5 Things I HATE about my Ferrari 458 Spider!

- Having owned our Ferrari 458 Spider for nearly two years, here are my Top 5 things I Dislike about the 458 Spider (Hate being too strong a word with such a beautiful car)!
Having now owned our Ferrari 458 Spider for coming up to 2 years (1 year, 9 months), I have a lot of experience of the 458 in many differing driving conditions. My son asked me, so what are your five most Disliked things about the car?….Hmmm….I had a think and when it came down to it the top five was really difficult to put together, well, apart from the first item!

Hi Rich, I would add the constant dashboard rattles, the roof that can’t be used while moving except with a mod, the battery that goes flat as you look at it, the heat/ air con system that is either nothing or a hurricane and the hopeless window wipers. However what I dislike most about a 458 is the “look at me” factor, the anxiety of where to park it and the trauma of adding miles to your car. That’s why I dumped mine (and all Ferraris) and bought a Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0. A modern car with an old world spirit - normally aspirated 4L flat 6. Works perfectly, sounds great, more than enough power. Size much more usable on country roads; can park it anywhere and yes, my wife loves it too. We just did a glorious 1500 mile trip around Ireland with the roof down and I don’t care about the miles at all. Oh yes, and I put 70k back in my account on selling the 458. Don’t regret it for a nano-second.
Totally understandable Chris, I’ve I’ve covered off many if not all those other items in other videos. The mileage sensitivity is a royal pain and unfortunately exists with all of the nice Supercars.

Oh my goodness you have such a great sense of humour “hurricane” air conditioning was the best. Yes I just sold my 430 for exactly same reason and brought a gt4rs Porsche and can park without even a second glance from anyone love not worrying too
I'm up to 15k on mine and haven't worried at all about mileage. It is also still worth what I paid for it.
That said, the Boxster is a lovely car. Congrats and enjoy.

The throttle action is one of the things that makes this car electrifying to drive !
Can't believe you have to get the screwdriver out to adjust the height of the seat!
Yes, only relates to the carbon race seats not the electrically controlled comfort seats.
I would love that feature, its not like you want to change the seat adjustment 5 times a day if you want heavy electric junk seats then you should buy a expensive lame suv or some other type of slughish luxury cars
I've caught myself driving down the road at length like a knob with the indicators on because they are hard to see and impossible to hear. I also hate the horn buttons on the steering wheel rim because I accidentally activate the horn on occasion with hard turning.
Love your content especially the hot list items when buying a 458 . Complaints about the 458 Italia versus Speciale....Is like comparing a hot stripper to now wanting her to be a wife that lives in a house, cooks, laundry and iron your shirts...😮

I have the same problem as you, I don't like the front part of the bumper, so I replaced it with a bumper from Prior Design. My opinion is that the car looks much more aggressive with the new bumper, although it spoils the number plate.
Cool that you have made the leap to change the front. Irrespective of the look I would still keep mine standard.
Hi Rich, have you covered the cold start smoke issue with the 458 ? I would be keen to hear your experience of this as I think all 458's can have an issue with this.
I use an Invery 100 as a result of one of your previous videos and it's a game changer -thanks. Only issue is that every time I turn the key the system defaults back to the radio source and I just hear hiss. I hit the mute button, start the car and then it's back to hiss again. To get back to ipod you need to navigate through the nightmare screens. Drives me mad. Do you have the same problem Rich? Am I doing something wrong?
Unfortunately yes this is by design.
I find it fairly quick though to switch on the entertainment system, select the main home menu and then select Media / iPod Tab.
race seats do not have any type of adjustments for a reason. If you wanted to adjust your seats more, then you would've been better off with Daytona seats.
That doesn’t make sense.
I have almost identical car as yours except the seats and the roso scuderia color, I never turn the music on never use the navigation because I like how the engine sounds and I don't care about the seat bolster, take it easy man, and enjoy the ride, stop being picky on every small detail because there is NO perfect car, at least this one has the look and the sound and the speed.

@@RichReviews_ I know you are careful posting moderate content because you don’t want to upset Ferrari, my surprise was how you didn’t mention the sticky bottons which annoys almost every Ferrari owner.

I am considering buying a 2015 458 Spider...its doesn't have a reverse camera. Can you recommend any companies that do a reverse camera install on this car?
I believe Ferrari dealerships will now retrofit the camera without the need to replace the rear bumper, as was previously the case.
Don’t forget the standard 458 is faster top end than the speciale, really prises them toff drivers off down hanger straight at Silverstone !!!!
I think it is negligible when taking into account the weight loss in the Speciale and of course ensuring comparisons are made between Speciale coupe and Italia and Spider with Apart.

Am I the only individual in this world whining about those yellow warningsigns disturbing the peace in my mind? What am I to be warned about? Life is dangerous? Can they be removed? Is it illegal to remove them? If so, what idiot thinks it's a good thing to assume the consumer is a tiny child?
What is so beautiful about carbonfiber? Luxuryseats for the win. I wonder what those racingseats are like sitting in. Uncomfortable? There should be other seats in the car, with easy tweaking.
Which yellow warning signs?
The carbon race seats are actually very comfortable.
@@RichReviews_ Good that they are comfy. The the yellow unwelcome stickers. I think those one windshieldshades are sewn on to the shades. I hope not. They disturb the look and ruin tranquility.
Do you know if the Satnav and Entertainment system issues have the same issue in the 488? TIA
Yes I believe so...slightly different interface but same weaknesses...awful user interface!
