Can you hear the drilling in the background? It's not always easy to time filming these videos with my little one's nap times and when I finally manage to get started, the neighbours' renovation team decides to start drilling! Oh boy!
    #challengesofnaptimefilming.
I hope it wasn't too distracting! On another note, how do you respond to people expressing concern about the diet choices you make for your child? I'd love to hear about it if you're up for sharing!

My biggest concern raising to vegan girls since birth and they are currently 5 and 7 is this idea of igf1 insufficiency and the need for dairy . Dr Gregor said the body makes all it needs and requires no exogenous igf1 however their seems to be a debate on this complicated topic and it to me is very concerning. My kids are above average in size but I’m still concerned about this issue because it may be far reaching in areas other than height . Thank you and any info on this is much appreciated

The majority of ancestral groups have not eaten dairy outside of breast milk for thousands of years. Some Africans, Europeans, and Middle Easterners can tolerate dairy but the vast majority of people have a form of lactose intolerance. That’s proof in and of itself we don’t need it. Look at Polynesians or other Asian groups, they don’t consume any dairy products traditionally.

I wanted to be a vegan dietitian too. Do you get flack from clients or bosses?

good on you for dealing with that in such a positive way :) would love a video on vegetarian kids I heard dairy can affect how they absorb iron? and whether they should also be followed by a dietitian would just be interesting to know this even from an adult perspective

Thanks Jessica! Indeed, calcium can reduce the absorption of iron. This is why parents are typically encouraged to avoid giving their children dairy before the age of 1, and, afterwards, to avoid providing it to their children at the same time as iron-rich foods.
I think that parents can always benefit from scheduling a consult with a registered to ensure that their children's diet meets their nutrient needs. And I believe this true for all children - omnivore, vegetarian and vegan alike.
That said, I believe that when parents choose not to feed their children certain foods, they need to gain knowledge on make sure that their children still get enough of these nutrients from other foods (or supplements). That's why I believe vegetarian and vegan children particularly benefit from having their diet analyzed by a registered dietitian. Hope this helps? :)

I need to know what's in your astrological natal chart. Do you have Virgo 10th house?
