Tom Poopstain Looks and sounds way worse than the 458. If I had to choose between the 458 Speciale Aperta or the 488 GTB Spider it would be the Speciale for me..
I've personally rented a 458 spyder out in the UAE twice, driving for 2-3 days each time and I find the car brilliant. The craftsmanship, the leather, the exhaust note and the driving experience in general are more than great! None of the things Parker points out bothered me. I think that out of all the supercars I have owned and driven I would place the 458 Spyder in the top 3 easily.
@@stealth1384 No problem. As long as I can remember it was in the neighborhood of $2400 for 3 days. The longer you rent the car, the better daily rate you get.
LOL... i had a datsun 280 zx in high school. I now have multiple exotics and muscle cars. One being the 458. I figured you only go around once in life, so i became a doc. and made one very smart investment on top of it. You can go from Datsun to whatever your heart desires. It's how bad do you really want it?!
Derryl Ang Kai Jun lmao!! Don’t know where to buy one! 😂😂😂 I’ve actually had the pleasure of sitting in one! Felt like I was in a video game! Very nice car! Truly in a class of its own!! I mean it’s been almost a decade that this look hasn’t changed yet!! I love the way this car looks! It’s insane!!
I've had them both and I prefer column mounted shifter paddles to the steering wheel mounted paddles. If you shuffle steer paddle shifters aren't good. Also, you should't be shifting gears while being hand-over-hand deep in a turn in the first place.
Hold the Back/View button for the big speedo (3rd button on the right set of infotainment controls). It changes the entire right screen to a huge speedo
Gmanmovies09 there is a camera in the later models but not in the earlier ones like this car and for a car like this i totally love this thing but there should be sensors atleast
that's (the only reason) why the 458 (italia) would not be my first choice. here in 2023, my first choice would be a manual 992 GT3. i'd even roll with a manual C5 or C7 Z06 (as a daily) before the 458. that being said, the 458 italia is the sexiest car ever built. i've never owned an automatic, so... i'm very much locked into manual transmissions.
1. It accelerates too quickly. 2. The paddles are "too small" or something. 3. The horn should be in the center of steering wheel. 4. If you're legally blind you can't see the speedo. 5. Its options are over priced. Sounds like you made this shit up for the sake of making this video. I doubt any of that stuff actually bothered you while driving. It's some pretty petty stuff. FERRARI FTW!
1. that is how a car throttle pedal is SUPPOSED to work (not as you described with an amount of freeplay slack) 2. your hands are too BIG 3. many cars don't have a centrally operated Horn because of airbags, Ferrari speedos have always been traditionally smaller than the tacho gauge 4. the extra weight and less structual rigidity cannot be felt, Spider (retractable roof) cars have ALWAYS had the engine hidden traditionally 5. The price of exotic car ownership, most "real" owners actually love this about their cars.
I HATE paddles that are mounted to the wheel. Just imagine if an old column mounted manual shifter MOVED with the wheel! I want my shifter to be in the same place for muscle memory consistency, period. If you're down shifting your wheel should be mostly straight, and if you're up shifting then using your left hand only on the wheel turning while reaching for an upshift with your right hand should be second nature for anyone who's used to a left-hand drive manual car...
Reason why the paddles are on the column and no the wheel is because anytime you go into a turn you supposed to have all shifting done before the turn so if you shifting in the middle of the turn like you explained then you're doing it wrong and should probably get a Prius instead!
But wait, little confused about point #2. I raced one of these at ExoticsRacing on the track. I didn't notice the paddle problem being mounted on the column, because aren't you not supposed to shift in a turn that dramatic anyway??
If you're driving hard, and you're turning, you're supposed to be in the gear you're supposed to prior to the turn anyway. My 02 Kia Spectra also have the horns located on buttons and not the center of the wheels.
reply without even watching the vid: HOW CAN YOU HATE THE 458 #$%#!!!! EDIT: lol you got me i thought you were serious. Wait.. after the first point i thought this was an april fools thing. Now i'm confused...
I drove the 458 at Exotics Racing in vegas and I didn't have any trouble shifting with the paddles fixed to the column. I have a Subaru Legacy and I get confused with the paddles when I'm turning. (my hands don't stay on the wheel in sharper turns).
Stop hating on Parker haters. If you hate his videos, then don't watch them, it's that simple. Parker's content is amazing and doesn't deserve dislikes!
This video has 100,000 more views than the review of the same car by VV that is actually telling us that he likes the car. Does this mean that most people are drawn to negative content and videos than positive content?
I have a Honda prelude and the horn is not in the Center but has 2 smaller buttons to the left and the right and yes it can definitely be a problem in an emergency situation.
Bro Thankyou for all your great content. I Watch every video. Very glad you're doing reviews! :) I like all of them, affordable, expensive and everything in between..
1999 Honda Civic horn the same. I hate small cars and have little experience in sports cars but hope they have almost as much driver room as full size sedans.
Stephen Frederick no shit? i have a third gen camaro aswell.. same year as well exept i got the RS which is 3.1L v6. its a head turner for sure you dont see them around at all
The whole selling point of mid engine Ferraris is that they're race cars for the street. Some compromises are going to be made. And the paddle shifters should ALWAYS be on the column.
Graham 525 if your a car guy you drive a 6 speed manual..... I understand that they do the auto trans because if they did a manual the clutch would be heavy but they need to make manuals an option for real drivers...
Hey Parker, Im loving the videos, really great and explicative reviews, let the haters hate keep up and let your work shut their mouth. Cheer from México! BTW i wouldn´t mind at all have all the issues that you describe in that ferrari LOL!
2 and 3 are non issues, why would you be changing gear mid corner? Paddles fixed to to column is the correct position, they are extended so you can change gear on a gentle curve but on a tight lock corner you really shouldn’t be changing gear, it unsettles the car. You should be in the correct gear for the corner before you get to it. As for the horn, if it’s an emergency then take avoiding action rather than worrying about the horn, other than if someone is reversing into you, why is the horn needed? Plenty of cars have the horn in places other than the centre of the steering wheel
Not trying to bash on this guy but having experience with a 458 I disagree with most of what he said. First the throttle response issues he claims, who wouldn’t want a sharp throttle response in a Ferrari? That can be corrected by simply rolling on the throttle instead of “chopping” it. Second the paddle shifters anyone who knows how to properly drive a car like this knows that you should never shift in a turn thats why Ferrari places them fixed in the steering column. Third the horn at ten and two, again proper hand position should be 8-3 completely out of the way. The speedo can be enlarged on the screen but this is just my two sense
Where does it infer that this is an April Fools joke (as so many people are commenting?)... Am I missing something? All he's doing is pointing out 5 (very) minor gripes about an epic car (which he clearly states)... They're all valid annoyances, and I'm sure he'd be the first to admit that the 458 is a car anyone would be THRILLED to own! Keep up the good work VV's!
It’s kind of funny. I have an Aprilia Motorcycle. And they decided to put the horn button in a non standard place on that one too. It’s literally dangerous. Well... it was. I replaced the whole left hand switch assembly with a standard switch assembly so I now have my horn situated where my thumb automatically reaches for it... like on all of my other motorcycles! I don’t claim to be smarter than them BUT.....
The paddles are column mounted almost primarily because you're not supposed to be shifting mid-turn. That's a bad driving habit as it can upset the car.
About speedometer display you are wrong when you said it's not visible because reading is too small we can select speed display wether on left and right taking the whole screen and becomes very visible then
Hmmmm yea try doing that 2-5 more times and having your points slowly accumulate over the 20 range of your driver's license = you won't be driving for a another 3-5 years...yea nice try but that would be a big waste of time of your life without driving.
Well, I get your points. Ferrari imports their racing legacy into the cars sold to consumers, so yes, the tach is front and center, the throttle is sensitive, the horn is out of the way, ever seen an F1 car with a glass cowl over the engine? You get my point.
For number two, the paddles are where they are supposed to be. If you're trying to change gears in the middle of a turn, you need to learn how to drive
You were definitely the kid that complained when you lost in T-Ball and they had to start giving out second place trophies.

Totally agree, Tom Poopstain. love for the 488

Actually pro racers do not shift gears while turning
Yeah you shouldn't be shifting if you're turning the wheel far enough to be off the paddles.
Gutierrez Rodrigues dos Reis that’s rubbish ever seen F1? The shift up coming or if corners all the time
Lol
Not true. This paddle placement really annoys me on the track

something huge that's fun is missing at any price:
a clutch pedal and the seven-speed manual transmission that goes along with it.

All is he was saying is that the shifters could have been better & more conveniently placed?
Panda....have you driven it?
Why tf do all y'all have the same picture
The speedometer can be on the right and in very large font. You just had it programmed differently.
I learned to drive in a 1983 Ford LTD wagon. The horn was located on the turn signal stalk. You pushed the stalk in towards the column.
I feel ya I've been in an aventador, done burnouts, donuts and never been scared in a car, until I took a ride in a 458 spider
