Check out his old band, the Arc Angels. They’re a blues rock supergroup formed in Austin, Texas in the early 1990s. The band came together after the death of Stevie Ray Vaughan and was composed of Vaughan’s friends Doyle Bramhall II and Charlie Sexton and two of the band members from Vaughan’s band Double Trouble, drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon. Good stuff.
What a great musician this guy is. I've seen him live playing with Clapton, Trucks etc and he is right up there. He's a complete package with his songwriting and musicianship. Can listen for hours
One of the greatest guitar lessons that I ever got was an old dude at an open jam who leaned over and said 'any time you hear two guitar players playing the exact same thing that's one too many.' listen to these two guys playing completely different but complimentary things. So smooth, so sexy.
Doyle Bramhall II has a fine singing voice and huge guitar chops! I enjoy his selections of songs. I am always a Jeff Beck fan but after his death I discovered Doyle Bramhall II and other great talents.😊
Both he and his Dad have that same style. It’s a relaxed Texas Blues sound that you have to appreciate! You have to love this! Texas music like this has a real down to earth Bluesy feel that I have come to know and love!
One of the greats!!!!! Wish he had more recognition. Since he played in Portugal i am a fan!!!! Terrific bluesman!!! Hope he returns to Lisbon!!!! Cheers!
@@user-gm5by6dj3d Actually Abe only ''played'' bass in the music video. Doyle didn't have any bassists available for the video shoot, so he asked Abe to mimick. Tim Lefebvre from Tedeschi Trucks Band played the actual bass on the record.
Caught him with the Arc Angels last December. I was blown away. If you get the opportunity to see him with the Arc Angels then move heaven and earth to get your ass in a seat.
I’ve been following Doyle since I saw him opening for Clapton in 2000. I’ve got all his records and he just gets “classier and classier” with every record. Either this or the Smokestack album are my favorites. For some reason he just doesn’t shine when playing with Clapton, maybe he wants to be considered another member of his band, but his solo stuff is amazing, you all should check him out! Please come to Spain soon!!!
Wow. Just found him on a Crossroads Music Festival playing with Beck and Clapton yesterday. Beck does a lead, Clayton does a lead and if you watch Beck's face when Bramhall Deuce starts playing-- Beck's face changes and he said "Oh Fuck!" . It's amazing enough to send me into the comments where I found the name Doyle. The search gratefully lead me to some new music played on a guitar struck upside down. This guy : )
Wow Doyal thank you for being the whole package!! I can't believe I am just now discovering you! Your guitar sings my Soul awake in a relaxed manner and your voice takes me to the place of wanting more and hoping the song will not end!
Ive been aware of Doyle for years but as someone here said it is kind of easy to miss him beside Clapton on stage , which is where i think he is mostly seen by most people. So I was so glad to stumble across this on RUclips. But here we get to see that he is truly a very unique talent in all respects . It seems he has been playing with most of the big name players for quite some time and yet somehow it seems he does not have the general recognition he so deserves . Hang in there Doyle . Those of us have been able to get to know your great talent are fans for life !
OK ya i thought thats what happened but I never have heard this song really so I was not sure I dont know much about him and thought maybe thats is normal bc it didn't sound bad haha
Everything you need...just...I must have listened to this 1000 times...frickin' awesome song and playing, bought the single, you're an incredible guitarist/musician, you've inspired and helped me review my own guitar playing, thanks brother ...mucho respect!!!!
I had known about him for a pretty long time but never gave him an honest chance until 1 week ago. Then i found his newest Album ”Shades” and it is brilliant.
I did not know about this guy until I saw him playing @ Clapton's band and it's just his style and sound which is so unique and fantastic, love it. Also his use of the "analog outfitters" guitar pedals gear is just phantastic (can hear it in the second song in the solo parts) 11:58. Keep following this man
I've followed Doyle from the moment the DVD with Roger Waters came out. He has a great feel and tone... And I'm always amazed how he plays with the guitar upside down, makes my hand hurt just by thinking about that.
Mahalo Nui Doyle2, we do need more musicians like you, i can't stop listening to you! I live in Seattle WA. I saw you singing next to Clapton and well you win!
@@DavidS-pw5gd Yes that's plainly visible. He has stated elsewhere that this is part of achieving the desired sound of older players like Albert King ... there is no reason to assume that this is technically more difficult than anything else, except you'd have fewer role models and more work transcribing and translating.
thanks god !!!! you buy a new guitar :) hehehe , Amazing guitar player , im from Portugal and your Fã , first time i see you " in the flesh " with a Roger waters and i walways folow your music

This version of going going is better than the CD’S ONE which is so good with Tedeschi trucks band but this vibe sound and this voices work makes me amazed !!!!! You are a king Doyle, trust in you....Kind regards from France
My dreams just came true....Doyle is amazing! I really miss the ‘Arc Angels’. Artists progress and it is what it is. P.S. I saw this a week ago but did not have time to watch the entire video.
I have seen Doyle on the big stage opening and with Clapton , Crow , Pink Floyd , Solo in small rooms . Original HOB in Cambridge ma . Bull Run Sherly ma .Myskins in Charleston SC. w/ Arc Angles . Always a great show but bring ear protection in small rooms . I love this mans music .
Your use of the word "even" implies he should know what you know. Does that include singing and playing guitar exceedingly well? You need know yourself--better.
Great sound indeed...esp.with the small amps they're using. Very nice blend between Doyle and the drummer's voices. Excellent. Very glad to have found such good tunes- I had heard of him previously, of course, but I'll be checking it out further for sure.
I saw Doyle 2 weeks ago.. Wow! I saw Jimmie Vaughan 6 days earlier, ( Stevie's birthday) and found out Doyle had been playing with both of them since his teens. This amazing talented man has so much more to give..
A little into the first song, you can see Doyle lost his place trying to play the rhythm, or something, like maybe he lost his focus. That slight shake of his head... I know that feeling, playing with others and for some reason the connection between your brain and hands seems to malfunction for a few seconds... He didn't falter on vocals though! Awesome, soulful and soothing sound he has with this new record! I'm digging it! Love that smooth and sweet tone from his guitar too!
Been listening to Doyle for over 25 years now. Sounding great!
Doyle Bramhall 2 is amazing and my new favorite artist. Everything you need is my new favorite song. I could listen to it all day. ❤

That's a tight little ensemble. Bass player is killing it.
Andy Hess
Thank you Doyle, this world needs more musicians like you brother..
Doyle has always been the coolest cat in town but he takes it up a notch with the addition of the Sly Stone t-shirt in this video! What a stud!!
What a great musician this guy is. I've seen him live playing with Clapton, Trucks etc and he is right up there. He's a complete package with his songwriting and musicianship. Can listen for hours
Doyle is a joker in a good way. 😁😄 He's one the most tasteful and talented guitarist, singer and composer of the last 15-20 years.
Can we appreciate that he's actually playing a right-handed ES as a lefty.. and creating magical noises!
That's just a lefty homie - but he does play it strung backwards.
Lefty & a Heritage H535

Doyle is awesome as usual.. but I'm blown away by singing drummer with the Rob Tyner hairdo
Thats Abraham Rounds, plays with Meshell Negeocello as well. One of the best drummers ive ever seen..👍🏻
Doyle Bramhall II has a fine singing voice and huge guitar chops! I enjoy his selections of songs. I am always a Jeff Beck fan but after his death I discovered Doyle Bramhall II and other great talents.😊
Have you listened to Eric Gales .. another super amazing upside-down player
. Love them both
Jeff beck meets Jimi Hendrix.... Love it... I am a huge new fan 😊
Ever since the ARC Angels and his Welcome CD I’ve loved this cats music, such a fresh sound and talent. See him all the time when he’s back in Austin.
Doyle! Your mama can't help you no more!!!!
So far I had only known Doyle Bramhall as a side-man to Clapton etc. but now came to realize he is so much more and such a versatile musician.
Both he and his Dad have that same style. It’s a relaxed Texas Blues sound that you have to appreciate! You have to love this! Texas music like this has a real down to earth Bluesy feel that I have come to know and love!
If Doyle Bramhall comes to your town, go see him. He's fantastic live... the whole band is.
Very 70’s sounding.
Great grooves, lots of soul!
DBII lineage is amazing I have been aware of him sense SRV would put him on stage . He is the future
The bassist is so on it grooves !
Arc Angels brought me here, stayed for the Grandfathered-In Doyle B II by SRV

Amazing guitarist & songwriter . . . Just goes from strength to strength
Doyle is the man - soul child! I'll be definitely checking him out live soon. This sounds fantastic as well.
Great music, that bassist is a monster!

The best there is today.
Maye McDonald I think Michael Landau is up there too?!
Ian Thomas Duh? Of course!
Ian Thomas How about Gary Clark Jr?
packing a lot of authentic soul here. Love it.
Mind blown. He plays with the guitar strings in reversed order.
MosesMabini that’s how the great Albert King played too

It's not harder than the regular approach if that's how you learned.
