So, after Joker 2, according to the director, this scene wasn't supposed to imply that the future Joker is laughing at the realization that he is responsible for the creation of his archnemesis Batman. Then tf was it supposed to imply? What was the point of the shot at 0:51? What was he laughing at if he never actually became THE Joker or ever met Batman?
I think what he was going for. Is the joker came up with the idea of batman for his hatred of the Waynes. And this is him thinking that it's funny to see Thomas Wayne's son being a superhero who's destined to stop him. And that he is imagining that he is some kind of super villain but in reality he's not. This is him laughing at the idea of what if me and him weren't so different. The idea about batman is not realistic for this universe
Foile a Deux really gaslighted the audience into thinking that THIS Arthur Fleck that we see in the ending, would let anyone humiliate him again? Seriously? He wouldn't even hesitate fcking a sec to slit someone's throat right away.
"See, there were these two guys in a lunatic asylum... and one night, one night they decide they don't like living in an asylum any more. They decide they're going to escape! Now, the first guy, he jumps right across with no problem. But his friend, his friend didn't dare make the leap. Y'see... Y'see, he's afraid of falling. So then, the first guy has an idea... He says 'Hey! I have my flashlight with me! I'll shine it across the gap between the buildings. You can walk along the beam and join me!' B-but the second guy just shakes his head. He suh-says... He says 'Wh-what do you think I am? Crazy? You'd turn it off when I was half way across!" Joker during the Killing Joke comic book
All in favour of forgetting the existence of Joker Folie á Deux, and just accepting THIS as the true ending to this interpretation of Joker, raise your hand. ✋
Theory: this lady isn't a therapist. She's a detective there to ask questions for one of Jokers schemes. She locks herself in a room with Arthur, and he finds a way to kill him.
by the way, most dont count the end as one of the deaths in kill-count video's in the film, but if you'll notice the bloody footprints he leaves as he is walking away, he killed the woman who was interviewing him
1:58 I just finished watching Vertigo for the first time and there is a scene where a woman slowly walks down a hallway of a mental institution framed almost exactly like in this film and they're walking with the same tempo. It's a nice homage to a great film that I just picked up and it makes me appreciate The Joker even more.
So, the joke is that after tell her his story, in his mind, he died at the end, but he is still alive. Haha, I think that's a really good joke, a good dark joke.😅
I believe it was all in his mind. That laughing & crying/emotional pain is characteristic of someone who goes in and out of episodes - I’ve been there. When someone asks “why are you laughing?” (while faced with talking about difficult things) the thought of having to explain it all and knowing where to even start, it’s too exhausting and overwhelming, the emotion comes to the surface all at once (and suddenly the saying “if you didn’t laugh, you’d cry” comes to life) and you revert back to type instead. It’s easier sometimes, especially when dealing with authorities/organisations whose numbers, targets & pre-conceived ideas don’t allow individuals working for them to ever actually do their job properly, be able to allocate the time, care & resources into really hearing & helping someone - (which I’m sure Arthur references when he first meets his therapist.
I saw "Joker 2" yesterday. Such a disappointment. It was like a betrayal. The stupid musical bits, which interrupted the story flow aside - what they did to Arthur Fleck's character is just criminal. No sane person will believe, that Joker from the Murray scene, the riot scene and the Arkham asylum scene, is the same person as that lame, simpy, confused and pathetic guy in this poor sequel. I hope they paid You a lot of shekels, Todd Phillips. It would be tragic, if they made You destroy Your greatest artistic creation cheaply.
I like how they ended this movie like it was meant to be a standalone film but it became a huge hit and grossed over a billion dollars at the box office and the sequel has officially been greenlit and is coming out. Definitely can’t wait for the sequel! Edit: well… I take it back, the sequel is doing pretty awful. This movie should’ve been left as is.
Ok I think that joker learned the identity of Batman and that's why he says "you wouldn't get it" after we see bruce at 0:53 , he thinks this is funny because he created his worst enemy. ( I guess we'll never know)
I’ve always seen the joke as being chaos. Chaos begetting chaos, pain begetting pain, and just through his own act of madness and liberation he helped creating a champion of order in Batman
Batman's not a champion of order. If he was, there wouldn't be a need for a mental institution. If order was intact, everyone would know their role in life and be happy knowing their place. But since it's not, hence the chaos....
When I talk about film with my freinds. Most of them they say we dont understand film very clearly and joker's last words of film is ''You wouldn't get it'' .I think that's a message to everyone !!!
This scene alone clearly dispels the sequel movie "Folie A Deux" as being nothing more than a fantasy in Arthur's head during his time at Arkham. Notice his greying hair and his recollection of young Bruce Wayne... this scene takes places years in the future, making the events of "Folie A Deux" non-real.
Yeah bro I agree. I had also noticed that Arthur is much older in this scene than in Joker 2 and the first one. I also believe that this moment takes place in the future.
I haven't seen the second film yet... I had already seen a scene of Harley killing him... But it was just Arthur's illusion. In the same way that his death at the end could be just another one of his imaginations.
Imagine how crazy the ending would have been instead of the shot of bruce looking over his dead parents to batman in a dark shadow looking over arkham asylum

@@gulagbatman1318 are u 16 years old? Explains why you think joker is good lol
The entire ending is retconned, not only does this scene not fit, he doesn't act the same anymore
Did todd talked about this scene?
In joker 2 they never mention Arthur been apart on arkham or said something about how Arthur killed that woman here.
well we know Todd is not dumb..but perhaps a greedy opportunist and ultimate troll lol
Hell this is a beautiful looking movie! Im sure this film’s winning Best actor and best cinematography mark my words
Flat out ended the film with a Scooby-Doo chase sequence...and it's brilliant!
Foile a Deux really gaslighted the audience into thinking that THIS Arthur Fleck that we see in the ending, would let anyone humiliate him again? Seriously? He wouldn't even hesitate fcking a sec to slit someone's throat right away.
The joke he was thinking of was the possibility of Joker 2.
Joker 2 never happened folks, it was all in his head
I actually think this is canon
This is the only ending that exists in my book. Joker 2 did not happen.
"See, there were these two guys in a lunatic asylum... and one night, one night they decide they don't like living in an asylum any more. They decide they're going to escape! So, like, they get up onto the roof, and there, just across this narrow gap, they see the rooftops of the town, stretching away in the moon light... stretching away to freedom. Crazy? You'd turn it off when I was half way across!"
Joker during the Killing Joke comic book
All in favour of forgetting the existence of Joker Folie á Deux, and just accepting THIS as the true ending to this interpretation of Joker, raise your hand. ✋
Theory: this lady isn't a therapist. She's a detective there to ask questions for one of Jokers schemes. She locks herself in a room with Arthur, and he finds a way to kill him.
Ya I think that's what happened.
They destroyed this masterpiece. I am so sad.
by the way, most dont count the end as one of the deaths in kill-count video's in the film, but if you'll notice the bloody footprints he leaves as he is walking away, he killed the woman who was interviewing him
Bruh
@@FirstdaysRthehardest you wouldnt get it Sherlock
Sinatra just perfected this scene.
Except for the Murray show fantasy, this is the first time he truly laughed. You can see it in his eyes. The pain isn't there. Genius
let's just pretend that there is no sequel
1:58 I just finished watching Vertigo for the first time and there is a scene where a woman slowly walks down a hallway of a mental institution framed almost exactly like in this film and they're walking with the same tempo.
It's a nice homage to a great film that I just picked up and it makes me appreciate The Joker even more.
What if Arthur was thinking about the whole Joker Folie a deux and was laughing at the movie which is a really joke that you can't understand.
The woman: What it is so funny? You want to tell it for me?
Joanquin after seeing Joker 2: You wouldnt get it
“the end” mustve been the intended ending but it made more money than expected so they made a sequel.
That pelvic thrust at the end tho! I’m truly glad they never gave this movie a sequel for the sake of money! How truly Hollywood that would be.
This ending means nothing now after the sequel so sad.
The sequel does not exist.
Joker 2019 had one of the best endings but warner brothers ruined it
@petergriffinhorse1218 You mean terrible Todd Phillips and his writing teams had something to do with their disappointing lazy writings?
@@traydaniel0403 no I think the ending was simple yer affective
Here after watching the trailer for Joker 2
Ohhh 😮, there’s a second part ?? Wowwwww
We don’t talk about the 2nd film…
@@AFC2022 Yeah the sequel was horrible
“What’s so funny?”
Everyone just loves to ask that question, don’t they?
Thank you, Joaquin.
Thank you, Frank.
Thank you, Warner.
Lmao this scene doesnt even make sense now after the second movie. Just rendered meaningless.
This movie had so much potential for a great sequal.
@@ThePrescriberso much potential that this didn't even needed a sequal
We got this scene, yet Joker 2 destroyed it
What Joker 2?
The ending makes sense why the 2nd part is gonna be musical because joker thinks that way music makes his dream a structure.
Yeah kinda worried about the sequel hope it doesn't ruin The Joker
Not every movie needs a sequel though.
@@uncannydcmarvelous5732 I kinda wanna see it though. Trust in Pheonix lol A U turn from me.
Musical..
I wouldn't count it. It's a musical that mainly focuses on Harley Quinn falling in love with joker
You wouldn’t get it
“Killed 6 people” what a joke, he 100% killed the woman here, the blood will not be made just a metaphor
Ok I think that joker learned the identity of Batman and that's why he says "you wouldn't get it" after we see bruce at 0:53 , he thinks this is funny because he created his worst enemy. ( I guess we'll never know)
And joker live happily ever after The End
I loved Heath, but this was GOLDEN.
joker and batman was born at the same day
How?
@@gravityrushfan299The Joker was born the minute he murdered Murray, and Batman was born the minute his parents were murdered by Joe Chill.
@@gravityrushfan299you don't get it?
This is like watching your wedding tape after getting divorced.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh Maaan Exactly Where Did It Go Wrong(?)
Joker 2, what a piece of trash. I'll forever imagine that this is the real ending.
There is no Joker 2. This film was a one-and-done from the get-go.
If joker 2 is a musical it better be like this
Well. Was it?
@@samuelmyth8392sadly no.
Who else came back to this after seeing joker 2? 💀
Me
Some movies don't need sequels at all. A fine example 💯
Todd Phillips, the director, confirmed that this is Arthur’s “only genuine laugh in the movie”.
This is how Joker ended. Folle A Deux doesn’t exist or isn’t canon in my opinion.
He watched the sequel
The joke is life. The reason why she wouldn't get it is because she's going to die.
Before Joker 2: Ahh damn it’s over wish was a sequel.
After Joker 2: No need Sequel this is the only perfect ending of the movie.
And nothing else came out after this ending.
This is the real masterpiece,
Joker 2 is the joke 💀
Turns out he was laughing at what his masterpiece has came down to total trash of Joker 2
One of the all time Best films ❤
Remember when we thought Arthur would forever be Joker and face Batman?
I just didn’t see it going there. That’s why I thought this was the perfect ending and a sequel was completely unnecessary. And, well…
It was really nice that this movie was a one off and totally did not have a terrible sequel
I get it now, the real joke Arthur was laughing about is how bad the sequel is, so it was never canon and this is the real ending 😸
The second movie never happened. This is the TRUE ending.
Head canon: joker 2 was a bad dream he just woke up from
Arthur: *laughs*
Her: "what's funny"
Arthur: "Joker 2"
Well said
@@ZaqueideGames Nop, if he died
Also notices how the second film never mention Arthur been in Arkham and him hilling his doctor.
Who’s here after watching that abomination of a sequel?
Imagine how crazy the ending would have been instead of the shot of bruce looking over his dead parents to batman in a dark shadow looking over arkham asylum
That would be awesome!
