Phil X is one of a kind. I find it so funny sometimes that he kills it, on the fly, in any style, and his personal music is very power-chordy lol. I loves the Phil!
Everytime a new frettedamericana video shows up i'm really happy, but when theres none i'm very sad and thats really to often in the last months :P Keep that in mind Phil ;) And rock on! Your one of my greatest influences!
WoW!!! Phil X blew his tube with that scream! Keep rocking!!! You are simply the best and bring a smile to my face each time I see you play! In fact... here you go... Having a bad day... let Phil X chase them blues away!!! :)
@nochix96isnuts this is the video for today! and for cheap stuff, sorry that's not what we do, we are a vintage guitar shop... 1950-1970 for the most part
yeah!! great video!! b-e-a-utiful guitar...and..i had an epiphone goldtop '56 =D i already loved it..now its even cooler that he recorded my favorite drills song on a similar guitar! Rock on
He explains it in a later video! What he does it grabs the B string and actually bends it so hard that it comes off of the fretboard and on to the side of the neck! Hope that helped!
Thank you, Phil, for showing how to play Live On The Moon, it was my request. :) Still can't get the crazy sound you do by pulling the B-string off the neck though.
Normally on guitar videos I skip the talking at the start and look for the comment which says something like Playing starts at [time] (Guitar World, i'm looking at you) but I never skip any part of a Phil X video, and the intro piece was great to listen too. Guthrie Govan, Phil X, PGS Andy & Mike Caswell are the only videos I tend not to skip through even a little bit. Plus you absolutely SMOKED Paradise City, Steely Dan too! You are a rock warrior of satan himself... Keep rockin' on Phil.
Nice tones from that guitar, those P90's are HOT! Seen some new trapeze bridge replacement part in this month's VG, Rick Nielsen's apparently a proponent of it...basically replaces the center bar, turns it into a wrap-over compensated bridge.
can you do a review of the greenish Gretsch to your left cuz I wanna see if it can make an all around sound for "classic" rock along with smooth bluesy stuff. ty mate :)
@frettedamericana I second that statement, I wanna see phil x playing a squier strat or a new epiphone, just to see what you can do. And also, if you buy one of those guitars for well under 250 bucks, after phil x played it you could definently double your money on it! You know how many people would want to buy a guitar played by phil x, and featured on a fretted americana? TONS thats how many.
Im confused by the thing at the end of the Live On the moon solo. Does he bend the string off the fretbard or does he just pull op on the string a lot?
@kingred7 Don't get upset, I'm trying to help. I'm positive there is a video in which he explains it. It's in drop D tuning. If I get a chance I'll make a vid explaining it.
almost 2025 and I still can't help but go back and watch these videos. Phil X we love you!
So much Page in his playing. Gotta love this guy
never a dull moment when i watch these videos, seriously just awsome.
Phil your guitar playing makes my day everytime.
This was uploaded on my birthday! and Les Pauls are my favourite guitar!
This is a sign!
Phil X is one of a kind. I find it so funny sometimes that he kills it, on the fly, in any style, and his personal music is very power-chordy lol. I loves the Phil!
Wow, what an amazing sounding guitar. The first thing Phil played (the clean thing) sounded great
I'm amazed everytime, again and again, how Phil can has so much fun by himself, like, just by playing guitar!
Everytime a new frettedamericana video shows up i'm really happy, but when theres none i'm very sad and thats really to often in the last months :P
Keep that in mind Phil ;)
And rock on! Your one of my greatest influences!
Best day ever. I live in Canada and I just got a snow storm so school is cancelled and now a Phil X video ?!?!? I am on a roll
Each time I run into a PhilX video, I press like button before actually watching it! KEEP ROCKIN' PHIL!
WoW!!! Phil X blew his tube with that scream! Keep rocking!!! You are simply the best and bring a smile to my face each time I see you play! In fact... here you go...
Having a bad day... let Phil X chase them blues away!!! :)
this guy is awesome in every possible way and frettedamericana made an awesome job with the editing of the video
a completely kickass guitar played by a completely kickass player and signed by a completely kickass guitar legend! Now that is awesome!!!
these videos make the world a better place
I love watching your vids, they do make me smile :)
Always nice to see Philplay these guitars. Loved it when he played Misty. Besides a guitar player I am also a keyboard player.

@nochix96isnuts this is the video for today! and for cheap stuff, sorry that's not what we do, we are a vintage guitar shop... 1950-1970 for the most part

Gotta love his version of "I Wish". :D
It always cracks me up whenever he laughs at the camera guy in the beginning of the video :D
@Gitarrendhans Normally there is a new one out every Friday.... ??
It's like the evil robot was made for that guitar, love the tone you're getting from that setup!!
He explains it in a later video! What he does it grabs the B string and actually bends it so hard that it comes off of the fretboard and on to the side of the neck! Hope that helped!
Phil x playing is such a source of inspiration
PLEASE keep doin videos they make my day no matter what so keep it up PLEASE
Best sounding les paul i ever heard in my opinion
I am so glad I finally was able to see one of the videos before the 302 view mark.
guitar sounds AWESOME. phil, you too!
Dude. You're brilliant. Keep on rockin'
Thank you, Phil, for showing how to play Live On The Moon, it was my request. :)
Still can't get the crazy sound you do by pulling the B-string off the neck though.
paradise city...goddammit, such a good voice
That is an awesome history!
Wow that vocal at 5:00 Ab awesome.
such a sweet sounding guitar :)
caranba o cara toca e canta muito show de bola!!!
Normally on guitar videos I skip the talking at the start and look for the comment which says something like Playing starts at [time] (Guitar World, i'm looking at you) but I never skip any part of a Phil X video, and the intro piece was great to listen too. @OurBand1234 It's actually called 'The Les Paul'. It's a brilliant axe man. They've done a demo, but that was 2009 I think, they should do it again.
another great video ! thanks guys.....
Wow, this guitar sounds UNREAL! Such great pick attack, clear & thick! Although without Phil playing it, it wouldn't be making any sound at all!
we are back to clean because this guitar kicks ass, well said Phil, Well said indeed
Nice tones from that guitar, those P90's are HOT! Seen some new trapeze bridge replacement part in this month's VG, Rick Nielsen's apparently a proponent of it...basically replaces the center bar, turns it into a wrap-over compensated bridge.
chorus just ties right into the jazzy intro.
@Gitarrendhans video is a video ... No??
who doesn't love "Misty"
the way that LP rings... OH MY GOD!!! SO AWESOME AND GOOD THAT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!!!! and Phil rocks no matter the style he plays... DAMN!!!! XD
Awesome episode :D!
ok that bass/9 chord thing is amazing!
If you had kids I bet you CRACK them up with bed time stories! Like hearing the History on this Guitar!
I really wish Phil would learn how to play....play on the moon!!! *BAM*
Another very cool, smokin' video!!
On sunday will you be at NAMM? I'm flying out from the east coast and am trying to figure out how to get in and check out all the gear. Any ideas? :-)
can you do a review of the greenish Gretsch to your left cuz I wanna see if it can make an all around sound for "classic" rock along with smooth bluesy stuff. ty mate :)
heej phil, i just bought a new guitar. And you inspired me to finally actualy buy it...and gues what it's fcking AWESOME. Thank you and you rock!!
What about intonation, is it possible to do that on this guitar?
Great video by the way!
You guys should use a dynamic mic with a mic stand so there is no extra sound that gets picked up and mixes with the miked amp
5:03 A ton of car horns went off right at that moment, in Panama CITY!! Haha perfect timing
I lost it hard when he was doin paradise city. Phil you fucking rock dude!
new video from FA and today is my birthday !!!
Can you guys do a video on that blue strat in the background?
@DanDeePee you can also sign in to get an email when they upload something
@sbosuna It's not the flame, those are really small cracks in the nitro lacquer that appear after 50 years ;)
Phil, you never cease to amaze, man!
Phil X you sir are awsome
It's an old jazz standard called Misty by Erroll Garner
@frettedamericana I second that statement, I wanna see phil x playing a squier strat or a new epiphone, just to see what you can do.
And also, if you buy one of those guitars for well under 250 bucks, after phil x played it you could definently double your money on it! You know how many people would want to buy a guitar played by phil x, and featured on a fretted americana? TONS thats how many.
Wow Phil’s got pipes ngl
nice jazz chords, Phil
Can you do a review on a Danelectro Shorthorn if you have one?
Wow this is one of the first goldtops I like :o
Yes! Just yes Phil!
Great guitar
Hey, can u do the flamed Les Paul on right side o phil x??(6º guitar on 1:02)
@kingred7 It's not that hard to figure out. I think in another vid he explains it and goes over it slowly. Can't remember what video though.
Please do a leson on the first set of chords you played... :) would be really nice :D
Im confused by the thing at the end of the Live On the moon solo. Does he bend the string off the fretbard or does he just pull op on the string a lot?
Wait is that flame that I see thru the gold? Or is that a reflection?
Phil x and a les paul. A match made in heaven
still looks amaaazzzzzziiiiiiinnnnngggg
12:05 is the basic vintage les paul lick played perfectly
So the intro music... those are the same lyrics for beautiful apartment, right?
What ever happened to episode III of the namm show 2011?
10:15 3 years younger, Phil.
are the parallel lines on the front cracks?
@kingred7 Don't get upset, I'm trying to help. I'm positive there is a video in which he explains it. It's in drop D tuning. If I get a chance I'll make a vid explaining it.
This Les Paul is in a VERY good condition!!
That is the first signature on a guitar that doesn't ruin the look of the guitar but add's character.
The guitar that you recorded was actually not 3 yrs older but 3 years younger :D It came yrs later than this one, Phil
