This is so helpful! As a first time mum who’s facing a lot of criticism for raising my baby vegan I really want to make sure that I can provide everything my baby needs! Thank you for providing so much important information and guidance :)
You're welcome and happy this could help! Vegan diets can be adequate for all stages of life, including infancy and childhood. That said, planning a vegan diet in a way that meets a child's needs does require some specialized knowledge. That's why I encourage all parents wishing to feed their children a vegan diet to seek out help from a registered dietitian specializing in vegan diets first -- just to make sure they have their bases covered :) If you haven't done this already, or don't know of any registered dietitians specializing in vegan nutrition in your area, feel free to reach out as I currently am accepting new clients remotely!
❤Thank you for this very informative video that I immediately shared with my two daughters for their children. I have been a vegan for 37 years and have been living on a Raw Vegan diet for most of that time. I certainly started with a cooked vegan diet that was about 50% raw. Your approach is very doable for busy moms.😊 I really appreciate you sharing very practical ideas about how to feed young children a vegan diet complete with how to incorporate the omega rich plant foods. I also appreciate how you share the breakdown of how you are meeting a young child nutritional needs. 😊 You’re doing a great job. 😊 Keep up the awesome videos! 😊❤
37 years; that's incredible! And two daughters that are raising their children vegan too. Wow. What an inspiration :) Thank you for your kind words and glad that my content could provide some additional meal ideas!
Thank you so much! As a vegan mom I cherish every one of these ideas ♥️♥️please keep sharing with us. This week I made a red lentil soup for my 15 month old. He loved it. Basically, I sauted onions, garlic, celery and carrots with a little turmeric powder and oregano. Then I added some water, quinoa and the lentils. After it cooked, I blended it because my baby is not very fond of texture yet😌 he ate all his portion, so it made me happy 😁 I'm thinking now, after watching your video, that I could have topped it off with some grounded chia or pumpkin seeds! Let me know what you think of the soup😁
Your lentil soup sounds delicious! Topping it with chia or pumpkin seeds is a good idea. You can also add some sliced avocado on the side for a little extra fat :)
Snacks ideas video would be definitely something that I would love to see. Thanks for great video and ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Love watching you!
Thanks for those great tips! We are a vegetarian family hoping to transition to fully vegan diet soon however my 2 year old daughter is a picky eater and eats only tiny amounts of foods... Now I finally know what to look out for while preparing her yummy veggie meals! 😄 I would also love seeing the snacks for kids video! Take care ☺️
Glad you found this video useful! And thanks for your request for a snack-specific video. I had also planned on perhaps covering picky eating at some point. Is this a topic you might find useful too? :)
Hi! Not exactly the topic but do you maybe have experience with families wishing to go vegan when they have small omnivore (or rather a very meat-based picky eater...) at home? Not that I want to pressure my daughter into anything but I would love to encourage her to eat more vegan meals and also find it difficult to deal with her leftover dairy or meat.
Hi Anuke! Not off topic at all! I think the tips in the video I just uploaded about picky eating apply to this situation as well. I'd basically recommend trying to slowly include more plant-based options in your daughter's meals, making sure to keep include at least 1-2 of her "safe foods" in each meal. Eventually, her list of plant-based "safe foods" will grow, allowing you to slowly phase out the animal-based products. Just keep in mind that although vegan diets can be appropriate for children when well-planned, learning how to plan a vegan diet around a child's nutrition requirements can be difficult. That's why encourage all parents wishing to feed their children a vegan or mainly plant-based diet to speak to a registered dietitian specializing in this area of nutrition first. Just to make sure you have all your bases covered :) If you struggle finding a plant-based dietitian in an area near you, feel free to shoot me an email as I currently have a few spots open for remote clients ☺️
I hate myself for saying this but the photo you have of your 2 year old's meal includes toast and mentions pancakes. In the USA, wheat grown is all GMO unless listed on the label. GMO means RoundUp Ready/glyphosate grains sprayed which you have to know the dangers. Take Care
