The Cizeta *and* the Cadillac Cien were featured in Gran Turismo 4, which I played to death as a kid, and the Nissan R390 is notably in Forza Horizon 5. Doug, the Cadillac Cien was actually produced. GM made three of them. They were featured in the movie "The Island" starring Ewan McGregor & Scarlett Johansson. The V12, and two versions with a V8, one manual transmission, one automatic. In the commentary for the film, Ewan even goes in depth as to how cautious everyone on set had to be around the car & yes, he did drive one of the three...though he never states which version. GM went so far as to accept deposits for the car (I should know as my father put down a deposit & still has the deposit paperwork somewhere. If I find it, I'll email to you). A interesting sidenote to all this, GM kept all three at their Detroit facility where they stored many of the important & unique cars. About 5 years after being stored GM wanted to show them...and one of them, the V8 manual transmission was missing. To date, it has never been found or seen.

    • @megachonk9440
      @megachonk9440 Год назад +2

      Just looking at this comment section, it's obvious that the ME Four Twelve isn't a supercar that "nobody has heard of". In fact, anybody who is into supercars is almost certainly aware of it. It was pretty big news at the time, and Motor Trend even got to drive it at Laguna Seca. But there was never really any hope of it actually going to production. It would have cost something like a billion dollars in development work to get it production-ready, just to sell a few hundred cars. Their German overlords were also not exactly thrilled that Chrysler was building a better car than anything Mercedes or AMG could come up with. I'm guessing they weren't exactly overjoyed that SRT took the best engine AMG had and re-engineered it to make it better. Even if it had made economic sense to build this car and sell it as a Chrysler (and it absolutely did not), it seems unlikely that it would have actually happened because of the internal politics, and Mercedes not willing to be outdone by Chrysler.
      And so the company that designed and actually built what would have likely been the greatest supercar of its era in 2004 will go into 2024 selling the 4th best of the 4 minivans on the market in North America.

It was a concept car, meant to be the spiritual successor to the original GT-40, that never went into full production but one model was made for show in 1995. It has a quad turbo V-12 which is crazy to think about coming from Ford especially in the 90's and is currently on display in Oklahoma. There's at least one video online that I know of showing the car running with its proper drivetrain and it sounds phenomenal. I remember the Cizeta Moroder V16 making into the cover of popular car magazines back then. It was the actual design that Countach designer Marcello Gandini had for the new Lamborghini Diablo. When the latter "watered down" his radical design to suit new owner wishes, which was Chrysler, he turned to CZ & Moroder to make his envisioned dream come true: The V16T. It also had another major quirkiness: That massive engine is mounted transversely and the output shaft draws from the middle of the conjoined V8 blocks that comprises it.

    I've seen the Monaco-based Aixam-Mega Track you mention, Doug, and it staggered me by how enormous it was. I love the idea of a huge go-anywhere off road super-coupe with a Mercedes V12 (if it's from the S600, then it's the engine that would end up in the first few 6.0-litre Pagani Zondas and it sounds AMAZING with the right exhaust on it).
    And then, while snooping around Monaco on a day trip, I also saw an Italdesign Aztec parked discreetly in an underground car park. I had thought they only ever made one, so I was stunned to find it. Even then, until seeing this video I thought there were only four or five - I had no idea there were as many as 18 to 20.
    Because of the alphabetical list, I'd expected the final car to be the amazing Yamaha OX99-11 (and was slightly disappointed that it wasn't!) Another very obscure but incredibly cool car which I really wish had been made.

    I’ve seen a Cizeta-Moroder V16T at the La Jolla Concours in California, and a placard described the details well.
    Fun fact: the “T” means transverse, since the V16 is mounted sideways as seen at 5:38. The power takeoff to the transaxle is from the CENTER of the engine (splitting it into two V8s), not the end of the crankshaft. Bizarre…

  • @ЕвгенийПермяков-з1ц

    The interesting thing about the Cizeta is that the V-16s are two V-8s (albeit with a total volume of 5.6 liters) docked longitudinally. And they stand across the body!
    And the 575 Zagato always reminded me the Russian Volga 3110 car. Moreover, the rear lights look like the front lights.

    One of my personal favourite supercars that no one has heard of is the RH Alurad Rhapsody (also known as the RHapsody)
    RH Alurad is a German wheel manufacturer which decided to create a crazy supercar during the early 90s. The car itself is based on the chassis and engine of a C4 Corvette ZR1 but tuned to ~550hp. It had an extremely smooth body designed by Scala Design resulting in a low drag coefficient which helped it reach a claimed top speed of 355km/h while testing at the Nardo Ring, this would’ve made it the fastest production car of all time up until that point. The engine was later detuned to 408hp as the car suffered reliability issues.
    Rüdiger Höffken was the CEO of RH Alurad at this time but it later went bankrupt in 2008 and he was charged with tax evasion. RH Alurad would be revived two years later although Höffner no longer had any involvement in the company

    The Cadillac Cien was actually in the concept car section of the Gran Turismo games! This is one that gets me. My friend sends me a blurry picture of a really amazing looking 80's Italian super car. At first I could not figure out what it was. Looked sort of like a Lambo but the styling was different on key aspects. Turns out it was a De Tomaso Pantera! In the wild, driving down the highway.

    Loads of these cars appeared in Gran Turismo. The M12 was in 2, the R390 was in 2 and 7, the Cizeta was in 4,5 and 6 and the Cien was every game since gt concept except gt sport, I thought they did it best in 4, it was one of, if not my favourite car in it. I completely agree they really should’ve made it. It was in the 2005 film “the island” and 2014“transformers age of extinction”, I saw both in the cinema and recognised it instantly. The island is a futuristic sci-fi film and it’s right at home and I also agree ppl say cars are timeless but it’s used too much but it’s so true for that car, maybe in 50 years if designs change, it’ll look like a time period but it’s already 20 years old and it still looks new, look at a car from 2002 and compare.

    Fun Fact: The Cadillac Cien is seen by thousands of people EVERY DAY, some are just unaware what they are actually looking at. At gas stations, there's a popular brand of registers by the name of Verifone. The touch screen models are widely used and the software doesn't change much even when updated. When a customer picks up the nozzle and wants to fill first and then pay inside (something many stores do not do, or is reserved for well known customers) an image of a car comes up on the pump button, as the register dings to alert the attendant someone wants approval. That image is of a tiny Cadillac Cien driving up.
