  • A brief 50 mph speed code makes the Antioch bound train seem to race the Richmond bound train (A2 car 1241 leading) between 19th St and MacArthur stations. One of my favorite aspects of BART.

    The Antioch Trains has been programmed to go faster and higher priority than the Richmond Train. I ride it everyday.

      Yes the CX track has a higher speed code, 50 mph instead of 36 mph on the C1 track. The CX was added in the mid 80s if memory serves correctly.

      @@ATPTransit You are correct, the CX track was added in the mid 1980's. For years the center bore of the north and southbound tunnels, "just had a section of track" hanging out from the inside" While I don't remember for certain the side track on the west side might have been added during this time. I do recall when the CX tracks were being installed.
