Surprising Catch in my Deepwater Hoop Net Drop!
HTML-код

- In this trip I head out solo for some Dungeness Crab in Bodega Bay, CA. I try one hoop net out in deeper water. The catch is surprising and I am guessing like me, most of you don't know about these interesting animals. Watch this to learn what lives on the bottom out past 200ft.

Good to see you and video men
Great to see you making videos again. People like you and your videos. I like to see those kiddos again. Fishing maybe during the springtime
Thank you
Always great to try something new. Caught my first Sablefish a couple weeks ago. Can't wait till the ocean calms down to try it again.
Tie it to the dock before you even launch it. That’s brilliant! I launch alone sometimes too and always tie to my truck. I’ll have to try doing it that way. Love your videos!
Thanks for watching!
@ the sticky worms those are amazing! Thanks for sharing. 😃
I still learned something. So in my book still a successful video…. Thanks Chris…
Great video, Chris. Misery loves company, I guess. I've had several days like yours of crabbing this year. As you mentioned, the weather has been a problem. Hoping for something better soon.
Great educational video! Thanks for the hagfish education. I still hope to go out with you soon when the weather improves. But no hagfish, please. 😂
A very informative and interesting video. Hagfish slime is defense against predators. If bitten they inject it into the predators mouth. It expands into gills or blocks air way and and can kill the predator. You a capable and confident sailor to go out solo!!
Thanks for watching
Chris, Merry belated Christmas to you and your fam. Thanks for the upload.
Classic that lady cheese head giving you guys the stink eye in that photo from Lambo. Thanks for the informative slime eel post, fish on Chris!
i know right, majority of the packers fans were friendly. After the game a couple got cocky so i let them know we are 5-0 last 5 playoff matchups and have more super bowls :) Thanks for watching
I like those boots.🥾
And sounds like a great deal 👨🏼🦲👍🏼
Happy Birthday
Thanks for sharing.
I think I’ll keep my crab traps in shallow water!
Just got a pair for Christmas can’t wait to use them! Those would be good bait lol
Happy Birthday! Go 9ers!!!
Just got some hisea boots.. Thanks for the code ....
Great video, I’ve always heard about Hagfish but never knew about slime and their usefulness. Thank you.
thanks for watching, happy you found it interesting
Enjoy you videos. Beautiful boat. Suggest you look into a Fell Marine MOB system. Don't recall a mention of it when you talked about your new boat. If you or someone falls overboard it stops the boat from running away. Existing safety requires a line to a boats' kill switch which is not always convenient .Fell System is wireless and has some other nice features. Nothing more terrifying than your boat powering away from you in the ocean with no one at the helm. Great to put a tag on kids or guests too.Best wishes.😮
I will look into this. thank you. I have a epirb and installing a 6man raft this month. But none of that helps you if your solo and fall in. Thanks
Gross! That is super cool you shared them. I want to put the slime on my co workers car door handles.
Thank God you made a video do you know how many milk curtains I've turned around looking for your face...
Nice to see you back😊😊😊😊😊
lol, thanks for watching
Good Video Chris
Happy belated birthday Chris
Thanks caught 2 of them in 130 ft. In a hoop net up north did not know what they were
interesting... i think it has to do with the floor bottom. you get crab too or no?
Yes it was mud bottom and my bait trap looked like yours
There was a few crab in net
lol watched ur herring vid man only if I had boat to go do it
Love the boat nice
Happy Birthday!
nice intro.. the hagfish slime,, thats what batman uses for his web.
lol, could be
That was interesting Chris. I’m in American Canyon and have been fishing/crabbing/hunting Northern California for….a long time. Maybe we can hook up some day.
Feels like crabbing has been off this year. I snared from the beach and caught 17 but only 3 of them were keepers.
Wow those hag fish have some nasty slime!
yeah, its pretty crazy. thanks for checking out the video
Ayyyee! Did u get the charter started yet?
yes. Its the slow months right now. Be at it full time in March
Awesome video. How far do you go out west from Bodega Bay to find 50 fathom? Just curious because I was thinking about going out for rockfish when weather permits.
Very interesting indeed.
At what point or how high of the sea is when you say let’s not go?
I think 7ft is the cutoff. Wind is a huge factor and the frequency of the wave.
Update on Ambush hoop nets .CCR Title 29.80 (b) . They ARE considered type B fishing gear, and are LEGAL in Cali during Dungy season, but if you ask on search, you get a "NO, they are not legal". There is some bad info on search, on the use of ambush hoop nets
That’s crazy chris….. all the crab I’ve caught this year have been 194+
out the gate towards the islands?
@ yes sir
Chris, do you have any charterboat recommendations for bodega Bay asking for a friend?
I do charters in bodega. my contact is in description of video
@ thx I’ll pass it along 🤙🏽
I have seen them unloading slime eels at fort bragg princess dock a few times, looks like a mess..
King Tides have the bottom churned up ? Definitely some brown water ...
yeah i think king tide, maybe run off from all the rain. lots of wind and big swells. thanks for watchin
I used to work in a fish processing plant and the plat next door specialized in slime eels the seagulls would steal them and eat them alive then the eels would kill the gulls by eating there way out of the gull
man thats crazy.
A lingcod would eat that in a heartbeat!
i know, would be fun to try. Need to see if I can catch the hagfish on hook and line. Doing the commercial way you still have to "land" them before you could use them.
Hay when are we getting so.e new video
The website for Hi Sea says free shipping on orders over $50.00, but when you checkout it says $9.95 expedited shipping, no other option.
What if you tied the trap to a cleat and dragged it behind the boat on the way back to the launch? Would that clean it off?
that would. It would put a lot of strain on the line. I dont think I would trust the cheap 100ft rope I added. It was rated at 150lb. But good idea!
Never heard of Dungies in 230'.
@atatterson6992 Have you heard of anyone trying? The sf fleet has been getting them in +/-200ft by the islands. No one I know has tried over 150ft because everyones rope is 200ft or less. thanks for watching
@ChrisPfish2 To be fair, I haven't heard of anyone fishing that deep. But why would they when there are plenty between 10 and 50 feet?
Two crabs better than zero crabs 🦀
lol right. thanks for watching
💛...those are like marine cousins of the graboids...
What model boat is that?
25ft hardtop
Why are slime eels protected?
good question why sport fisherman cant use traps to keep them.
Your birthday is the same as mine.
I should call her
Do you get bigger size boots?
i wear size 12 shoes and same size hisea boots.
@ just ordered a pair. Thanks for the videos
Could use it for bait maybe ??
if you were allowed to keep them, it would work great
You know I like how you check things out before you take off of the boat just like people doing planes I mean you made sure was greased up and everything you topped everything off just to make sure I like that safety first and I also like was it looks like you have diamond plate aluminum Anna underneath the front of the boat I like that too that’s what I would do if I had a boat I never thought about when I did have a boat years ago but that was years ago pretty cool dude
I’m going to guess it’s a flat fish. I haven’t seen anything yet
thanks for the guess!
hagfish slime. Is that kind of like getting married? Be careful, boys.
hagfish slime will choke out any fish trying to eat it only thing i’ve seen eat them are sea lions and seagulls
Yea pretty disgusting looking Hag fish, but I think your right about the Lings they'd gobble them up.
Hag fish ! Yuck !
Hate to tell you , But the NFL is Rigged.
The NFL isnt anything to me like it used to be. I will miss Sunday football for about anything now. Back in the day I wouldnt miss a game. Still doesnt take away from the fun trip.
@ FYI , your videos are awesome. Thank you for sharing your fishing 🎣 experiences up in the Bay Area. The bay is an awesome place to live and fish . I’ve done both. Have a successful and Happy New Year. 💯👍🏿
You are now Spider-Man webs. You gonna learn how to use it, though a lot of practice, shooting webs at her hands like that.
Positive vibes, hope to fish with you 1 day
