45:06 "He Looks Like A Demon, But He Has The Heart And Mind Of A Saint" Interesting that you'd say that Jay, because in the comics, Nightcrawler is a devout Catholic and even entered the Catholic seminary
In the comics, the original class of X-Men consisted of Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Iceman, Beast and Angel. Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossians and a few others came into the team later.
Correct. Original X-men Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman and Angel went through issue 93. Then came the new X-men in Giant size 1 and joined the the run with issue 94 on. The new X-men added Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Warpath. Warpath only lasted 1 issue.

You've seen Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) before. She was in "Austin Powers, the spy who shagged me" as one of the models in the photo shoot, in which Austin says".. and I'm spent"
In the trilogy films, mystique is played by Rebecca Romain Stamos! In the later films you’ll encounter, a younger version of mystique is played by Jennifer Lawrence.
X2 was based off of the X-Men graphic novel “God Loves, Man Kills” which is great. A big difference is that in the novel Stryker is a minister, not military.
The opening to this is one of most exciting comic book scenes you'll see. Kinetic directing. You'll see another terrific scene with a different hero when you get to 'Days of Future Past'.
Fun fact... When X2 was being produced, Fox had the idea to release an expanded version of the original film on DVD called "X-Men 1.5" with deleted scenes from the movie added back in and two new filmed scenes that were written for the first movie but never shot. The idea was to release it a few months before X2 to build hype for the sequel. The 2 new scenes would have told he origins of Storm and Cyclops, with Scott in the bathroom of his local high school during the prom. He's in the stall and his eyes are burning and one of his friends asks "How much weed did you smoke tonight?" and Scott says "None" and looks up as his eyes flare and he blows a hole through several walls into the dance auditorium. They built the set for it and just before they were about to film the scene, word came down from Fox that they were no longer going to produce the DVD and pulled the funding for the additional scenes and the re-edit. But the bathroom was already constructed, so they converted into the bathroom where Mystique injects the iron into the corrupt prison guard's blood. Originally, she would have just slipped the pills to him and then it is revealed that she injected him when Magneto extracts the iron from his blood. With the bathroom already created, they just wrote an additional sequence for it. Speaking of Cyclops, originally he was knocked out immediately by Lady Deathstrike, but James Marsden complained that the X-Men are supposed to have some sort of training, so he should be prepared to fight back. So they added the scene of him fighting the guards and it actually went on longer than what we saw in the movie. But the set was not built for a fight scene and every time they moved around on it, tiles that were glued down would pop out from the floor. Cyclops also had several additional scenes with Xavier in the movie where you discovered that they broke free and returned to the mansion where he finds all the students missing, except for a frightened girl... and then realized that it was all in Xavier's mind being controlled by Stryker's son and that is why they Xavier was trying to find all the mutants in Cerebro. A bunch of people high up at Fox thought the audience would be too stupid to realize what was happening, so they had the scenes removed. But they ARE on the deleted scenes if you have the DVD or Blu-Ray.
Yes, in the comics, Wolverine is 5'4", and had a chip on his shoulder about it. He was like a ball of rage and blades. There was an uproar when Hugh Jackman, who is over 6', was cast, but after the movie released, fans fell in love with his portrayal. After the upcoming "Deadpool and Wolverine" movie this year, he will have played that character for over 24yrs! That streak will never be beaten.
@@TahiriVeila13ABY Oh, there were voices, for sure. Maybe not in the broader pop culture scene, but among comics fans, there was definitely.. displeasure at the casting announcement. But after seeing him in action, even most hard-core fans were satisfied with his portrayal. There are still many comics fans who yearn to see a more accurately type-cast actor take on the role, i.e. someone 5'5" or less. Daniel Radcliffe's name has been bandied about. He's 5'5" and in quite good physical shape. He's shown remarkable range in his acting roles over the years; I bet he could pull it off! However, I don't know if general audiences would be on board to see 'Harry Potter' play a death-dealing berserker; they might just not want that dichotomy in their brains. Public perception can be a tricky thing. If not him, then who knows? Jackman had officially retired after "Logan," but has now come back for "Deadpool." I'm sure this is the last time. He's been such a beloved actor in this role, I guess it'll be a while before any producer even tries to fill his adamantium claws...
I love actors who can be, for lack of a better term, evil and then turn around and be a beloved character. Ian McKellan was both Magneto and Gandalf and the contrast couldn't be more beautiful.
The woman Wolverine was fighting is Lady Deathstrike her and logan have fought alot thru the comics she almost killed him a few times... watch Wolverine Origins to see his back story
Wolverine already had the claws and the healing factor before the Adamantium coating procedure...before that his claws were made from his bones, and they weren't as sharp and were better for stabbing, the Adamantium coating turned the claws into Adamantium blades..and yes...his healing factor is what made him to be chosen for the Adamantium coating procedure and allowed him to survive the procedure..
Kurt Wagner AKA Nightcrawler is my second favorite x-men. He was awesome in the comic books and this is by far the best portrayal and maybe only in live action

What's really cool about the X-men is that they were created as a way fore the writers to have a metaphor for different forms of discrimination people face. I feel like so far this movie showcases that the best with bobby's "coming out " to his parents and nightcrawler(my fav x-man) talking about people only seeing with there eyes. We'd have such a better world if we all saw beyond outside appearances and petty differences. I always saw that as the message.
When yall watch X3 The Last Stand, there is a post credit scene. If and when yall get into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, those movies also have post credit scenes. Some have mid credit scenes also. Some have more than one post credit scene. 😊
@@jeffreydavid6794 I remember reading that when Hugh Jackman was studying up on the character to do him justice, he wanted to make sure to get some "Bubs" in.
What you saw in the last shot is the Phoenix symbol rising out of the water, so when this was out in 2003, die-hard fans knew right away (spoiler alert) Jean was coming back The Phoenix is an entity that amplified Jean's powers in the comics so this had those fans super-excited for number three
Fun fact about Lady Deathstrike (Stryker's assistant): in the comics, she's not a mutant. She's a cyborg with a vendetta against Wolverine. Also, about Stryker's son Jason: in the comics, they are not related. Jason Wyngarde aka Mastermind was a villain in his own right and sometimes member of Magneto's Brotherhood. For story reasons, his background was changed. Third: the "mutant gene being passed from the father" thing Pyro spoke of is movie lore only. In the comics, either parent can pass on the x-gene. For example, Jean Grey's sister Sara (potentially a latent mutant) had 2 mutant children with her human husband. Mystique and Sabertooth (both mutants) had a non-mutant son. So the genetics isn't as predictable as Pyro made it seem.
Jason Stryker in this isn't Mastermind, he is who he is supposed to be, he first crops up in go loves man kills, which pretty much the basis of this film. They bring him back later on in the comics. So not mastermind two different characters
@pauwoo Jason Stryker's ability was to emit a blinding white light. The ability presented in the movie was Mastermind's illusion projection. 2 characters were combined. The background was changed to fit the movie.
@pauwoo in an attempt to not go too overboard with comic lore for people who haven't read the comics, I may have oversimplified...Mastermind's abilities; therefore, referred to as Mastermind in my original comment.
The more I rewatch this, the more I realize I love it for being The Mystique and Magneto Movie :) But every part is really good. Cyclops is definitely shafted with the amount of screen time he gets, but his angry denial at "she's gone" is really good from James Marsden IMO.

2:38, you guys should watch the animated series X-Men 97 it has some of the coolest action scenes for these characters and also goes deeper into their characters. Nightcrawler is a man of faith and an ordained priest. He is also often times the X-Men team medic and an expert swordsman. There is a great scene in which Wolverine and Nightcrawler are fighting back to back against a swarm of enemies. What makes this scene wild is that Nightcrawler is fighting with not just two swords but three (his tail is totally prehensile) while teleporting about.
Quick note. in the first movie, when they were doing the fight to stop the wave from getting to the shore, Jean got hit by the wave. She is a muutant but THAT wave triggered her phoenix abilities, not Cerebro.

Love y'all's reactions all day long! Quick note: Wolverine's mutant abilities are his healing factor as well as heightened sense of hearing, smell, physical prowess and endurance. The adamantium skeleton was a "gift" from Col. William Stryker.

Nightcrawler, Colossus and Storm were created by Dave Cockrum and Len Wein. I got to know Dave for a few years before he died too young. He hated that they made Night Crawler with tattoos all over his body. And that he was religious.

Interesting that you'd say that Jay, because in the comics, Nightcrawler is a devout Catholic and even entered the Catholic seminary
But if push comes to shove Kurt will pull a blade on a fool
@@technofilejr3401
Fools be lucky if Kurt brings one sword to a fight, since he's been known to double and triple-wield ⚔️.
@@StevenCosta-tp2sw They went from issue 1 to issue 66, 67 to 93 are reprints of some of the first 66 issues
I live on the island where “Xavier School” is. Hatley Castle. You can tour it in the late spring and summer. It’s used in Deadpool as well. It’s used it a bunch of movies, actually. Very cool inside.
YOU GOTTA SEE "VAN HELSING" WITH HUGH JACKMAN...EXCELLENT👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤❤❤❤
This is my favorite X-Men movie they've made so far
Yessss Storm has always been and will always be my favorite character. She’s an omega level mutant and legend 🥰🥰🥰
Kinda nerfed though. She's way too powerful.
"There was an uproar" lol... no there wasn't. X-Men fans were just thrilled that an actual live action big budget movie was being made.
@@TahiriVeila13ABY You may not have been on the early message boards at the time. I was and remember the fan complaints.
@@76063co2do you mean mutant/ superhero character? If not, Sylvester Stallone has played Rocky for over 40.
Wolverine had bone claws along with his healing factor and hightened senses. First movie explains his healing causes him to age slowly
Kurt Wagner AKA Nightcrawler is my second favorite x-men. He was awesome in the comic books and this is by far the best portrayal and maybe only in live action
Rebecca Romijn plays Mystique in these movies; she was also the beautiful blonde who fed beer to the guard and gave him a shot of iron. In the comics, Nightcrawler is Mystique's son. :)
How did they not know the blonde was her when she turns back to blue right in the bathroom iron scene
@@thedogwoods5716 She can look like anyone. They probably didn't realize that actress was the same actress who dresses up in blue.
I watched the cartoon before these came out it would help everyone to understand all the characters and who they are if they watched the cartoons ! Really can't wait till you two see the next one !
When Mystique played the woman, Grace, in the bar, that was what Rebecca Romijn looks like in real life.
Nightcrawler was one of my favorite X-Men back in the day when I was reading comings... he was such a fun character
Kurt (Nightcrawler) was raised by monks. He's one of my favorite characters!
I love Rebecca Romijn's Mystique!!!! She is ferocious, has some kind of garbo, very confident and proud of herself.
I realize you two never read their comic books, however 'old school' X-Men readers from waaaay back, know that Jean and Scott belong together. X-MEN #10 (1965), nuff said.
I always loved Scott and Emma but I think I am in the minority
@@kelly9876 That's fine, I had stopped reading their books by then, but I knew of it, meaning it was a thing at one time, but not how long their relationship lasted, was it before they brought back Jean from the dead (?) etc.
They did a great job casting each character for these roles. They are perfect, which makes a difference in how relatable it is.
Truly one of the best opening scenes in film history.
You guys are the best I love all your movies ❤️ and I love your reactions
Awesome reaction of my favorite X-Men movie!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
In the next movie, be sure to watch for a scene in the credits.
IDK how I haven't subscribed to you guys...You both are so heartwarming and funny and honest. So here is my middle finger and at least 2 thumbs up. Keep bringing that authenticity, and also, I think I'm drunk. I would like a mini burger. or 2.
I do enjoy that u put the movie as front and center in these reviews, and yourselsves in little tv screens in the corners... Well done
The woman in the bathroom with the security guard is mystique without the makeup
X:MEN: Days Of Future Past is dope as hell and arguably the best XMEN movie.
I liked when Wolverine called Striker "Bub" in this movie. He said Bub a lot in the animated show in the 90's.
@@jeffreydavid6794 I remember reading that when Hugh Jackman was studying up on the character to do him justice, he wanted to make sure to get some "Bubs" in.
@@NavvyMom haha that's great. Such a funny word.
What you saw in the last shot is the Phoenix symbol rising out of the water, so when this was out in 2003, die-hard fans knew right away (spoiler alert) Jean was coming back
The Phoenix is an entity that amplified Jean's powers in the comics so this had those fans super-excited for number three
Fun fact about Lady Deathstrike (Stryker's assistant): in the comics, she's not a mutant.
@@johna6352 so not mastermind
@pauwoo in an attempt to not go too overboard with comic lore for people who haven't read the comics, I may have oversimplified...Mastermind's abilities; therefore, referred to as Mastermind in my original comment.
The more I rewatch this, the more I realize I love it for being The Mystique and Magneto Movie :) But every part is really good.
Cyclops is definitely shafted with the amount of screen time he gets, but his angry denial at "she's gone" is really good from James Marsden IMO.
Stryker was part of the "weapon x program" to create super soldiers, he put a mental hypnotic suggestion in wolverines mind years ago
Watching this in the theater was SO fun! So many moments where the audience erupted into cheers (like Nightcrawler saving Rogue after she’s sucked out of the plane). This movie is such a blast.
So glad you guys like the X-Men series so far, I’ve seen all of them multiple times they just never get old and you almost always see something new. They’re just so creative and intricate, great job! So many of your questions will be answered if you just keep going with the series, lots of surprises, some heartbreak too…they’re just so human in the end, but yeah, I’m excited to see you do the rest !💚😎✨🕊
You should check out Anna Paquin in The Piano (for which she won Best Supporting Actor age 11, 2nd youngest person to ever win an Oscar). She's a phenomenal actress.
X-men origins is where you find everything out about Wolverine and what happened with striker. One of my favorite X-men movies even though it didn’t get much love.
Jean has turned into A Phoenix 🎉Love ❤️ 😍
2:38, you guys should watch the animated series X-Men 97 it has some of the coolest action scenes for these characters and also goes deeper into their characters. Nightcrawler is a man of faith and an ordained priest. He is also often times the X-Men team medic and an expert swordsman.
There is a great scene in which Wolverine and Nightcrawler are fighting back to back against a swarm of enemies. What makes this scene wild is that Nightcrawler is fighting with not just two swords but three (his tail is totally prehensile) while teleporting about.
21:25 Such a dope scene! I love that struggle of being good/bad. Pyro just saw them shoot Logan in the head so he acted
Nice!! Xmen is one of my favourites... Love your reactions big love from austria 🇦🇹
Quick note. in the first movie, when they were doing the fight to stop the wave from getting to the shore, Jean got hit by the wave. She is a muutant but THAT wave triggered her phoenix abilities, not Cerebro.
I really hope you guys watch the whole franchise. In release order for sure. Because I mean, you’ve got the original trilogy, the Wolverine movies, the prequel saga, and the Deadpool movies. This is one of my top favorite franchises. I can’t wait!!!! So excited for you guys to experience more of it.
Yall need to watch X-men origins of wolverine next
Damn, she said why did you stop him from killing those cops.😂😂😂
I’m so glad you two were enjoying the X-men series. I stopped what I was doing to watch this video. So happy to see you two love this movie. It’s my favorite of the X-men movies. Wait til you see Days of Future Past!
Patrick Stewart that plays Professor X great actor! You need to do the Star Trek movie's. Also he played a good character in movie Conspiracy theory starring Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts.
There are all so great films, and they build into an incredible story.
You guys are awesome! I just watched your viewing of 'The Others'. I saw it in the theatre and it was so fun reliving those 'jumps' through new eyes.
*I don't know if you guys would ever 'React' to a tv show - BUT *Interview With the Vampire'* TV show is awesome! It would give you so much to talk about! It's the best show on tv and about to blow up when it hits Netflix.
Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner)is a gentle soul. His mother is Mystique. Able to teleport. In Marvel Comics, the only people on par with him as far as gymnastic ability are the Beast, Spider-Man and Daredevil.
Thank you J and Amber for an invitation to hangout with you.
And thanks for the smile
✌️😊💕
So awesome!! I love that you guys are watching these :) 1-3 are good. The rest don't give off the same vibe haha
!!!!I can't wait to for you guys to watch (Wolverine Origins) so you know how he came to be!!!! On a side note you really like teleporting you should watch the movie (Jumper) I know you will like it.
Great reaction guys! Cant wait for you to see first class my fav..and will give you lot more background
X-men Origins Wolverine goes into Logan's past, hopefully you do that one next! Also I can't recall which movies have post-credit scenes, so don't forget to check for that so you don't miss out.
I enjoyed you guys reaction so much. Looks like y’all are hitting the gym!
FYI: in the comic book lore, Mystique is Kurt’s (night crawler)mother.
Brian Cox (Stryker) played William Wallace’s uncle who took him as a boy in Braveheart.
These X-men movies keep getting better so please continue this journey.
Love y'all's reactions all day long!
Quick note: Wolverine's mutant abilities are his healing factor as well as heightened sense of hearing, smell, physical prowess and endurance. The adamantium skeleton was a "gift" from Col. William Stryker.
After yall watch X3: The Last Stand; X-Men Origins: Wolverine should be the next one yall watch before the X-Men first class. Origins Wolverine will tell yall how he became the Wolverine as you see him now. All the X-Men movies are fire imo.
Nightcrawler, Colossus and Storm were created by Dave Cockrum and Len Wein. I got to know Dave for a few years before he died too young. He hated that they made Night Crawler with tattoos all over his body. And that he was religious.
That’s my favorite part
The religious aspect was added by Claremont in the comics before this movie
Exactly! Nightcrawler is very religious in the comics.
Time for X3 now!!!! Love your guys reactions and excited for your x men journey!!!
Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler) still has the greatest superhero introduction of all time
Rogue is an extremely underrated character in these films (although I understand if her abilities are still developing). She is considered one of the most powerful mutants since she can absorb and then recall other's powers (an ability she comes to master in the comics).
Nightcrawler aka Diablo, is one of my top Xmen of all time, with Jean Grey, Storm, Wolverine, Rogue... Gambit!
