Parkinson’s is ‘modelled’ in marmosets is by giving marmoset monkeys a series of injections of a chemical called MPTP. This is known to cause severely debilitating, distressing effects and Parkinson-like symptoms, including paralysis and total loss (or extreme slowness) of movement, rigidity, loss of vocalisation, lack of muscle movement including eye rigidity, lack of coordination, uncontrollable body tremors and a hunched posture. The Michael J Fox Foundation (MJFF) Partnering Program describes how MJFF awarded Neurolixis four grants between 2011 and 2014 and that ‘The next step is to evaluate NLX-112 in PD patients with moderate to severe LID in a Phase 2 clinical study’.

Life isn’t cruel. People are just getting diseases we have no cure for and haven’t researched enough so they are dying… My mom is fighting this, she also has severe scoliosis too! She can barely stand up! And I don’t feel they will find a cure like with so many cancers they have no cure.. the medication my mom is on causes all kinds of other issues too!

This is his path... from the love & knowing him as with christopher reeves they have taken major steps to combat the disease. If he was a nobody the message wouldn't be carried out as it is. Much love & respect for the work he is doing & It is sad to have depression everyday in that i hope for all that suffer depression, we all deserve some happiness.

@@neeshx you should google it.. you dont die from the desease itself but the desease causes complications in the body.. like limits moving and talking .. and parts of the brain starts not to fuction anymore .. swallowing problems is also something that can happen.. so due to these complications these people can die sooner than a healthy person.. but there is also people that can live a very long life with parkinsons desease just like a healty person..it just depense on what complications the parkinsons desease gives ..

It is due to the actions of Micheal J. Fox. When I was diagnosed back in 2013 that I figured my days of playing guitar were over. Sometime after that where I saw he was playing guitar, and it wasn't tired old footage, but he was rockin' on a cool Les Paul. So I figured if he can do it...and not long after that I got a whole new rig and feel wonderful to be playing again.
So Michael, if you're out there man, THANK YOU! I never played blues with more soul until that happy moment!😊❤

I have to say, it is truly inspirational to see someone who has a life altering disease stand up and fight to live everyday to the fullest. Im sure it can be so easy to just give up and become a recluse and never come outside to see the light of day. As for myself, I have no idea how i would react or carry on with any disease that has such a life changing effect. Hopefully, i will never have to find out. I only know that when I see someone who stands tall every minute of the day and fights with all their might to be all that they can be, I am not only inspired but proud to be a small part of what makes the human race so special. If my will, strength, and determination were only 20 percent of the people I see who fight daily against seemingly insurmountable odds, I too would stand proud knowing I also possess just a small place in my heart to help not only to lift others up when they may be down, but to also help to make our world just a little better place to be.

Omg!!! Michael is so loving and intelligent! Despite his condition he seems relatively normal and so relaxed and completely intact and sound of mind! Thank God and his family…. I applaud them!!!

I hope so with all my heart. My life partner's father lived with Parkinson's for decades. Now her brother has been diagnosed with it.

Ironically, cannabis seems to help people (in a way) who suffer from Parkinson's, Cerebral palsy/severe austism and Tourette's. There are videos of that. I don't know if Michael ever considered.

One of my heroes, after hearing him speak about living with an illness I learned how to deal with my own. I don't know where the road leads but I still smile and tell the people I love the most that I love them every day. Some days are more difficult than others but I just appreciate the good days that much more.

My mom just passed away from end stage Parkinson's. She also suffered from dementia, and finally a stroke that paralyzed the left side of her body. I really hope researchers find a cure to this horrible disease.
