Important tip: Don't loosen your grip while holding your sabre. You're gonna increase your chances of the sabre flying off your hand. Most of the spinning should not be just relying on your sword arm, but also twisting your body does most of the flowing movement.

How do you retain grip? The metal rod I’m using keeps slipping out of my hands when I spin it faster.

@@builder1013 Hey! Fellow iron guy huh? Yeah so. On one of my poles i used some black duct tape kind of thing to make a handle. I liked it and it gave me grip. On the other one. I have no tape. But grip isn’t really a problem. When not using grip it goes smoother anyway. I wouldn’t recommend tape since it really hurts your fingers after spinning. Use no grip. Just practice. You’ll get the hang of it. And don’t forget. DON’T HIT YOUR HEAD

@@Ballistic_Missile. I mean, I've been using a glove for grip, but I guess practice might help. Thankfully I haven't hit myself on the head, but I did hit my knee and hurt my hand a bit when I used a bamboo stick instead of a metal rod. But when I'm practicing my hands are dry so it just tends to slip when I spin it fast.

I have read that you need to create momentum for the saber using the shoulder and back plus pivoting at the hip a little to make the movement fluid.
