Great video, can you make a video deeply explaining how to use burst speed practice? I’m trying to implement it on my practices because I used the old school stuff, like playing until it was perfect and then adding 10 bpm and the cycle repeats.I found burst speed practice really interesting and I looks really helpful!!.
try to increase your speed out of metronome tempo in a short time , it doesn't matter if it's out of tempo because the goal here is the speed, after that go back to your comfortable speed. trust me your speed will improve. don't think too much about the note clarity , get the speed first :D
Thanks so much! i'm almost ceirtain that shred run is fully alternate picked. ruclips.net/video/2w8Gq57F_4k/видео.html watch his right hand in this live performance :)
Thanks for letting me know. I did test it and it seemed to work, but then someone else said there was an issue too. in the mean time write me our email address here and i'll sort you out :)
Thanks! 130 bursts are great tho! i would aim for a speed where you have a success rate of about 3-4 good takes to every sloppy take or mistake. for sure i can't play the whole lick at 150. but John Petrucci in the clip i showed (beyond this life) does a lick twice as long as the main lick here bassically at 145. He is a true beast
see if you can play it higher up on the neck where the frets are smaller: you could add 7 to each Tab number to easily transpose it up to A Minor. then, overtime, start to play it lower until you get the flexibilty. Hope that helps :)
Guitarists who actually practice and preach technique have the ability to create endless content because the guitar is so easy to pick up and yet so easy to play poorly. I wish I had started with a metronome and a disciplined approach when I started, but I did in college and have never looked back.

Yeah for sure i will dedicate a video to this approach soon. thanks for watching and the suggestion :D

@@MovieMomentsReviewFilm thank you!!
JP is a freaking milestone in history of guitar with that video : John Petrucci - Rock Discipline
yup, and back in the day before YT i had the DVD :D
Thank you!
most welcome :D
Great video man. Hope there's one about vito brata too
theres so many great players to do! :D
Trank you for Deep insight into good practicing Methods!
Most Videos dont focus on These Important topics.
Thankyou! glad your finding it valuable! :D
John Petrucci's real value is in his ability to write a great song
Hollow Years is an all-time fav.
You can't deny he's a great flatpicker too though.
He's a legend in so many ways. I wanted to focus on his alt picking pentatonics in this video tho :)
John Petrucci's real value is the friends he makes along the way
haha :D@@alexandrefrancofilho5041
@@RobSmith-rn3ielisten to the outro solo of the best of times. Make sure you put your earphones on. Thank me later
Very cool layout to aid in well taught subjects. Guess I'll like and subscribe. Thanks
Thanks! glad you think so :)
Muitíssimo obrigado pela força 🙏
thankyou! more on the way soon :D
Thanks, another great video.
Why didn't you release these videos 25 years earlier? Would have saved me a lot of frustration :)
i also wish i had my own videos back then too! haha, thanks so much :)
Cooool ❤❤❤❤
haha thanks :D
when he is playing another day solo , is he using economy picking + alternate picking ? or all alternate picking ? btw it was great lesson!

Great video and great advice, but the link to the tab isn’t working. Could you please look into it. Thanks!

Should be working now :)
Thanks man, really enjoying your content!!
Could you tell me what metronome app you are using please ?
I use Time Guru on my phone, and flutetunes metronome on desktop :)
Thank you 😄
idk how you do that at 150...im at 130 and only getting it clean like every other burst..couldnt imagine doing it faster

👍
thanks :D
For me, ZW's licks are more difficult to execute without a good picking style
those 2 note per string loops are the hardest. I wouldnt probably use them soloing live haha, but i practice them to strengthen my alternate picking
JP is a monster guitarist. But best? Gilbert, Malmsteen eats Petrucci for breakfast
John Petrucci is a great alternate picker. But only second to Paul Gilbert
PG also a beast :D
SPEED KILLS! Give me 10 MELODIC notes that make me cry any day.
👨🏼🦼
Neal Schon does that beautifully with 5 notes in who's crying now.
Atletas azulinos somos nós 😂😂😂😂
My fingers can't reach the 8 - 10 - 13. lame :(

Jps technique and sound changed after he switched to ernie ball, more steve morse ish.
I know this is full time guitar but what if you only want to play part time 😂
well thats ok too! :D
John Sykes destroys this style of playing and picking in his 80s live solo.

I spent all last year focusing solely on economy picking and you throw this alternate picked lick at me 😢 jk this rules, gonna get at it!
I ALSO spent time doing RHO practice a lot too so this is actually right in my wheelhouse lol
haha, glad you like it. Gunna be doing some economy picking stuff this year for sure :D
I’m the 420th viewer hahaha
:D
I'm sorry, but jp isn't remotely close to the best alternate pickers of all time. Check out Shawn lane
Shawn is quite possibly the GOAT.
Shawn Lane might very well be the GOAT. A lot of guys were doing stuff in the 80s that hasnt been matched since IMO
Can confirm Shawns the goat
JP is great but when he said that I instantly thought of Michael Romeo.
i also love Micheal romeo's playing @@wob6776
