i just love the antagonists from each movie were considered as some sort of freaks in their community. Frost was not a pure blood, a wannabe with huge god complex; Nomak was a mutant, rejected son; and Drake was the prototype, the ultimate outcast that disdained the current vampiricism. None of them actually was the typical vampire that Blade decimated on a daily basis. Hence they all respected Blade in some way for that he was a freak himself, the daywalker. I cannot help but think they identified themselves with him to some extent. That's some brilliant screenwriting.
They have covered everything basically.
Frost - he despised the system where hierarchy was based on birthright. No matter how much he contributed to the vampire society, no matter how much influential he was, he still had to bow down to purebloods. And he never would attain their hierarchy level. That's why he wanted to destroy this system and becoming a BloodGod was somehow supposed to help him. He respected Blade because Blade did challenge the vampire society and battled it openly alone, meanwhile Frost was fighting it from the shadows.
Nomak - Nomak was a mutant vampire and he was rejected because he was basically a walking disease which was exceptionally harmful to both human and vampire society. He respected Blade, because they were the same in terms of being rejected. Blade was rejected by vampire society and would be rejected and hated by human society as well. They both basically had no place in the world.
Drake - he did respect Blade because he was a warrior. Drake lived for thousands of years and lived by sword and honor. Blade does the same and that's why Drake respects him and accepts him.
Overall, all villians are well written along with their motives which are clean. They appear powerhungry, but as the story goes on, you see that there is more than meets the eye.

Love how there was a struggle for the gun out of fear, shock, and confusion, but Blade pulled that shit out immediately. Def shows a difference in their experiences w killing Vampires. Blade LIVES for this

Also you must have missed the part of honor and swords. Did you see that Drake had no blade? This was one of my favorite sequences in the movie, the action, the music, I thought it was really cool. I also liked how Drake tested Blade in this scene, to see how strong he is, how intelligent he is, he gives him a chase, see if he can keep up, and he kind of did like how ancient warriors would meet and have words and give terms before battle. Excellent scene.
What interesting is what this scene implies .. Drake mentions living by the sword.. fighting with honor, all the signs of a warrior much like Blade in his own ways. WHO /WHAT Could Drake have been sword fighting with 6,000 years ago? A vampire of his level would not need to bother sword fighting mortals.
Or was he once a mortal warrior that attracted the attention of something else that then turned him into the first vampire? maybe some type of ancient god or demon?
Edit: After reviewing the lore .. it's said he was born this way .. which either means he was born as he is in the movie .. or reborn through some ritual with the blood god mentioned in the last movie it is unknown. But if he was born a Sumerian, according to their religion and history its implied that their gods walked the earth with them.. so perhaps that's who he fought or fought for.

@@filds1 wrong lore, and it's implied they found him in a 6,000-year-old crypt .. meaning he would have been sleeping during the time of Vlad the Impaler I believe. Since a lot of the Blades vampire lore was stolen for World of Darkness or Vampire the Masquerade. I think they would be trying to get Drake closer associated with Cain. Oddly enough though in this movie Blades color scheme was clearly inspired by bram stoker's Dracula black and red cape

Drake was born from the blood god LA MAGRA. During the age of the Old Gods. Such as the ones we've seen in the MCUs Moon Knight and caught a climbs of in Thor love and thunder.
So it seems I was right, Drake likely was a worrier for the Blood God, or his own avatar.
So what likely happen was that Drake along with his first generation of vampires where soldiers fighting the other gods and thier avatars or creations.
Watching this as an adult I can't help but feel sorry for the poor soul who is going to come back to find that their mercedes got doubled dicked down.
Drake pulled off a huge force scream in this scene.
My favorite thing about Blade Trinity is that Blade never saw Dracula as anything other than just another vampire.

Drake may not be technically immortal, but the guy's been around since ancient Sumeria. That makes him the closest thing to it Blade's ever seen. Although... it could be argued that La Magra was an actual god/deity that possessed Deacon Frost, and not just Frost hopped up on vampire essence.

I always thought that was intentional by Goyer.
For him humans are like vermin. He doesn't care more about humans than humans do about rodents or cattle.

What Ive always found so fascinating about Blade trilogy is that all three villains in the series have some amount of respect for our hero blade.
Because they like how dedicated he is, he never gives up.
I noticed this with Nomak and especially Drake but I never noticed it with Deacon/frost/the blood god.

This movie really is underappreciated...i mean its not on the level of amazing and classic like the first two movies but its still really solid and has some amazing moments like this scene with Drake and Blade talking at the end. Theres a level of respect between them even as powerful as Drake is made out to be(one my biggest complaints is him being underpowered though) he still accepts that he could be the one to fall to Blade instead of Vice Versa... even with the problems behind the scenes i still love Wesley as Blade in this one too, he effortlessly embodies Blade like very few actors ever have with a superhero.. damn i miss the 90s and stretched to 2002 when Wesley was releasing a movie or several movie damn near every year

He does have superhuman speed. Right before the chase, he dodges a bullet, dashes across the room, and clutches Reynolds by the throat before anybody can fire at him again.
What Wesley Snipes made of Blade on movies is the same what Hugh Jackman made of Wolverine. Nobody can play them the way they did!
