Quality stuff! It's so exciting to be near the ground floor of such an amazing channel that's definitely destined to take off.

    Good stuff…
I forget to play the simple stuff and then when I here someone playing I ask myself why not. The pentatonic is what got us all started.

Even guthrie says most the best guitar solos in history were played just on the minor pentatonic with some bends. (im paraphrsing but yeah haha)

My problem with Pentatonic is when to place the economic picking in a fast descending and ascending lick. I also have no idea where to place the 7th in every run.

I'll be doing economy picking stuff soon :)

Am I first to comment? In any case, thanks for the video! I NEED to learn some licks! Scales, I got…and I *sound* probably exactly how you’d think I would 😢

We've all been there! i've got 2 videos which talk about improvisation/ writing solos (the one with the tick and cross, and the one where there rope on my fingers) let me know if you get time to watch those, in the mean time keep going! :)

If you can't do the slide lick with the pick , on string changing, you just should study more. Like Petrucci says: I never use hybrid picking. If I can't do it, I just study until I can''. Hybrid picking just sucks. It looks so ugly, I hate it.

Hybrid picking has a slightly different sound, I think it depends also on what sound you want to achieve

I say everyone should play how they feel is easiest/ sounds best for them. Some players even play 3 note per sting scales with hybrid picking lol. but like i said, feel free to play everything with a pick, theres no right or wrong with this stuff IMO :)
