@@HeartwayFarms well tried it ,I will definitely make it again , did I mention soon . Definitely my type of bread . Thank you for taking all the guess work out of the steps .
I add a few pieces of crushed ice to my Dutch oven, under the parchment, when I put the bread in and it gets a crusty skin without having to remove the lid and baking extra time. It just saves that one step.
I have made this bread 2 days in a row now and my husband and I are both totally obsessed with it.I have never cooked bread in a Dutch oven and it's amazing, thank you for all of the great videos
There is nothing like homemade bread. I love that you said to make a loaf for you and one for a friend. There is something about bringing a warm loaf of homemade bread to a friend or neighbor. I love sharing my homemade bread whether it’s my crusty bread or my sourdough recipe. Can’t wait to try this crusty bread as it’s slightly different from mine.
What size is your Dutch oven? Looks to me its 5 quarts, but I may be wrong. I’m impressed how fast you answered my last question about freezing this bread. I have asked other people about their recipes and have never gotten an answer. Thank you
Lol! Last week I made this bread and did refer to 2 videos. It did come out delicious and is my new go to for bread. Thank you for the one clear video! Love what your family is doing on your farm!
I just made this today for my wife and my brother to go with a long-simmering chicken soup, and it was perfect! The crust was perfect, the crumb was perfect. I had some leftover honey butter from Christmas cornbread, and it was, well, perfect! Thank you, thank you! I never thought such a no-fuss bread recipe would give me such wonderful results, but it surely did!
I can’t explain how good this recipe is. I have made this recipe multiple times and shared it with my father-in-law. Who is a great Cooke and he said to me where did you get this? I told him I got it from you and he is hooked and it’s very addicting. Kudos to you and the family and I will continue to watch a Videos and learn a lot more because you taught me how to make artisan bread for the first time in my life.
Hello Heartway Farms! I just have to say I made this recipe for Thanksgiving and Christmas 4 loaves at a time! Went out and bought 2 small lodge dutch ovens at Wal-Mart, very inexpensive, had 4 bowls lined up on my counter with the ingredients mixed up all at once, covered them, let them rise, heated the 2 dutch ovens together in my oven, they fit perfectly in my oven, baked the first loaves. As soon as I lifted them out of the pots I put the second batch of loaves in. This recipe is AMAZING!!!! NEVER FAILS! IS DELICIOUS! And everyone wants the recipe! So tasty and chewy! I always use king arthur bread flour!!
Thanks for the receipt, making my third batch this morning. Added fresh garlic and rosemary. Next I’m trying my hand at sourdough. Love the taste and crunch of this bread.
Wonderful! We are so happy that you were successful and your family enjoyed it! Blessings and keep up the great work!! You should try the apple crepe cake. :) ruclips.net/video/ddNHnnAVO48/видео.htmlsi=6cvl6MdxEJ6C0Njt

Brilliant, thank you for redoing this recipe. I watched the previous one and realised that you must have edited a step out. I just thrifted an old crock pot crock and lid, so will be using that as my Dutch oven. I’m so inspired by your videos. We just constructed a second hand glasshouse, so I’m looking forward to starting my own seedlings and having hothouse tomatoes. I made tomato sauce last year and am preparing to do lots of canning this summer. We call it bottling in New Zealand 🇳🇿. Thanks again.
Awesome, Catherine. Sometimes when you're used to making a recipe you forget some of the small details and that's exactly what I did with my original video. So, hopefully now all the details are there:) Good find with the Dutch oven. ☺️

Thank you, thank you! Sometimes I just want a crusty artisan style bread to go with a pot of soup, but soft breads won't do, or sourdough will just take too long. I made this with bread flour and regular yeast (just woke the yeast with the honey and water early). Was worried those changes might ruin the bread somehow, but it was perfection. Absolutely wonderful and so simple! This is sure to be a regular part of our family dinners from here on!

What a great video. Every step was so well explained. I'm new to bread making and have been watching a ton of videos in the past twoweeks. What strikes me is the huge difference in rising times which range from zero to 24 hours. Most of the time people claim the dough has doubled in size. Can anyone explain to me the difference a longer rising time would make? What if I let the dough in this recipe rise for 12 hours? Just curious 😄
We find that this particular loaf of bread performs best with a 3-hour rise time. You can let it rise overnight however it does not bake as beautifully :-)
