RICH MAN IS ACCLAIMED SINGER-SONGWRITER-GUITARIST DOYLE BRAMHALL II’S FIRST RELEASE SINCE 2001
Concord Records will release singer-songwriter-guitarist Doyle Bramhall II’s latest album Rich Man. The album, long awaited by fans who have followed Bramhall’s collaborations with artists as far-ranging as Tedeschi Trucks Band to Roger Waters, is his first in over a decade. The album reflects both his extensive experience in the interim with such artists as Eric Clapton, whom he’s worked closely with for more than ten years (and who hails him as one of the most gifted guitarists he’s ever heard) and Sheryl Crow, for whom he produced and composed songs for on the 2011 album 100 Miles from Memphis, as well as an intensive spiritual and musical journey that took him to India and Africa in search of new sounds and an inner peace sought following the death of his legendary father Doyle Bramhall.
“I’d been writing pretty consistently for other artists and projects since my last album and had stored a lot of songs, sort of documenting my life story,” says Bramhall, whose long list of collaboration credits further includes the likes of Roger Waters, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, B.B. King, T-Bone Burnett, Elton John, Gary Clark Jr., Gregg Allman, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Billy Preston, Erykah Badu, Questlove and Meshell Ndegeocello.
Most recently Bramhall has teamed with ace guitarist Derek Trucks (both proclaimed as “The New Guitar Gods” by Guitar World when they served in Clapton’s band in the late 2000) in the Tedeschi Trucks Band, also starring Trucks’ wife Susan Tedeschi. Bramhall’s collaborations with Tedeschi Trucks have included production and standout tracks on each of their three acclaimed albums.
“I’d been busy touring and producing for other artists, and so I took a hiatus from recording and performing as a solo artist. All those experiences actually helped me develop new skills and I learned how to facilitate my own sound. I feel like the stars finally aligned to allow me to be completely myself as an artist for the first time-singer, guitar player, songwriter, producer- and take things that were happening in my life and put them into music.” Видеоклипы
January 28th....1993... the night I met my wife and the night we saw Doyle Bramhall and The Arc Angels at Tramps in New York City....I will never forget that night....you opened up with Living in a Dream.... we will forever be connected to you. Love your new sound....can't wait to see you again.
1989.. I met SRV and double trouble.. life changing..
why is this guy not 1000x more famous than anybody else out there, is there no justice
"Your Mamma cant help you no more believe it" says the awesome drummer !!!!!!!!!
I love the fact that he has James Gadson on drums that man is a legend his wrist work is impeccable
This is what America . Gives to the WORLD. a very specialized Gumbo of sound that could only come from here. in the U.S.A. Deep . History. its all here. Peace.
absolutely epic! James Gadson, so cool! no frills... the world needs more of that...no botox...kardashian swollen mouth..alicia keys cheek injections.. all that posing... this whole 'movie' indie look is just epic! Go Bramhall boy..go...!!! u already got the afro brother!
This is BOMB! James Gadson killin it on drums. I've been playin bass 50 years and never heard of Abe Rounds on bass so had to look him up. Turns out he's a drummer. Explains why he's totally in the pocket on bass. Real music is still alive! Gotta quit typing and go back and listen again.
Ed Sheeran is real music...just kidding
Lee Hammond , you got that right they are all burning it up..gotta have that rhythm and they got it.
That’s me on bass actually
@@timothyjlefebvre3962 You look different on this one, Tim! 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, because Lord knows that those of us who play bass as our primary are incapable of playing in the pocket. -smdh-
I'll never understand why Doyle has never made it bigger than he has. Great voice. I saw him at Stubbs once, I was right in front of his superbass and a bigassed monitor and nearly went deaf that night but it was incredible. Arc Angle reunion gig I think. So good.
one of the few things that makes me proud to be an American in the last 6 months? . ........this dude and this song ! oh and that drummer! ....and that bass player................and of course that mama who CAN help me singing that chorus.
The man has a unique sense of rhythm and melody and lyrics.
The 60 people who gave this a thumbs down, obviously have a shit load of wax in their ears, seriously !!!
looks like the same studio james gadson recorded "running away" with Vulfpeck.!!!!! Righteous!!!
I swear somebody wrote that song, just for me...just for today. Sums up the current situation to a "T". I have listened to it repeatedly. I am a vocalist, and am learning it for my next karaoke run
60's, 70's, 80's and most of the 90's came and went and I'm thinking all the great ones have been heard, Then..., DB III pretty much came out of nowhere ( Texas actually ), and saved the day, the decade and all this time since. This cat is the shit.
Doyle must've learned to play on a right handed guitar. Plays a lefty now, but still strung upside down as if he was playing a right handed guitar! Wow, love it!!
Doyle killed it in Houston with the Arc Angels and with Roger Waters back in the day.
Gregg Travis Austin too
Doyle is an extraordinary musician
This album is pure genius.
Many Hats off to you My Dear Doyle BramhallII!!!! Love All Yours!! & Your Music Too!! Outstanding!! JoJo/JoAnn M. Johnson Thank You For Pure Enjoyment!! Ears & Eyes Love It!!& Heart too!!
gotta say...! Do love your slight but , I can't help it from LMAO! on Video here! " the humor".. !! JJ/JoJO
June 2022 and this music still kicks ass and takes names.
Your dad wrote one of , maybe the , most beautiful and heartfelt and happy and sad simultaneously songs of all time
Which song?
Life by the drop
Dude i wanna cgill with them. Doyle still has it. That drummer badass
why isn't this all over the radio ????? don't get much better than this groove and those lyrics..........play it radio people !!!!!!
My thoughts too🤔
On repeat!!
Probably it’s to long for radio 😂 and there is a guitar solo in it 😂😂
Mr. James is a mo-town soul machine, played with and on everything outta that era.
It just gets better re-listening. Kinda like listening to Bobby Bland or Al king. just better and better. It IS the groove.
Was just about to write the same thing: it just doesn't stop getting better.
D'you put James Gadson on the kit? Oh, baby. Mama may not be able to help you, but James sure can!
Listen to this track! He will definitely break it down to you!! I guarantee it! I'll put money on it! You can only break it down one way! Let mr. Bramhall II break it down! God bless!
What a great track. It’s mind blowing to fathom that this doesn’t get more airplay! What a talented group of players💯
Probably because he's actually in it for the music and isnt corruptible and controllable. The underrated artists are always the best especially live... IMO
"with my heart in the dirt, and my clothes in the yard" Pure blues. DB2 is one of my favorites.
Been listening to music 50 years. This is the shit
From Memphis Tn. Awesome tasteful groove with spice!! Tasteful guitar without showboating. Playing for the song and bringing the heat! This is music!! Thanks Doyle! Memphis musicians are supporting you Texas brother.
GodBless brother I grew up 60 miles South of Memphis in the Arkansas Delta and got to see EVERYONE at the Mid-South Coliseum. My first was Elvis. When the British Bands came to America they didn’t give a shit about playing NY or LA…. Memphis was the Mecca
THIS IS THE BEST🌟 AROUND! YOU ALL ARE 🎼GROOVIN ME RIGHT🎸 OUT OF MY CHAIR!! SO SO EXCITED! THAN YOU,
Best mix! Whenever I feel cocky, thinking I’m pretty good. I listen to this and realize. James Gadson and all are so groove.
1. I love this.
2. The drummer looks like a smooth black version of Ricky from Trailer Park Boys.
I love the chords, the people, the lyrics, the strat, Jame's drums, the bass the the hook.
Would love to play this to my mother-in-law! But I would rather hear Mr bramhall II one more time!
Vibe at 2.40 knocks me out
My students have the best taste! The Legendary James Gadson rockin' the groove. Thanks Billy K.
Good Lord, the backing singer is gorgeous. I know I should be focused on the music but damn...
One of the highlights of 2017 for me was experiencing this man's presence at the
Big Blues Bender! He truly is an amazing musician with such a soul and
authentic delivery. #BigBluesBenderRocks!
So many layers of pure, simple magic here. Just listen to all the backing melodies DBII is playing. Marvelous stuff.
Clever and classy lift from No Diggity by Blackstreet. Well done.
2:17 That is the coolest guitar solo I have seen in years!!!!
James Gadson kills this!
Wow!!! Soul food!!.... luxury nowadays!!! Thank God! Lovvveeeee it!!! Thankful I found and thank you artists!💕
I thought I was a Doyle B fan all these years, turns out maybe not lol...I never realized he played guitar with it strung upside down. That always fascinates me, him, Eric Gales now too. Wild stuff!!
This drummer rocks!
So you little punk kids your mama can't help you no more! No one can emerge musically like this again but you can draw inspiration from this!
WHAT A KILLER GROOVE !
2:47 That bass player-to-drummer look when you know that it's grooving...
Okay it's f****** 20/20 in the streets on fire! People like Marvin Gaye Curtis Mayfield are gone!
funky shit!! love it....there is hope for us 60s n 70s dreamers who thought it was lost forever.
How good is the groove
Hey Doyle, great progression! Some times the bull walls down the hill. simple, started in 78 love your double meanings . We think in ar right mind and I will be going to China soon
No idea why this wasn't at least a top 50, that's conservative, he adds an amazing pre chorus-chorus. Beautiful Chorus smooth as the small of beautiful woman's back ;)
Insane guitar tone/sound solo
I'm still not over this groove
This is as good as the blues gets. Perfectly realized. And that drummer is the man!
The one and only James Gadson on drums..... at 78 years young.
TIGHT and REAL.
Best thing Ive heard in years.
This is the funk I needed!!!
Those drums sound MASSIVE 😍😍😍
James Gadson on drums.
Doyle is the MAN!
Any time that somebody not familiar with music,
or anybody who isn't a musician,
asks, "What is a groove, exactly?"
"You keep talking about holding down that GROOVE, what is a GROOVE?"
THIS.
This is a groove.
Pne of the best drummets in the business
Drummer says before the song starts "Your Mama can't help you no more believe it" !!!!!!!
Bad ass drummer is that man
This is a message to the music industry your mama can't f****** help you no more! We're not renegades!
Freakin awesome -- DBII kicking ass baby
His dad was a hell of a songwriter/musician. Wrote many songs with & for Stevie Ray Vaughan. Doyle was raised at the alter of good soul stirring greasy blues/ funk music. SRV was like his big bro! You can tell he was soaking it up watching & listen as a kid. Love this dude
Dag- haven't heard anything this good in a while- has a Gregg Allman writing flavor- want to catch this dude live. Left handed guitar plays like a slide without the slide. dig it.
He actually playing it upside down. He got right handed strings on a left handed guitar and is playing it upside down like Albert King
Junior is today's Soul Captain
Still listening to this great song in 2024!
Moi j'écoute ce mec depuis plusieurs années et franchement j'aime ce qu'il fait. Montez le son ! vive le groove ! Biz endjoy it .
Doyle, you are a gift. . you are making Pops and Stevie proud :
Cooler than DBII doesn't exist
Yeah! Viva the very good music. . .
you are the best, doyle
"So why you still stirrin' up s#@t now?" Love this song!
Doyle is one hell of a musician, VERY impressed with his talent. Haven't really cared much for his solo stuff but this is a good one. He comes across as more "seasoned" and this tune has a good sound. My only complaint is not hearing enough of his gnarly guitar solos in this tune. Doyle, the hell with time limits, stretch it out and show off you skill !!!
Gets more bad ass with every listen.
You sir - are doing your influences and the greats that came before you proud
DB2 is back. Love Arc Angels
Doyle's picking carries a lot of information with each note. Not since Climax Blues Band have I've heard picking this good!
the man and the blues voice!!
Holy crap!! Thank you so much.
I had the pleasure of meeting Doyle for the second time in my life recently, and drove 7 hours through a snow storm last month just to see him play his only Canadian show. This man is incredibly talented & one of the coolest musicians in the biz. I highly recommend his latest CD/Album "Rich Man" to everyone, and if he's playing anywhere near you in the future, go and see him play live, you won't regret it!
where in canada did he play? I would do a road trip to see him for sure
Where Buffalo?
@@dockrock64 We saw him at the Tralf Music Hall in Buffalo.
Awesome show, small venue.
Rick B It is near Niagara Falls, Ontario.
No wonder Clapton got him on every Crossroads concert. NICE!
followed him since Arc Angel days... totally super talented and under the musical radar unless you read between the lines.
I know why the video is so grainy! Doyle owes us at least 15 years of delivering his original music, so he has to make up by making it look as if it was recorded back in 2002 :3 Wonderful work, Sir. Please keep it coming.
"I don't want no more sh#t now, and I'm tired of living this way" !!!!!!!!
Tell it.
YES! Just pre-ordered the album; can't wait to hear the rest. Memphis misses ya, Doyle!
This is so great! It has clear roots, but is modern at the same time.
Been a fan since Arc Angels. Love this song.
Lucky to have seen them too. Doyle's a Texas treasure, very unappreciated.
@Talkin Bout Nawlins Armadillo world HQ!, the One night, Soap Creek, Man Iam ready for some sandy creek park!
John Malkovich is killing it man.
This cat is one of THE most soulful talents around!! In a class by himself!
Some people just have it.......Doyle has it. Great track.
Doyle, You're a MONSTER. Great Trac. Killer groove. I'm doin' this one!
This is the best music I have heard in ages, pure ear-candy, makes the soul singin'. 30th September - such a long time till release date..
no shitting pretty sweet song DB2...ha! proud of myself could recognize the drummer as the guy from Bill Wither's..master drummer
Yeah... Doyle have the soul of blues and rock and roll. I love it...
Yes! James Gadson. Nice groove and tune by Doyle.
Amid all that perfection the drumming still stands out. Beautiful.
