Hi Greg, I enjoy teaching people how to fish, Its exciting getting the fish in the boat but I never worry about it getting off, if it does, oh well. That probably helps me stay calm. Its not about killing a fish, its about enjoying the time on the water. Thanks for watching and your comment
@@ChrisPfish2 hey chris, i'm an addict salmon fisherman out of ggb during june-oct, going out 2-3 times per week. i usually go by myself and always trying to be the very few boats at the fishing ground. lmk if you want to trade contact info for fishing intel. coastside aka "thaoman"
Awsome video Chris congrats on helping your buddy get his 2nd limit and the double hookup at the end was my all time favorite. Congrats again keep the videos coming!!!!
You can both keep fishing, it’s under “boat limits”. c) Boat limit. When two or more persons that are licensed or otherwise authorized to sport fish in ocean waters off California or in the San Francisco Bay District, defined in Section 27.00, are angling for finfish aboard a vessel in these waters, fishing by all authorized persons aboard may continue until boat limits of finfish are taken and possessed aboard the vessel as authorized under this section or Section 195, Title 14, CCR.
Okay, good info. Wonder why fish and game gave me bad info. I have heard boat limits are only allowed on "party boats". Since I post my footage I need to take extra precautions and when in doubt take the "safe approach". Thanks for the comment and watching the video!
@@chriswithfish if I were to bet, it would be your correct. Thing is none of it matters, dfg just doesnt want to see more then 2 salmon per person on the boat, they dont watch who catches. Since I film I have all these rules I have to think about and not break. Why I asked DFG, his answer was just avoid someone brining in more then two salmon and you wont have any issues. So he was just playing it safe as well probably.
Here is what you should do: if someone catches their limit, they’re done fishing. But you can still set two lines (in this case). If the fish hits the person’s rod who has limited out, the person who hasn’t caught their limit grabs the rod, and fights the fish. The other person clears the lines and nets the fish. That way both anglers can catch their limit without anyone catching any more than two.
@@ChrisPfish2 If it’s like Washington state’s rules, the boat limit only applies to our salt water fishing area. In rivers, boat limit rule doesn’t apply. In rivers, if you limit, you sit back and watch other people fish.
On trick for trolling that saves fish is rigging the flasher to the downrigger weight then running a release clip on the cable 4 feet above. This way the flasher stays out of your way when fighting the salmon. Makes netting easier particularly when there are swell conditions. Also gonna mention there are White Seabass in the S.F bay with a 70+lber caught and posted in the Western outdoor news.
Hey Chris! Thank you so much, I had asked you who to go with for Salmon and you told me about Capn Ross Pacific Angler wow!! we limited out in like two hours it was insane!! My son had never been before, never caught a Salmon until this trip Ty brother! Brett
Good job Chris you on fire 🔥 you always find the fish good job on your limit's can't wait till I get a chance to get on them salmons that was cool double hook up and you got a nice new Rod set up 🔥👍🎣💯 Catch you next time!
Interesting what a good eysight dolphins have, was trolling a live bonito when they swam allong, could see them looking at the bonito, but didn't bite, didnt want to catch one, just surprised before pulling the bait out
Man what a video Chris !!! I was holding tight in my chair. So much suspense. I was like don’t loose it !!! Haha love the actions congrats on the salmon Limits still in my bucket list to catch on my boat but still figuring out where to start haha. Thanks for sharing . Man that excitement !
Happy the video was exciting for you! I appreciate you watching and good luck getting a salmon on your boat, it will become easier to get to the salmon once we get to July. Thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 thank chris yeah that was exciting. My buddy also name Eric we were out today in Stinson beach today and we were taking about your recent salmon videos. Haha. We didn’t hook any today. We did saw whales , bait balls and some sigh of life but no salmon bites. We’re about outside Stinson and launched from Berkeley trolled the are and non. Might try deep reef or pescadero half moon bay . Crossing g finger
Great videos, I’ve never fish the ocean it looks like a blast or get a salmon the smile on your face says it all. How do you like your North River boat what are the likes and dislikes I just started looking at boats I would like to get one before I get to old😀, had one years ago.
happy you enjoy the videos! I love my boat. I dont have any dislikes. Dont go less then 20' if you want to do ocean, thats what mine is. 22' would be better.
Thank you for the reply, and yes I was thinking about 21 foot and above I like your setup it just looks right , anyway I’ve been on the Golden Gate but never under that’s so Kool will happy fishing and again thanks for sharing.
Love that double! So much excitement! Good job and way to limit out fast. I guess if the guy that has his limit he can reel it in? When I chartered years ago in Oregon that wasn't an issue as far as I can recall.
I know you are the man when it comes to salmon… but have you tried hanging that second hook further back (well behind the anchovy). I feel like when trolling, salmon will often swipe at the bait… having the trailer well off the back will catch those initial swipes. Maybe worth experimenting with, rig one rod with different hook spacing.
Yeah that might be a good idea. I try and line up the back hook about flush to .5 inch behind tail of bait. I like your thinking, thanks for the comment and watching!
You shouldnt worry about losing it if your trolling for salmon. Rockfishing is when I worry lol. As I am writing this I am thinking.... I have lost two, both while salmon trolling lmao. Once snagged on something big, like a rope or whale, who knows, other the line wrapped on the flasher and snapped. Thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 that’s exactly what I’m talking about I don’t know how many new lures I got and lost them on the first few cast😂. It happens. Tight lines
I use a 25lb main line with 20 pound leader. I might go to 25lb leader once I run out of my 20lb. Fish dont seem line shy and a little extra incase something big bites wouldn't hurt. Thanks for watching
Might know why you're losing fish . A technique I was taught was to first move upon getting bit is to reel like mad until the as much slack as possible is taken out and then hard hook set twice to ensure a set . Hope it helps and good luck !
yeah I am trying to do that, just start reeling, get that line tight as quickly as possible. I might be losing them playing with the cameras sometimes. Also might be my new downrigger weights. They run so vertical to the downrigger that I think there is more slack in the line then if it were kicked back a little more. Right now its almost like a 90 degree angle from bait, to downrigger clip to my rod. If the downrigger ball is farther back from boat that angle would be more, making less slack when fish takes line off clip. Not sure if I am able to make sense of what I am trying to say in text. Thanks for watching and your comment
