  • A rare sight - two BART trains racing down the A line in revenue service, at 70 mph! Essentially, the Green line train (riding - lead car 1262) was reverse running through Fruitvale station to pass the Blue line train (led by C1 car 449), which was holding for police activity minutes prior. As luck would have it, both trains leave the station at the same time, but the timing of speed codes slightly differs, making it appear like the two trains are racing - something not normally expected given the constraints of the system.

I can’t imaging the drivers reaction to it. I also have vivid memories of taking Bart to San Bruno and Fremont often

Basically yes, it was not scheduled and both trains received 70/80 mph speed codes
