Howzit Bro, I'm born and raised on the Kona side. Im a contractor so i bought 3 lots in Puna to build and sell. The first thing you should do out there before building any infrastructure or planting is fencing off the property. I had to learn the hard way, i started building on my first lot i left for the weekend came back and almost everything was stolen. Don't get me wrong, Puna is a beautiful place to live, but there's always those bad apples. 🤙🏾
Hire a bulldozer to do the clearance for you or invest in a backhoe. It’s worth the money overtime. You can clear what you want to and bring in soil for your garden. I live in Kohala and I want to build a tiny home community to help locals get back on their feet to save money to buy their own home later. Good job bro!
Cute tiny home..........as we're all on Catchment (water from the sky). Would love to see the interior one day. Welcome to the Big Island, and all my best.
Thank you for sharing this. I have a small house in Pahoa and do a life VLOG here on RUclips as well. May I ask what the house cost? If it’s too personal forgive me. I’m just trying to figure out if I can afford one. Wishing you a smooth transition.
Mahalo 4 sharing. I watch on my TV & comment on my phone. Sharing that was Incredible. To see that you have unlocked a portal where u can decompress & "touch grass," and be 0ne with the 'aina is such a Dream a lot of us have. Again Mahalo 4letting us in2 this Peace of Paradise 0asis! ❤️🔥🙏🏽🍍🍍🐗🌌🧿btw luv how u shared about the mana or power u feel there, Big Island has the same effect on me too.
Hey get a solar light for in the house, that has a solar panel that you can put on the outside of the house, so it looks like your there, when your not. Get solar cameras and don't leave your generator or anything that you can carry. There are people who will steal everything you have. Be careful, not everyone is honest. Looks great though!
Aloha, I left California to the Big Island several years ago, bought land and built houses, Tiny houses also, I think a lot of people have the same idea, build a off grid tiny house, have a food forest, anyway no idea where I'm going with this ), other than burned out building houses for 30 years, I can relate to the burn out part anyway I left a few rentals on Big Island , I have a few more to build. So I'm taking a break from building and got a real estate license, so anyone need a real estate agent for the Big Island ya know one , Aloha
I have land in HPP that I havent started working on yet so I loved watching this video! How much did it cost to clear that area? Looking forward to seeing any updates and maybe even speaking with you about it one of these days 🤙
Because it’s built on an insured and registered trailer, it’s considered temporary dwelling. And because it’s under 400sq ft, it avoids the need for permitting. And we’re also off grid.
@kumokun yea best part of Big Island is that most residential land is considered "Agriculture" so most of the time you can get away with building anything
It's ironic, isn't it, that you live on the world's most fertile land and you have to buy most of your food. Everything grows here. You throw a seed on the ground, it will grow by itself. Yet, the locals have to buy every single food item or they'll die of hunger. No wonder why they always complain everything is expensive and unaffordable.
Vuaeco is right. I add to that. ryanchow8167 you must have lots of money or you’re lazy to plant your own food or at least most of it. What a waste of your land not to plant edible food.
@@ryanchow8167 I agree with the sentiment. For the years I’ve been coming in and out of island, food access was always a constraint. Though the community support, ‘ohana attitude, and the shared challenges in the neighborhoods have been really encouraging. So while I get that going off grid and living off your own food exclusively may not be the option in the near future, the community is key to make that work. At least that’s the hope.
Hawaiians would plant an ulu tree every time a child was born so he'd never go hungry...but ulu, avocado, coconut would probably make enough starch, oil, fat to get by
The amount of transplants trying to buy in Hawaii just to go “off grid” is unsettling. People need to buy where THEY’RE from and stop promoting other people to do the same as you or give them a blueprint. Leave the land for Native Hawaiians. Not random transplants who to live the ‘Hawaii lifestyle’.
“I’ve lived in Hawaii for 23 years, and I deeply understand and live aloha. Division and hatred only harm us all. Get over that idea of living off the land in Hawaii! We don’t do that over here we buy most of our food!

The lava rock doesn’t allow for much variety of fruit trees aside from papaya and cacao at from my experience in fern forest
