      I know! I’ve been waiting for these to drop since I’ve owned my ‘08 GX470 since new, and I never liked the styling or the sluggishness / mass of the GX460’s since they weighed so much more than the 470 model with almost no extra power. This one with all that torque should be excellent, and the whole package is so much more appealing!

      In the near future when you guys have one in your facility you need to put it against the Defender into a extremely annoying hard course to see which is better.

    The $81,000 price tag you guys spoke about was for the Overtrail +. The extra $8,000 for the plus gives you those massaging seats, and a few other niceties, but I would rather spend that money on improving off road performance with after market accessories. The standard GX-550 Overtrail has a Base MSRP of $67,900. When I configured that model with Atomic Silver & Black Onyx $350, Wireless Charger $75, Cool Box $170, No Moonroof -$1100, Black Emblem Overlays $199, Roof Rack $1580, Rock Rails $990, All-Weather Cargo mat $150, ARB Twin Portable Compressor $990 and the Delivery-Processing & Handling fee of $1350, it came out to a Total of $72,654. I placed a $1000 deposit with my local Lexus dealer to get on the list for an Overtrail. I'm number 18 on the list, but number 3 for the Overtrail model. If the dealer receives something close the model I described above, I'll snatch it up and never look back!

    • @Superdada
      @Superdada 5 месяцев назад +2

      Yep agree with you.
      BTW, I also placed a deposit with my dealer in June 15th for an Overtail but they seem in the dark about where I’m at in the list or how long the list is… etc.

      Do you know if Lexus dealers are screwing people over with surprise market adjustments and not honoring contracts such as Toyota dealers with all the desirable vehicles? I'm looking at this for next year as my first Toyota/Lexus vehicle. I'm in Texas if it matters.

    19:45 on the GX I’ve owned I immediately removed the low profile tires and replaced with off-road tires. What I found was that a low profile tires had too quick of a steering response and gave the vehicle and unstable feeling. The new off-road tires dulled that response and it felt perfect. • @CeeJay591
      @CeeJay591 5 месяцев назад +5

      Yeah, that’s a serious issue and it’s just one example of Toyota screwing around with the options on this new GX - the other is the E-KDSS, as it’s available on the Overtrail line only - the old GX had KDSS standard across the lineup and that helped body roll significantly, particularly on road, as with it you can use thicker sway bars to help the ride quality. Same with the ML sound system - this was available at much lower price points on the old GX.

    Have to disagree with Roman. I've seen a lot of 392 Wranglers and a few Bronco Raptors out on the trails. By the time those are built out they have $120K plus in them. There are definitely Lexus fans who are going to be lining up to go exploring in one of these. This is the same crowd that will drop a quarter mil on a 4X Sprinter van and take it out, bend things and scratch the crap out of it. They will pay for what they want.

    I'll be interested to see how big of a tire you can fit in that wheel well. While the rear diff locker is awesome, I need the 3rd row and may opt to go with their base model (Premium?) then add a lift and tires.

    I will stick with what I said in Ryans video from a couple days prior about this thing, it is interesting, but not worth trading in my 4R TRD OR. But if you are for some reason cross shopping between this and the new 4R, I might consider this over the new 4R. Would have to do a deeper review when the new 4R comes out.

    This video shows the overt plus model, with more options, so the price is very high
    On the Lexus configurator, I was able to price the Overtrail with some essential options for $72,000

    4 runner Limited. dual zone AC/heating, individually controlled heated/cooled front seats, roll down rear hatch window, moon roof, locking center Dif,
    full time 4 wheel drive, 20 inch tires, A Track, premium sound system, 6 cylinder (proven to be super reliable) engine. I think I'll stay with the Limited
    4 runner. Does everything I need an SUV to do............

    if i had the money to replace/upgrade from my 2014 4Runner...
    1. this GX Overtrail...
    2. an LC200 Heritage model
    3. a newer 4Runner TRD Pro...
    that's it...that's the list.

  • @bluecruiser2019
    @bluecruiser2019 2 месяца назад

    Ya, my LC200 cost quite a bit more and yes it does go off road and is an amazing Overlander. Since we don’t get a real Land Cruiser here any longer I am looking at the GX550 to add to our fleet. It has its pluses and minuses, but once the aftermarket kicks in, it could be a great off roader. Looked at the Inios Granadier, that’s a complete non starter though🤷‍♂️. Anyhow, great video and looking forward to you getting to do a real test off road with it.

    I think the GX has the detuned 3.5l TTV6 that is in the Tundra SR (Work truck). The specs sound identical. Hopefully translates into the grade of reliability expected from outgoing 4.6V8 in the 460.

    I’m still on the fence with the long term durability of a TV6 vs the NA V8. I don’t see these getting to 200, 300k with the factory turbo.

  • @drsus0

    the GX will be able to take an aftermarket lift ( which 100% of opel that will off road this will do ) so it will have higher ground clearance AND ride nice while at that height...unlike an air suspension system at the highest setting that rides like welded suspension from the lack of travel by being at the limit of the travel all the way up.

    • @JollyGiant19
      @JollyGiant19 4 месяца назад +1

      Suspension lifts don’t get you ground clearance, especially on an IFS, bigger tires do

    • @drsus0
      @drsus0 4 месяца назад

      @@JollyGiant19 yes.. a suspension lift usually means you want bigger tires. chicken or the egg. Most times you can’t fit bigger tires without a lift .

    unlike the British competition; this one got a real locking center diff. and if you ever parked inclined near a cliff, you want a real center locking diff...
    in my region we have the 300 series land cruiser and the '24 70 series land cruiser and I am choosing the GX550 over both!

    I agree on the dash. I would go for the Lexus quality but here in Europe all rich people go for the Defender and use it as a city car. So they'll go for the 20+ inch wheels.
