I was just talking to a really cool dude parked in his 79 911SC (it was a beater car peeling paint surface rust - not outlaw - just tired paint) just this arvo (at Thirroul Beach) and the prices of 911s in Australia in the last 5 or so years have doubled. He bought it for $35k 15 years ago, and now its work about $100k (about 170,000kms). I said to him it's the internet that's driving up these prices it's getting ridiculous. It's a bit like the old 1959 Les Paul phenomenon. It's like the pre-internet price trend has suddenly been steepened and natural rises (pre internet) are now being bought forward years for capital gain. Just an interesting observation on how everyone now knows market values including the effect of internet videos on the market, but that's the world we live in.

The majority of these cars are 20-40K, so appreciation can’t be more than a few thousand dollars and at most $10K. And then you add in taxes, registration, dealer’s fees, etc, how much is really left for Doug to pocket? And in order to make a decent amount of “commissions” that make this worthwhile, he needs to have quite a few friends with the resources to buy a large enough stock of these cars. Buying a few also won’t affect demand much, they need to buy hundreds of these cars nationwide. However, the more people, dealerships, and cars are involved, the more likely such scheme would be exposed. Considering how much he makes from RUclips and Cars & Bids, he doesn’t have much to gain by doing this shady thing, but have A TON to lose if it’s exposed. Who’s going to want to watch someone who does this type of thing? And more importantly, who’s going to trust Cars & Bids to provide a fair platform for buying/selling cars? His entire career would be ruined for a few thousand dollars he could have easily made from a video. Doug may act goofy, but he’s certainly not stupid. RS2 Avant undervalued?? For sure not in Scandinavia / Germany. The prices are insane. Agree with you on the RS4 B7, and thats why I got one last year. Also, one you need to add, is the S8 V10 D3, and of course the B5 RS4 Avant, which is going up and up and up in value. Cheers

Apart from value, it is a really enjoyable analog car. I feel like certain 80s Japanese cars will be up next, you can still find reasonably nice Celicas and Supras of the era for not much and I've noticed a trend online of more people (and questionable modders in particular) swinging for them because its a cool car a high schooler can afford.

I would recommend a 540i. No it’s not an m5 but it’s about 75% of the way there and you can find nice ones for under $10 grand. I just picked one up with 80k miles for $8200

AMGs from 1990s-2000s will always hold value as it was era when AMG was actually special unlike today when you see AMG on everything I’m happy we have 07 E63 & 05 S55 in our garage since new.

If anyone knows about EAG, those guys are singlehandedly responsible for blowing up “vintage” M car values. I think the most satisfying thing about FINALLY finding a clean example of an E36 coupe was not being anxious about them being mentioned in RUclips videos while trying to find one.

I have an 02 Tacoma TRD 4x4 that I paid $9000 for three years back. I bet I could get $11,000 for it right now. Still has under 200,000 miles. Any 4x4 tacoma in good shape should be shooting up in value. I'm even thinking about buying a daily driver to keep the mileage down. But then again, screw it, you only live once. Had a 2004 E55 purchased new at the time. In 2013, it caught on fire at the supermarket, fuel sender problem, and that was the end of it. Thankfully, no other cars were harmed.

W211 E55 AMG, especially the wagon. I was able to buy a wagon last year for $23k, which still amazes me. They only sold ~120 in the US EVER... They will be $$$ in the very near future.

I feel like 3rd gen MR2’s fit in that early 2000 jdm car list where else can you find a reliable fun mid engined sports car for under 10k granted some examples are already higher than 10k but I’ve seen some clean ones as low as 5k.
My Father-in-law owns a 996 Carrera. He definitely agrees with you that they drive better than the previous generations. And once you replace the IMS bearing, they're more reliable. Those air-cooled 911s were always so hard to keep in tune.
I think the 2004 era Volvo s60r/ v70r with the spaceball manual are highly undervalued, you can get one in good shape for under $10,000, one of the first cars with drive modes

I've owned 2 cars that you mentioned in here, a Mitsubishi Evo VIII and an S55 AMG. My experience with the Evo was very foul. Broke 2 days after fixing it when it broke. It wasn't stock, but still a pain. A stock one will definitely climb. The S55 I still have and it's so worth those repair bills. Drives wonderfully and is so much faster than you expect. It has virtually no body roll with the ABC suspension, you can beat on the engine forever and it won't quit on you. At speed, it's so quiet and comfortable that you forget how fast you're going and what kind of monster you're driving. Call me biased, but that is definitely worth more than what I paid for it. What a car!
Massively undervalued. Only 50+ saloons on UK road, examples going for as low as 7k, very reliable engine and drivetrain, sleek design, minimal rust issues, highly common W203 model with a subtle clk front to accommodate the 5.4l V8, could a car be any more of a sleeper?

Videos like this piss me off because honestly this just inflates the value of the cars that were considered great buys for younger car enthusiasts man and now ones like the acura tl type s are going to become harder to acquire at an affordable price point. Such is life though I guess :( Still crazy to think that I passed up on a e30 m3 with like 4xxxx miles that was for sale for 8k back in like 2012.

AMGs from 1990s-2000s will always hold value as it was era when AMG was actually special unlike today when you see AMG on everything

If anyone knows about EAG, those guys are singlehandedly responsible for blowing up “vintage” M car values. I love their mission when it comes to restoring amazing M cars (E39 M5/E46 M3), but it’s nuts what they’ve been charging.

@@yungboicontigo9278 Again, the only difference from the same year Supra is the body and interior styling. The Merc and BMW models you cited were much more expensive when new and, in equivalent condition, have much higher value as used vehicles.
@@damilolaakanni I have a '94 SC300 with factory 5-speed manual, which I purchased used in '97. Among other mods it has a turbocharger. On the dyno it has 338 rwhp at a modest 13 psi boost.

I don't think you realize what a small fraction of the global car market Cars and Bids makes up. Also worth noting that not everything on his list is even eligible to be listed on Cars and Bids due to the era of cars he consigns there.

I feel the xterra, especially first Gen, will appreciate a lot over time. Pretty solid cars, they look good imo, and are stupid undervalued vs anything toyota. FJs are pretty high already and they were direct competitors. Pro 4x models of will be sought after soon. I just went to my local Ford dealer and broncos are 70k. I live in LA and all the rich kids are slurping them up. Even the lil maverick is over sticker per both my local Ford dealers.
Does that mean my high mileage 96 Tahoe will be worth 4k?
I have an 02 Tacoma TRD 4x4 that I paid $9000 for three years back. I bet I could get $11,000 for it right now. Still has under 200,000 miles. Any 4x4 tacoma in good shape should be shooting up in value. I'm even thinking about buying a daily driver to keep the mileage down.
But then again, screw it, you only live once. And I like driving it 😉
Had a 2004 E55 purchased new at the time. In 2013, it caught on fire at the supermarket, fuel sender problem, and that was the end of it. Thankfully, no other cars were harmed.

The 5-cylinder Volvo R models, not just the P2 V70R which has been fetching some high prices recently, but the S60R and P80 850R and V70R models as well, finding good clean ones is becoming tougher and tougher….the P2s are going through attrition via modding and neglect as we speak

I had a 350z and knew this. Unfortunately it was totaled, got a chunk of $ and bought a 370z. Not for the future factor, but because I loved how the 350 drove. It was special.
I feel like 3rd gen MR2’s fit in that early 2000 jdm car list where else can you find a reliable fun mid engined sports car for under 10k granted some examples are already higher than 10k but I’ve seen some clean ones as low as 5k.
My Father-in-law owns a 996 Carrera. He definitely agrees with you that they drive better than the previous generations. And once you replace the IMS bearing, they're more reliable. Those air-cooled 911s were always so hard to keep in tune.

I've owned 2 cars that you mentioned in here, a Mitsubishi Evo VIII and an S55 AMG. My experience with the Evo was very foul. Broke 2 days after fixing it when it broke. It wasn't stock, but still a pain. A stock one will definitely climb. The S55 I still have and it's so worth those repair bills. Drives wonderfully and is so much faster than you expect. It has virtually no body roll with the ABC suspension, you can beat on the engine forever and it won't quit on you. At speed, it's so quiet and comfortable that you forget how fast you're going and what kind of monster you're driving. Call me biased, but that is definitely worth more than what I paid for it. What a car!

Massively undervalued. Only 50+ saloons on UK road, examples going for as low as 7k, very reliable engine and drivetrain, sleek design, minimal rust issues, highly common W203 model with a subtle clk front to accommodate the 5.4l V8, could a car be any more of a sleeper?
