I watched this with a smile and a tear. I am 51 years old and grew up with this man. Laughed at his great timing and humour. And he still has that sense of humour. I'm so glad he got this Oscar.

I literally cried at the beauty of the man. Even struggling with his health, his humour, sense of community and sheer joy is just so selfless. Gosh how we miss him in public. So much James Stewart in him I never noticed, but there it is. Just endearing. Doc Hollywood personified doing good and leaving his legacy. So special

I loved him in my childhood in the early 90s, and never heard about his. Used to wonder what happened to him. Been missing from the spot light. And in 2002 I learned in my college, biology class, that he is suffering from Parkinsonism. Heart broken! And when I see him now. I mean with his sense of humour, and his speech! Just, what an amazing human being he is!

2 of my favorite actors. Oddly enough Cheers followed Family Ties in the Thursday night line up in the 80s. Michael is such a great optimistic human being. I'm from the city he was born in (Edmonton Ab). Hope the town honors him in some way one day.

Humor is partly a defense mechanism, you need it to get through difficult moments, behind that there is also pain but that's part of it
Such a sad thing that such a terrible disease had to interrupt his life and career, the things he would have done if he would have no fallen Ill would have been truly amazing. But it still didn't diminish him being an amazing person with a big heart.
