i love phil x he is an awesome soul man... when i first started watching his vids, i thought he was on coke or something but he is just naturally like this, which is dope...
This guitar is the best instrument I have ever heard. Major sustain, perfect tone, perfect gold color. ''Yeah its pretty crazy', yeah its pretty insane...'' Phil X is blown away
Proof positive its not always having humbuckers, pedals and processors, and metal oriented amps or guitars. Its in the fingers and in your soul, and knowing how to operate controls on your guitar and amp. Here Phil is playing classic rock and metal, straight into a Tonemaster with a P90 Les Paul.
I've actually got a Gibson LP with P90s & I'd give my left testicle to play like Phil. I could watch him all day but I'd get too jealous. Damn! Back to practising then, I guess!
I was wondering how to play the intro of "Flippin' Out" that is pretty hard to understand just by ear. Then I just watched this video to see the guitar and he also explained that. He's the man.
i've been doing that EVH trick since i started playing. i never had bought footswitch so i would turn down my rhythm pick up volume so the output is so low that it doesn't pick up the gain even when it's maxed, it's a sweet ass trick
Phil deserves a commission on any P-90 Gold Top sold by anyone anywhere from now on. I already bought a P-90 SG because of him. Gold Top and ES 335 are on the short list. Epi Sheraton is making due for now. Keep it up!
I like P90’s more than Real PAF’s I’d rather have a 55’ with wrap tail.. I’d take either..😊 Phil, I’m glad you finally got success. I don’t know another guy that deserves it more!!🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻👊🏻
Honestly and truly, this is THE best sounding guitar I've heard y'all demonstrate. To me, and I know people will think I'm nuts, this is the last GREAT Les Paul model before they completely ruined it in 59. The perfect model was the 54 with the single stopbar tail piece. The tune-o-matic in my opinion is the most uncomfortable, unnecessary crap that Gibson ever force fed the consumer. Perfect intonation can be achieved on the 54, 55, and 56 and they are way more comfy to play. Just my 2 cents.
love the gold deluxe with the p90's the sustain is like nothing else.... which is what I love most about this guitar although I don't see him showing that off here also thought 57 was the last year for p90's
I believe Phil X has rightfully deserved his spot amongst the guitar gods. Paige. Hendrix. Clapton. Gilmour. Blackmore. (don't feel like typing the rest) X!
The Les Paul really gives a unique sound that other guitars can't match.Pretty much all of Zeppelins stuff was done on a LP.When Eric Clapton was with cream he used a LP and a SG he switched to the strat after cream. Even during the reunion the songs didn't sound the same every time I hear crossroads I think of that Gibson sound. To be fair to the fender fans the strat sound cant be matched on a Gibson. Both are great guitars it comes down to what tone you prefer.PRS's sound pretty sick too!!
Everytime Phil plays a goldtop, Pure Magic happens. For those who disagree look up every video where he plays a goldtop & just see if you find any sub par ones. They do not exist.
"You think 'man, that's a compression pedal!', but it's not man, this guitar's just a singer" ... holy shit, what a beauty, wow! ( though the natural tube compression on the Vox is helping it a bit ) Nothing like a hot p-90 for that crunchy early rock sound.
I became addicted with FA vids since I discovered. Phil, you´re the man. But, I´ve seen like 100 of your vids guys, or maybe more, but of all those ones, I fell in love with this axe. don´t know. I love les pauls, tere´s something magical about the p90´s and I didn´t owned a gold top. I was between the bonammassa, the R7, the slash GT, but no... It was this 56 the one. I pick it today in the post. and i´m speechless. Beautiful. Forget the bonammassa or slash one. This is the real deal
is that a heritage guitar in the bottom right coner? and if so can you please play it! i got a 1986 The Heritage les paul sunburst and it plays amazing!
P 90'S SOUND GREAT, clean and dirty. Gibson made a Les Paul re-issue sun burst with a matte finish along with P 90's, $850ish not that long ago, Great deal. Remember Phil use to host a jam night up here and his band was called "Big Banana", lol...good solid rock player.
Da-yuuumm that LP sounds beyond awesome! 'This guitar's just a singer' - Phil X (made me start looking around for a P90 LP : ) and a free lesson or two, too!
If I could stand there and play and sing in my bedroom like that I would never leave the house. Phil is awesome. Makes me smile every time
Phil is the cover master..... How he remembers them all is beyond awesome.
Man, I usually can't stand guys like Phil. But I find it impossible to dislike him.
You cant helped but get amped when you see this guy. He loves what he does and is very good what he does.
i love phil x he is an awesome soul man... when i first started watching his vids, i thought he was on coke or something but he is just naturally like this, which is dope...
I keep coming back to watch these videos to pump up my positivism
This guitar is the best instrument I have ever heard. Major sustain, perfect tone, perfect gold color. ''Yeah its pretty crazy', yeah its pretty insane...'' Phil X is blown away
I just like the fact he is not afraid to play the guitars
Phil playing VH, Doesn't get any better than that, genuine joy!
That moment when Phil realizes he says the Hetfield "Yeeeaah" when playing Enter Sandman...priceless
Phil always manages to make my day just a little bit better! Thanks for that.
By far the greatest demo guy on You Tube... Great guitar playing!! Thank you Mr. Phil X
I wish I could hit that like button 5 times for Phil X playing EVH!!!!! Stuff like that is why I keep watching!
I've actually got a Gibson LP with P90s & I'd give my left testicle to play like Phil. I could watch him all day but I'd get too jealous. Damn! Back to practising then, I guess!

I don't understand why the old Gold Tops aren't as desirable as they should be! Sounds amazing.
Brilliant stuff, love watching Phil, he`s funny, a good player and the guitars are fantastic...love it.
I was wondering how to play the intro of "Flippin' Out" that is pretty hard to understand just by ear. Then I just watched this video to see the guitar and he also explained that. He's the man.
What an awesome sounding instrument and Phil is rocking, humbly even... great guy
I like watch your videos becuase you know play anything, all the famous songs too xx
That guitar just rings. Who needs an ambient reverb. The guitar builds all by itself.
Man this guy is so good that I watched this vid and scrolled down to click the like button 4-5 times...
Phil you SMOKE on every guitar you play! Damn fun to watch! Keep it up man!
Waaaay too talented and strangely humble with it (even though he's loud). Genius.
Out of ALL the guitars Phil's reviewed this is my favourite :)
i've been doing that EVH trick since i started playing. i never had bought footswitch so i would turn down my rhythm pick up volume so the output is so low that it doesn't pick up the gain even when it's maxed, it's a sweet ass trick
Love this old videos damn watched this when it came out :)

What a great sound! I love this guitar!
Rock on, Phil. We love you man
Phil deserves a commission on any P-90 Gold Top sold by anyone anywhere from now on. I already bought a P-90 SG because of him. Gold Top and ES 335 are on the short list. Epi Sheraton is making due for now. Keep it up!
Guys i could never afford one of these guitars, but damn i love watching these videos!
I like P90’s more than Real PAF’s
I’d rather have a 55’ with wrap tail.. I’d take either..😊
Phil, I’m glad you finally got success. I don’t know another guy that deserves it more!!🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻👊🏻
David Gilmour's "Another Brick in the Wall" solo was done with his P90 on one of these Gold Top Les Paul with Bigsb. Wow! this spectacular (y)
Phil, if people didn't know you were the greatest before, this video proves it!! Priceless stuff! No kidding!!
Honestly and truly, this is THE best sounding guitar I've heard y'all demonstrate. lol i remember seeing phil x reviews every day back then in the 2010s coolest axes reviewer ever
Best sounding clean I've ever heard!!!
Of all the guitars iv seen on fretted americana that one sounds nice above all the rest, Les Paul was pure genius
the treble pickup sounds amazing
Awesome Van Hallen cover
you never cease to amaze me!!!
love the gold deluxe with the p90's the sustain is like nothing else.... which is what I love most about this guitar although I don't see him showing that off here also thought 57 was the last year for p90's

Amazing musician, astronomical guitar. I'm shooting to pick one up just searching. Love the gold top with the P90 pick ups.
I think i like this guitar more than the 59 he played.. Sounds better to my ear. Both obviously amazing instruments
While the whole switching from treble to rythmn for clean distortion luckily now we have distortion switches.
Back in the days was awesome 👍😎 now getting so motion
That thing at the end was SICK with PH!
I believe Phil X has rightfully deserved his spot amongst the guitar gods.
Paige.

DAMN Phil x you fuckin rock man! Totally insane how good you are
you managed to get through life this far without ever hearing that riff??? Wow, that's an achievement man.
I used to watch this on my N97 😍
Phil is awesome and an LP with P90's is awesome.
The best gold top Gibson ever made.
That guitar is just a tone monster!
I'm a fender player all the way but wen I finally decide on a gibby I want this exact guitar

@Glockenator I'll do that. Thanks for your help!
This popped up on my feed Dec 2021
what's that numbuh he's doin' @1:58? the one that sounds like that old 60's tune 'something in the air'.
This dude is a fuckin' legend. What a great attitude he has.
Everytime Phil plays a goldtop, Pure Magic happens. For those who disagree look up every video where he plays a goldtop & just see if you find any sub par ones. They do not exist.

That guitar looks good on you phil!
The nicest shopkeeper I've ever seen
Zep did a lot of recording on a Telecaster. The LP was just live use.
8:03 is Flippin' Out by Phil X himself
the reason the distortion is soo good is because of the tonemaster amp. dude, that thing is rare.
oh my god that guitar is what angels use in heaven, that bit starting at 1:32 is is just rad
Phil X + P90s = Awesome!
Da-yuuumm that LP sounds beyond awesome!
'This guitar's just a singer' - Phil X (made me start looking around for a P90 LP : ) and a free lesson or two, too!
