Telling it like it is Sean….always appreciated…We definitely want to set up at the very least a small supplemental solar system totally separate from grid as we are already on grid. I would go smaller on batteries and heavier on panels…run more high draw stuff like crock pots and coffee makers during the daytime ..having 4 weedy rocky Puna acres, I see a few goats, rabbits, and chickens in our future🤙
Always enjoy your channel, Sean. A comment on this one…..it’s all relative on the crime. I’m in Las Vegas, moving to puna in 19 months. We will improve our safety because in Las Vegas we are twice as likely to be a victim to violent crime and slightly higher on property crime. There are robbery rings from Los Angeles that have lookouts in Vegas, they come in, rob your home, take the items back to LA and liquidate. The property crime in Puna is more a product of vacation homes that are empty or meth heads in Pahoa, from what I’ve heard. Sucks that crime is going up in Hawaii, but it’s a safer option for some of us my friend! 🤙
You failed to mention the homeless. It’s so sad. My home is on Oahu & my mortgage is $2400 a month and I have every creature comfort. I wouldn’t consider living off grid. Im glad you got there early!!
I bought mine during covid the real estate market went crazy and then a bunch of people started moving here once you get everything set up though it's cheap to live@@HomesteadinHawaii
The cheap lots are either in very sketchy neighborhoods with tweakers stealing anything they can or they are in lava zone one(high risk) and no insurance is available or affordable and that means you can't get a loan/mortgage. The number one reason I see people leave Hawaii is the lack of healthcare.
Because I had a csection once upon a time and normal pregnancies in-between time, I have to go to another island (or go back to mainland) to have a baby. It took me a month to get prenatal care with my last pregnancy.
Hawaii is rated #1 in the country for healthcare. Maybe it depends on the island, but my healthcare on Oahu is top notch! Im very grateful to have such caring doctors.
Everybody is rightfully complaining about high real estate prices yet it keeps getting more expensive because we have more and more people. Eight billion and counting. Q: Are there any cold hardy breadfruits? It doesn't freeze here anymore but I read they are sensitive to cold and die.
Once you get everything set up though it's very cheap to live I did the math and should be able to live on 500 a month and I know people out here that do off-grid is freedom no rent no mortgage no water bill no electric
That lot clearing costing 15k was AIna providing because Aina wants you in Hawaii. That's one of the main things if Aina wants you on island it will be clear things will be good there will still be the "cons" of Hawaii but yeah if you're supposed to be here it's clear and if you're not its also pretty clear it's not "your choice" it's Pele's or the AI that runs our simulation's choice...if entities want you here that's what's going to happen. Do the research definitely and over estimate how much it costs and be vegan Hawaii needs more vegans the ridiculous milk and eggs cost is completely forgone that way 🤙
Be careful really far out like think about it war criminals hide out in some of those places rich ones in plain sight...you might become a mind control victim especially if you toke up I'm just being real here from experience 🤙
Keep up the great work. Really learn a whole lot from your videos.
Awesome, thank you!

Sounds like a dream, one thing, batteries are great during those long rainy spells, but I guess there's always a generator 😉

Very true. Just wish crime wasn't a thing.

Population is definitely one reason for price rises, the other is the federal reserve. But yeah. I get ya.
Otay might be a good variety for you but how cold is cold, fern acres cold or mainland cold?
@@HomesteadinHawaiiYou got that right!! The fed is the problem.
Septic tank?
SEPTIC TANK! I knew I forgot something big. I started off with a compost toilet. I wish I mentioned that in the video. Maybe I can pin a comment.
Mahalo for pointing it out

It’s doable once setup, but cost of things are going up!
@HomesteadinHawaii cost of things are up everywhere in Michigan eggs are $4 lol
