  • Please visit www.simonreeve.... for more information.Simon Reeve finds marijuana growing wild by the roadside in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, while making his TV series Meet the Stans. The Meet the Stans series took Simon from the far north-west of Kazakhstan, by the Russian border, east to the Chinese border, south through Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to the edge of Afghanistan, and west to Uzbekistan and the legendary Silk Road cities of Samarkand and Bukhara.
    The Guardian said it was a thrilling postcard from the edge
    The Times said: Simon Reeves journey through Kazakhstan is a first-class Boys Own adventure on film and illuminating too. I cant imagine anyone switching off who stays for the first five minutes.
    Simon Reeve is a bestselling author and broadcaster. In recent years hes travelled to scores of countries around the world for a series of BBC television documentaries.
    The 2008 BBC TV series Tropic of Capricorn took Simon around the line marking the southern border of the tropics. His accompanying book, also called Tropic of Capricorn, is published by BBC Books.
    In the BBC series Equator, Simon followed the equator through troubled areas of Africa, Asia and Latin America, including Colombia and the Congo.
    In Places That Dont Exist, Simon travelled through a group of unrecognised nations countries so obscure they dont officially exist.
    And in Meet the Stans, Simon visited the Central Asian states of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
    Simons book The New Jackals: Ramzi Yousef, Osama bin Laden and the future of terrorism, which warned of a new age of apocalyptic terrorism, was the first in the world on bin Laden and al Qaeda. Originally published in 1998 it has been a New York Times bestseller.
    Simon has contributed to other books on organised crime, terrorism and biological warfare. His book One Day in September: the story of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, is also an Oscar-winning feature documentary film narrated by the actor Michael Douglas.
    Simon has received a One World Broadcasting Trust award for an outstanding contribution to greater world understanding.

    Dude, this happened once in Southern California, off the side of the 91 Fwy in Diamond Bar. Weed was growing left and right, wildly and police finally took it all out after possibly years of it being there and no one noticing. Or so they think.

    LOL, he says that if Cannabis was growing like that in Europe no one would get any work done...this is wrong for one reason, if Cannabis freely grew like this in Europe people would become farmers of it just like they are in the Himalayas, Africa and the East. The truth is that Cannabis creates work if people are willing to use it to its full benefit.

    • @Joey59101
      @Joey59101 9 лет назад +4

      Someone should remind him it is growing in Europe and people are still getting work done.

    • @tonyoliver6797
      @tonyoliver6797 8 лет назад +1

      I realise I shouldn't have mentioned the East, but if you look at the living that growing Cannabis has created and is still doing so for people in the Himalayas, the Caribbean and Africa. People are just about sustaining themselves on the farming of this stuff - imagine if they were permitted to do so on a much larger commercial scale.

    in pakistan, india, china, afghanistan, Kazakhstan...all these countries have wild marijuana growing abundantly and the most of the local ppl dont care...its just a weed. but there are many users too, who love smoking hash that is made from that weed. when you can chop down some wild buds, dry them, and smoke them..it makes you respect that plant, and all the 'coolness' and taboo associated with it goes out the window. its just a part of nature.

  • @dannz2603

    I have traveled in many areas where cannabis grows wild and yes it is considered a weed and a real pest, it seemed like any patch of uncultivated land was covered in the stuff. I used to curse it as after walking through it for any length of time my boots and trouser legs would be covered in the sticky resin from the plants and it was really hard to get it off.
    My take on why people don't bother smoking marijuana is why would they when they can buy a chocolate block sized block of hashish for practically nothing.

    If they think it's such garbage then they clearly haven't been brought up to date about the medicinal benefits of marijuana, such as combating cancer and depression, among other things. You don't have to smoke it at all you can turn it into oils and food additives which are good for your body, being high in the process is just a benefit.

  • @THEGREATONE420
    @THEGREATONE420 9 лет назад +1

    people saying that this is hemp or low thc are wrong. it grows wild all through central asia, northern india. this is actually where lots of the most potent strains come from. kush is named after the hindu kush mountains in northern india. of course the males aren't removed so they don't fruit properly.
    in panjab (northern india) it's considered a pest plant, grows for thousands of km by the roadside along farms. only people that use it are poor people and low class people. you can see them by the road side hand rubbing hash. the upper classes stick to booze... lol

    • @Loco801
      @Loco801 9 лет назад

      I highly doubt that. it's different to have ditch weed and then a plant grown in a controlled environment with fertilizer and tlc by humans, also not to mention cross breeding. there's no telling what that weed even is.

    • @THEGREATONE420
      @THEGREATONE420 9 лет назад +1

      +H Majhail I know there's strains that originate in some areas that are dank, but roadside weed like this is usually bunk. There's a good reason it's there, everyone knows it's crappy weed haha.

    • @THEGREATONE420

    Growing marijuana on purpose by the side of the road in the USA was a famous passtime that was called Guerrilla Farming.
    The side of the roads, near off-ramps etc, was claimed to be 'no-mans-land; and so people grew dope without being done for it on their own land.
