I tapped the fob and then it cranked right over and started up. I am guessing the fob is worn out. Should I go to a Harley dealer and buy a new fob?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад

      You will have to have a good working FOB to find out what your pin is.
      Over the years Harley has used many variations of this procedure. Check your manual for the specific procedure for Your Bike and figure out your pin so that your FOB will not be needed unless you want it.
