Well, I've watched this video several times now. Decided to make the bread today. The dough is raising now, waiting the 3 hours, by the way I'm a man who is approaching my 70th birthday, still learning and relearning.
Hear, Hear. I'm just a young fella of 63, always have done all the cooking & I love watch'n videos for new recipes . Wonder'n if you could crush up a banana or mulch up an apple and add?
hey Dennis, I am almost 60 and don't have anything baking at the moment... I wanna know how did your bread turn out ? Do you recommend the recipe? I live in Hawaii and worry the huditity may make it a mess, but I remember bread fresh from the oven as a kid at grandmas and I want my daughter to know the experience. Later today we are baking a welcome Springtime cake. I am using lemon curd between the layers and buttercream frosting on top and I think I will sprinkle with light pink and light green sugars just a tad. BTW, Happy birthday whenever that is. Does 70 feel much older than 60? I can't believe that I am that age...I remember going to a few Led Zepplin concerts, getting married, kids, death of sweetie and now I am old looking. But I still crank Zepplin and try new stuff all the time...I dion't think I am that old, somebody is counting too fast.

Hey, I tried this with 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of sour dough starter. No yeast (as the starter has yeast). I also added 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and 5 already pickled jalapeno slices. Had to let it set @4-5 hrs. Then baked as you said. OMG delicious. Thanks for such a versatile recipe. Mind you I've already made your original recipe many times and it's lovely.
How did you add the cheese without ending up with a moist/gummy inside bread consistency? I added shredded raw pepper jack cheese and ended up with a gummy inside and it didn’t rise.
My wife started baking bread when the Corona pandemic started. Tried a couple of recipes and settled on yours as the best and most consistent.. She uses your basic recipe to make white, rosemary, cheese, cran raisin, and cinnamon raisin bread. Using the dutch oven at the correct temperature is critical. Literally perfect and delicious every time.
I've looked up every available recipe. I've baked 3 - 4 variations. This is a good one. But I increased flour by 1 cup, tripled salt, & doubled yeast. So, of course, I needed to increase the water. Keep at it Kevin & Sarah!!

I wanted to come back and thank you. I did it! I did it! I baked bread AND it's edible and has a fantastic taste!!! I've tried for years and I decided I'd be a non-bread maker. But, no more. I really did it and I thank you so much. ~Sherrie in South Carolina
We've had this recipe in the family for years, love it. I will knead it with some extra flour, roll it out, then really soft butter spread it out, brown sugar and cinnamon, nuts or raisins to taste and put in oven. Cinnamon raisin bread, slice and let cool slightly then spread with butter or we even light powdered sugar frosting for special occasions. I fixed this often with my teenagers friends going through the house after sports practices. Also used this dough, roll it out, put pepperoni, cheese for pizza rolls, AWESOME
Since early this year I've been back to baking my own fresh loaves and will say a loaf is sadly unlucky as it's gone within 24hrs and having to prep another the next day. Must add I have grown very fussy in which strong flour I use and was glad to come across 1.5kg bags of flour (bakewell) costing less than 50pence and that flour has given the best results in comparison to the bags of strong flour that are sold in 1kg and costing over a £1. Will add there are times when I knead and rest the dough more than twice where strong white flour is concerned but where wholemeal flour is involved I do give it 3 to 4 cycles before baking
Thanks Kevin Watching from Beautiful Southern Iowa 12/30/22 This looks simple U can take parchment paper and wad it up, it will form easily to Dutch oven. Blessed 2023

I love Kevin's genuine excitement about that beautiful loaf of bread!! Can't wait to try it myself. You both are such an inspiration everyday. God has truly blessed you with the ability to teach. I learn more than I could have ever imagined and appreciate your efforts and your channel so much!
Change the word "apex" to "annoying" and I may listen to what you say. Nothing makes a side of veggies taste better than a piece of a dead animal on my plate.
I waited to post my sincere appreciation for this recipe until after I twice made the recipe because I wanted to be certain the first time wasn't a fluke. It was not. WOW! Has this been a game changer. Great bread in 3 hour + 30 min and no kneading! Who knew?! I have a mini cast iron dutch oven and so I was able to half the recipe to make what resembles the perfect "pugliese petite boule" that tasted just yum if not better and so much less expensive. I did the math and each loaf costs approximately .38 and that's using King Arthur bread flour. So unbelievably happy that I FINALLY have a bread recipe that I can count on and it's just four freaking ingredients! Amazing. Thank you!
My husband, who used to do ALL the cooking, died in 2017 from Cancer. Im learning to cook now out of necessity Ive always wanted to make bread but was so intimidated by the yeast. Your recipe is perfect for me! I wish I had this last night when I had made my very first, from scratch Beef Stew! Thanks Ive bookmarked this video so I can make this bread when I make my very first batch of Potato soup next week.
Dear LadyDewinter, I also had to learn cooking at a late age because i needed to eat healthy which meant making everything from scratch using ingredients that were fresh and not processed. I found blogs to be my best source in the beginning and there were so many out there. Good luck with your soup - i'd love to hear about it. You make me happy to read about your stew. today i am making a cannellini bean soup with dark greens - kale, chard, dandelion, spinach, bok choy and fresh tomatoes and herbs. the only food product in there is the organic vegetable broth from Pacific.
This is great! As a tip, if you're using table salt, use 1-1/2 tsp. You can let this dough sit in the bowl on the counter the first time up to 18 hours before going to the second rise. It takes on a more sourdough flavor so if you don't want that, don't do it. If you do let it rise for a longer period, you'll need to flatten the dough out more before folding it into a ball for the second rise or you'll have big holes in the middle. I hope this helps and I love, love, love this video! Good job and family!
Making my first load of this bread today! I added fresh rosemary and dill from my garden, along with some garlic powder, and plan to serve it with a broccoli cheese soup I’ll be making for dinner. Looks fabulous and is SO much easier than my sourdough!
I was so impressed by the look and sound of this bread I finally bought myself the Dutch oven I've been debating on whether I would really use enough to justify the buying of. What can I say, bought it last Saturday and used this recipe same night. We had a fantastic traditional style Scotch forthwith the bread it was anamazing combination. Our son dropped in unexpectedly on Sunday and much to my husband's dismay after tasting both asked if he could take what was then left ( very little) with him of course mum said yes. Back to Kevin's recipe for mum then. We were planning on having a farmhouse beef stew loaded with fresh beef ( we live in Scotland and when we say we cooked with Aberdeen Angus fresh beef we really mean fresh) and fresh picked root vegetables from garden . I would normally serve this with Australian cobbler pastry recipe ( similar to the American biscuits and savory Scottish pancakes but this totally wipes the floor of both above mentioned toppings for any gravy based dish). I had managed to make a second loaf without husband realising but this time had crowned loaf using multi grained seeds to give the stew a little bit of a extra bite as it were. IT WAS OUTSTANDING. I'VE BEEN MAKING MY OWN BREAD ETC TOO LONG TO BE WANTING TO ADMIT TO, AND HAVING GROWN UP ON A SPECIALTY SCOTTISH BEEF FARM THAT HAS PROVIDED THE BEEF ETC FOR BARMORAL FROM QUEEN VICTORIA TIMES TO PRESENT-DAY I KNOW MY BEEF AS IT WERE. It was another success so thank you Kevin thank you very much indeed. I often have a beef stew simmering when staff come to restock just before the family begin arriving for their traditional stay. This time I will also have some of Kevin's crusty bread on table to let the staff try it for themselves. I will most certainly be giving the credit for the bread to Kevin. Will update you on outcomes
Pro Tip: Use less parchment by cutting it shorter, so that the lid of the dutch oven can close more effectively. The moisture in the dough creates steam and cooks the bread giving it that beautiful shinyness outside as it cracks and stretches...but not as much if the lid isn't more air tight.
This is the only bread recipe I've made for several years. We always have fresh bread on the shelf!! I have simplified it even further. I don't have a dutch oven that is easy to lift, like yours. I use 2 bread pans, one to put the dough in and the other to act as a "lid" upturned on the first one. Often I don't even preheat the pans. For flour, I"ll use a mix of whole wheat, all-purpose, bread flour, oatmeal, wheat bran, or whatever inspires me in the moment. Usually, I'll measure out 2 cups of flour then add some of one or a few of the other options. Sometimes the additional options are more than 1 cup, but as long as the dough is shaggy it works. I always mix it up just before going to bed, so it can rest/rise overnight. Forget the plastic wrap to cover ... just use a saucepan lid that fits the bowl. In the morning, stir a few times, dump into the bread pan and let rest, covered with the other bread pan, while the oven preheats. Bake. After 30 minutes, I push the upper pan off the lower, turn the oven off and come back in 15 minutes or so. Done. Our bread always is delicious, never the same as last time and disappears quickly. So if you're going to try this recipe, once you've got the hang of it, you can vary the ingredients. All white flour bread is good with herbs, or other things added to the dough at the second mixing. Yummmm.
I have used this bread recipe many times with great success. Just a tip, I crumble paper into a ball then straighten out[easier to put in bowl, and I fold after use and use again)
The paper tip, BOOM! I've been making many different kinds of no knead breads, in many ways, for many years. I have found some great tips but that's the best one I've seen in a LONG time! Thanks Ivan!
Thanks for such a wonderful recipe for bread and soup. Your farm looks great and your animals i see are greatly cared for. Thank you both for your time, and your daughter, to be in the vid, at the table and to keep looking at the camera with a Smile, It's Beautiful. Happy Family. Blessings Shalom.
I salvaged, restored and seasoned a Dutch oven from a log cabin on my hunting property, and used it for the first time making this bread. I cannot think of a better bread I have ever tried. Will make again and again! Thank you so much!
i dont have dutch oven but do have cast iron skillet and covered casserole dishes. gluten inflames joints so i dont get much bread. gonna attempt this recipe.
hello...I'm 63 and started bread making with my grandchildren ages 5 to 14..did they love it I was amazed..they got a kick out of rising dough...and play dough texture...I made it a class in homeschooling my 2 grandchildren....
I'm a bread maker now. I love it. Thanks, I'm making bread every other day now. My last loaf I brushed egg white on it and sprinkled a lot of sesame seeds and fleur de sel on it. So good.
That sounds yummy! Can you tell me if you brush the butter and seeds on it for the initial cook or in the last, uncovered few minutes? Do the seeds burn?
@@pattytucker3199 Shoot, I haven't made it in awhile. I'm pretty sure it's for the initial cook because the steam keeps them from burning. Then when you take the cover off they get toasted just right. Good luck. I've never had burned seeds. I've got to find an oven. I live in Ecuador now and ovens in older homes are kinda rare.
Maybe Missouri is a good option to go and settle down. I love the countryside! It was a pleasure to watch the goats. It calls my attention that they don´t have dogs and cats too. I would have loved to see more animals.
I remember when l lived in Melb, Australia in the middle of a city and watched you all the time, and now, l live in Upstate New York, on a huge property, went back to watch you make the bestest and easiest bread, today and made some for our Church fellowship meeting, now they also want the recipe, just a thank you, we all love watching your journey and how you manage so well. Thank you !!!
It's so nice to see your youngest at the dinner table with you. What a sweet smile she has. This bread and soup looks wonderful and delicious! Thank you so much for sharing!
You make your recipes so understandable that I always feel like I can make them too. And surprise, I can! Thanks for all your thoughtful explanations. Keep them coming. 🤗
I'm DEFINITELY making this today. It's supposed to get in the -40's today so nice home made bread will be lovely...and it will make the house smell great! I think I'll get hubby to make some chili to go with it! Thanks, Kevin for the great idea for a cold winter day!!
It’s a great bread so I’ve heard. May have to try it gluten free, just never trust the gluten free way. But smells great when baking. I like to share with those that don’t bake!
@@LivingTraditionsHomestead The bread was a success yesterday. So easy to make and much more dense than I thought it would be. It was a very heavy loaf :) Great taste, though!
I love your farming life. You remind me about my grandmother. She cooked and hand made everything organic from her garden. It is such a wonderful life. Thank you for your sharing.
I love this bread. I like to use add-ins. Garlic rosemary for spaghetti night, jalapeno cheddar with chili, cranberry orange for breakfast toast. (Though I think plain with the cranberry sauce Sarah canned would be amazing.)
I just made the bread for breakfast this morning! Best bread I’ve ever made! 😃 It was a hit! I combined the ingredients last night and let it rise overnight and finished it off this morning. This will be my go to recipe from now one. Thank you for sharing it ❤️🙏🏻

Linda Cummings I’d love to see a woman cooking at home cooking. Somehow my statement is sexist, but your’s isn’t. Seems hypercritical, but I’m sure you have a plausible explanation, so let’s hear it.
Thank you, Lauren. Isn't it a shame that my showing support for Kevin with a simple compliment would be questioned, as though it had a sinister hidden meaning.
God bless you, I wish I could live this way! My family line goes way back with farmers and I have it in my blood! Lots of work I know, but God bless you for doing it!!!
thank you for this simple easy recipe..I have made it about 6 times and it always comes out perfectly....in this day and age of ''panic buying' and hoarding of bread and other supplies, this recipe is heaven sent...don't have to rush out to the store and try and find bread...its right at your fingertips...thank you again...keep up the good work...love the show...
I thought I was having a déjà-vu moment! 🤣 I prefer Jenny’s presentation to tell the truth but you know, at first, we all copy & learn someone’s else’s ways until we mold and perfect our own!
I was disgusted that these copy cats didn't give credit to whom its due and presented it as if it was originally their recipe. Stolen recipe, stolen technique... pathetic Kevin.
A few other comments already on this video. Been making bread + for about 50 years. Saw a RUclips video and the chap was stirring with the handle end of his wooden spoon so i tried that method WOW. Now I make this recipe and have a “handle” in (not on :-)..it..

I have watched your videos for a long time & now my son who lives in Poland watches them. What a fascinating life you lead but very hard work. Love your videos.
This will be my GO TO! Made my first last night! Awesome! I didn't have it dry enough--but I was able to save it with 12-15 min more in that hot oven. I added fresh rosemary & thyme and lightly sauteed garlic slivers. It is like a piece of heaven on these dark dismal days! Thanks!
I made a double batch of this awesome bread yesterday. The only thing I should have added a pinch more salt. I use the Himalayan Pink Salt also, have for years. This bread is so crunchy and tender in the middle. So delicious!! I'll be making this more often. Thank you for sharing your recipe❤❤
I literally just pulled my first ever loaf of bread from scratch out of the oven, made using this recipe. It's amazing!!! Excellent recipe and instruction, thank you very much for sharing!!

I've never had much luck with you tube recipes, and I was fearful of baking at 450*. That being said, the bread turned out perfectly. I'm ready to try the English muffins next! Great recipe.

It is easy and comes out perfect every time. Thanks for your video!
Thank you so much for showing me to make home made bread. Loved it and it did come out perfect. You were so right. Love it so much, I watch all your videos, And I was blown away, thank you so much
This really is the best bread ever. My family including my autistic son who never ate my bread is gobbling it up. I have to make it daily. It is so easy so no problem! Thanks so much
no offense, really....but why is that nearly every parent MUST TELL the world about their autistic child. read your statement, it yields nothing to the love of the bread. my family, including my son, who.... much better. how would you feel if your parent always says...this is my autistic son...
Love, love, love this recipe. The bread is so good and it "does look like I know what I am doing!" Plus it gives me a reason to use my cast-iron dutch oven. Just made my second batch served with butter and homemade potato soup during our snow day in April here in Ohio! Thanks for sharing!
You are an amazing person. Thank you. I do not live on a farm homestead, but I do live in a very small village in rural southwest Nebraska. Know all about “home cooking”. Just wanted to acknowledge your superior baking skills. Wishing your family all the best. 😊
I would also be interested to see other versions of this recipe and how you go about it that you briefly mentioned in the video. Keep up the good work! Blessings from Texas!
Bigs thanks From Australia for a geat recipe. I finally used my dutch oven! The bread is amazing! I will definitely be making it again. I even tookm care of the chickens and did some gardening while it was rising. Well worth the wait.
When I was younger we had several goats and we milked ours. My late husband built a stand to milk them. My boys loved having the animals and loved the milk. I'm 58 now and I miss those days.
I know how you feel. I miss liveing in the country and my dairy goats. They give the best milk. There is nothing like fresh goat milk. I have to live in town now, I could not take care of the goats now. Have RA. Don't get around so well. I really miss the milk and eggs, not even close to what we get from the store. I really mi ss all that and those days.
Dude, you’re sailing your self short. You did a great job on the bread! Good cooking/baking isn’t rocket science. You just did it right. Simple and sweet.
I found Jenny's recipe a few days ago and have baked several loaves. They all came out great! I agree with Bogeyman, Jenny deserves to be acknowledged.

I love the way you work as a team to get dinner on the table.
What a beautiful farm and such great care of the animals God bless ❤
Aleena Aksoy great care of the animals lol, they are going to be eaten.
Change the word "apex" to "annoying" and I may listen to what you say. Nothing makes a side of veggies taste better than a piece of a dead animal on my plate.
What a beautiful family, God bless you all 🙏🙏🙏
Sending you much love from Belgrade, Serbia❤❤❤
Thank you so much!

LadyDewinter, Your husband is proud of you!
Beef stew from scratch meaning you stabbed the animal in the throat yourself?
@@thomaskeets3194 Awww thank you so much Thomas.
@@meatgoggles8149 No it was already dead and hanging around Krogers waiting for me to come get it and cook it up.
Love it when you show your animals
Making my first load of this bread today! I added fresh rosemary and dill from my garden, along with some garlic powder, and plan to serve it with a broccoli cheese soup I’ll be making for dinner.
Looks fabulous and is SO much easier than my sourdough!
A great holesome show these are the kind of shows famlies should be watching good for the sole.
Our son dropped in unexpectedly on Sunday and much to my husband's dismay after tasting both asked if he could take what was then left ( very little)
with him of course mum said yes.
Back to Kevin's recipe for mum then.
We were planning on having a farmhouse beef stew loaded with fresh beef
( we live in Scotland and when we say we cooked with Aberdeen Angus fresh beef we really mean fresh) and fresh picked root vegetables from garden .
I would normally serve this with Australian cobbler pastry recipe
( similar to the American biscuits and savory Scottish pancakes but this totally wipes the floor of both above mentioned toppings for any gravy based dish).
I have followed your bread recipe, and it always turns out great!.Thank You. You guys are the best!.This is my fith time preparing it.
Great tip. Thank you!
Yummmm.
thanks for posting this comment. I appreciate your sharing your experience with this recipe.
Waa
I have used this bread recipe many times with great success. Just a tip, I crumble paper into a ball then straighten out[easier to put in bowl, and I fold after use and use again)
The paper tip, BOOM! I've been making many different kinds of no knead breads, in many ways, for many years. I have found some great tips but that's the best one I've seen in a LONG time! Thanks Ivan!
Hi dear friend ! I like it no knead bread . Thanks for sharing your recipe . 👍Have a good midweek..
May Yeshua bless you and your family and farm. Thank you for everything..🤗
Prepared Brad I went out and bought a new Dutch oven just to make this bread. 🤣😂. My old one was to small.
BoboChacha Ho as long as it’s able to be in the oven at 450 degrees. You don’t want any handles melting etc.
i dont have dutch oven but do have cast iron skillet and covered casserole dishes. gluten inflames joints so i dont get much bread. gonna attempt this recipe.
I don't have a dutch oven and I baked it into a pan and covered it with double foil.
hello...I'm 63 and started bread making with my grandchildren ages 5 to 14..did they love it I was amazed..they got a kick out of rising dough...and play dough texture...I made it a class in homeschooling my 2 grandchildren....
The soup, bread and the family are impressive.... I want to live with you. 😎
Maybe Missouri is a good option to go and settle down. I love the countryside! It was a pleasure to watch the goats. It calls my attention that they don´t have dogs and cats too. I would have loved to see more animals.
IKR?!? Will you adopt me please?
I love this channel. The best of both worlds. Animals and country and good home cooking!

I'm DEFINITELY making this today. It's supposed to get in the -40's today so nice home made bread will be lovely...and it will make the house smell great! I think I'll get hubby to make some chili to go with it! Thanks, Kevin for the great idea for a cold winter day!!
You will enjoy this recipe for sure! Stay Warm!
It’s a great bread so I’ve heard. May have to try it gluten free, just never trust the gluten free way. But smells great when baking. I like to share with those that don’t bake!
artist45 : Tonight, We are also having a loaf with chicken & rice soup...lol
@@LivingTraditionsHomestead The bread was a success yesterday. So easy to make and much more dense than I thought it would be. It was a very heavy loaf :) Great taste, though!
I love your farming life. You remind me about my grandmother. She cooked and hand made everything organic from her garden. It is such a wonderful life. Thank you for your sharing.
My favourite bread recipe! I let mine rise over night and usually add some freshly chopped garlic and rosemary, so delicious either way!

I love this bread. I like to use add-ins. Garlic rosemary for spaghetti night, jalapeno cheddar with chili, cranberry orange for breakfast toast. (Though I think plain with the cranberry sauce Sarah canned would be amazing.)
Yum!
Jamye Dowell the orange cranberry sounds delicious. Do you mind sharing how to make it? Thank you 🤗

Nothing better than fresh home made bread, homemade soup and some real butter on that bread. YUM.
I just made the bread for breakfast this morning! Best bread I’ve ever made! 😃 It was a hit! I combined the ingredients last night and let it rise overnight and finished it off this morning. This will be my go to recipe from now one. Thank you for sharing it ❤️🙏🏻
I love to see a man cooking at home. I'm definitely trying your recipe. Warm crusty bread with butter..YUM.
I, too, love to see a man in the kitchen cooking or baking. The only thing I noticed was that an apron wasn't utilized.
Cindybin2001 - Carbohydrates are also found in foods like fruits, vegetables, and dairy products, not jut bread and pasta, Carbohydrates provide the body with the energy it needs and are a good source of many vitamins and minerals. For me, a balanced diet is most important, and I do not exclude any food group.
Nice lynda .. i can cook too
Linda Cummings I’d love to see a woman cooking at home cooking.
Hands down best tasting & easiest bread ever! Thank you for sharing!
thank you for this simple easy recipe..I have made it about 6 times and it always comes out perfectly....in this day and age of ''panic buying' and hoarding of bread and other supplies, this recipe is heaven sent...don't have to rush out to the store and try and find bread...its right at your fingertips...thank you again...keep up the good work...love the show...
Compared with Jenny Can Cook No Knead Artisan Bread, results identical! Thanks for sharing!
Yup same recipe, she posted hers 6 yrs ago
I thought I was having a déjà-vu moment! 🤣 I prefer Jenny’s presentation to tell the truth but you know, at first, we all copy & learn someone’s else’s ways until we mold and perfect our own!
Yep, Jenny the boss
I was disgusted that these copy cats didn't give credit to whom its due and presented it as if it was originally their recipe. Stolen recipe, stolen technique... pathetic Kevin.
@@p_q1314 this recipe is as old as the hills. Jenny didn't invent it. No theft involved. Get real.
A few other comments already on this video. Been making bread + for about 50 years. Saw a RUclips video and the chap was stirring with the handle end of his wooden spoon so i tried that method WOW. Now I make this recipe and have a “handle” in (not on :-)..it..
I have made your bread for over six months. Amazing recipe. I am 85 & live in the uk. I make a granary cob by mixing the flours. Thank you so much.

How precious.

Love, love, love this recipe. The bread is so good and it "does look like I know what I am doing!" Plus it gives me a reason to use my cast-iron dutch oven. Just made my second batch served with butter and homemade potato soup during our snow day in April here in Ohio! Thanks for sharing!
