This is my main vlogging camera, and I personally love it
How does it handle still photos though? I don’t shoot videos at all, just looking for a good still shooter with awesome zoom
@@TellurdogIsayhi its good, I bought it 6 days ago. im very happy with it
I'm going to buy iy because it does not have a touch screen just a pain on a small compact camera.
How do you get it to shoot 4K?
How about taking video in low light? It's good enough?
I was not gonna invest in this camera but after watching this I'm totally gonna buy this one day!
Did you and was it worth every penny?
Did you totally buy it?
I've got the 730, same but just 1080 and it's so useful. The zoom is amazing for the size/price. If you just want 1 reasonable compact camera, I definitely recommend these.
Nice review. I have been using the much older SX700 as an "Every day - Everywhere Carry". YES, most current mirrorless cameras and DSLRs are way better. But this is super light, super small .. and way better than the smartphone camera.
Improvements over my old model:
1. Longer zoom 30X >> 40X
2. 1080HD >> 4K
3. Higher resolution: 16 >> 20 megapixel
4. Fixed Screen >> Tilt Screen
Is this line "perfect" .. of course not, but it can do quite a bit and it can fill a niche.
For me, it's worth upgrading from my old model as an every day camera.
I love my SX740 HS. Replaced my Panasonic DC-ZS70 with it. It's great to have a pocket sized super zoom for easily getting up close to things when I don't want to lug around a huge lens for my X-T3
In what ways is the SX740 HS better than the DC-ZS70 in terms of video and picture quality?
I can't believe you dont have more subscribers. Definitely see the passion and effort you put in.
For the price it’s a great camera! I’m impressed with the zoom feature!
Honestly you wont believe me but I have been waiting to see this video. Great video keep it up
Oh nice! Hopefully it was worth the wait.
“If I can figure it out you can to” idk why but that was very helpful 😂😂
That sure sounds like decent audio from a built-in mic. By the way, this is the best camera/technology review for the "Average Joe" or "Average Jill" out there. Thanks for doing this for us!
Love point and shoots, thanks for this.
Nice! I'm a pretty big fan myself 👍
Cool stuff! Just ordered my ronin sc! Excited to upload videos on it :)
I really want this camera now! honest and to the point review.
Great review I wish you had tested it in low light conditions..
im not a genius when it comes to cameras but the fact it can zoom so far out is exactly what i want, i am always in situations where i want to record something that is a little far away and my iphone 11 is garbage when it comes to zooming. it also has a 60 fps option at full HD and 720p hd which is amazing!
I bought this over the weekend and already used for two my videos. I like it so far, but I was a bit disappointed to see there was no input for an external mic. Also, they couldn’t afford to include a USB cord in the box?
I just bought this camera for my wife. She can no longer hold her full size canon dslr camera. Great review by the way. It’s been along time since I have left a comment but thanks for the great review.
This was suer helpful, thank you!
what would you prefer to use as a vlogging camera or recording a regular video??
Hello
Can you make another video on how to select the best settings for indoor with low lighting and outdoor with perfect lighting?
Really loved this video thank you
Works pretty much like my Olympus SH-1, + longer zoom, +4k, but less battery life. Nikon A1000 has a viewfinder. Will look at both when my SH-1 gives up (no service available for it).
what camera would you suggest for blogging roughly around the same price range?
This is a great review! I have one coming in as a gift someone so it will be a nice start. I was also wandering what would be some good editing software to use for windows?
Hi what's the settings used in the video? I'm having hard time with mine 2020
The compact zoom is the biggest attraction to this camera. Can we get some low light zoom tests? Compact zoom lenses vary. Some focus better in low light than others.
I must say it is a great Video-Logging-camera with 4K. Did my last video for my channel with the camera. It is a huge update compared to my former videos. Also it is great for quick photos. The size is perfect. I love the cam!
I've just debated to myself whether to get this camera or smartphone camera. Finally, I got a smartphone, LG V40 to be precise. They literally have the similar sensor size, though LG has 1/2.6". Only thing I'd consider Canon is the zoom functionality beside V40 has manual control, 4K60, wider lens, raw and cheaper.
I have this camera and love it!
Is it better than your cellphone? The pixel count is not much more than my cellphone. Looking for a decent family camera
would you recommend using a nikon coolpix p7700 in 2019?
I have this camera and while traveling its great. Worth every penny.
I have a DSLR but I am looking for a good point and shoot camera to take camping/backpacking with me. If you wouldn't recommend this camera, what else would you suggest?
To me -- in your RUclips video on my 47" HD TV, the SX740 4K looked more like your 1080p from other cameras. It did not look as tack-sharp as your videos with 4K from m43 and larger sensor cameras (I actually went back and compared on my TV) -- how good is the 1080p from the SX740??? As a first-step (due to the low price) into 4K, it's probably OK -- but once a person gets a larger-sensor 4K camera with sharper 4K, you would not want to use the SX740 as a b-roll camera because the viewer would see the difference. But maybe for a "camcorder" alternative for "Home Movie Dad" it's not a bad choice -- for the money.... Thank you again for doing all of this!
honestly I thought the indoor B camera film looked amazing for such a small sensor.
Great video. Was just wondering how I would add an external microphone to this camera to record videos? Such as a Blue Yeti microphone. This camera does not have a spot to attach the audio cables that come with the Blue Yeti. It only has a USB and HDMI component. Would I just have to use OBS to record my audio portion using an external microphone then sync the audio and video files on my editing software?
Hey there hope you're fine, I'm on the look out for a vlogging camera and have a budget around 350 dollars, which one should I go for, could you please help me out here, thanks.
Thank you for this. Im looking for beginner camera for art vlog. I think this cam is good
For me, point n shoots in general are interesting until they get north of $300. Then I start thinking used Interchangeable lens cameras...although I will look up super zooms on occasion. That said, I still mess around with my 8 year old Canon SX 230HS from time to time. It works great for a pocket camera and shoots 1080 / 24. If this one checks the boxes for someone there's nothing wrong with that.
There is now a white box around my screen when I am video recording and it doesn’t seem to take up the full screen anymore . Anyone know how to fix this!
Q: I set the dial to "scene" and I select "miniature effect" but whenever I shoot video, I don't get the miniature effect. I just get regular video. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you.
?not for 4k?
Is it possible to add a better lens to it?
Very true nothing wrong with the auto mode especially if your vlogging out in the elements with these small point n shoot cameras. Unless they have a built in nd filter manual mode can be tough. Loved the video i made a similar one a few weeks ago on a long zoom camera the lumix zs60. Looking forward to your next one have a great night!!👍👍
Thanks so much! And heck yes auto mode is totally fine.
Nice review!
Im looking for a travel photograph camera… this one is a good option?? Or y’all recommend me another one??
How come my videos are blurry with it? What setting should I put? I also can't connect the rode microphone to it
I personally don't think it's a vlogging camera either. It's more of a quick point and shoot camera. where you quickly take a pic or get a good zoom picture
Can we use it as a webcam with canon's new app?
It's a great little point and shot that is great if you want auto everything and jpg. I have been using this for quite a while with great results assuming you don't want great control of the camera. That focal range and zoom is amazing for a travel camera.
Yeah I actually like it more then I thought I would. But the deal breaker for me is no manual control in video mode.
@@TheEverydayDad yeah that does stink one on hand but makes it easy in the other hand at least for vlogging. I wish we could close that iris a bit more on those sunny days.
Photo Gear Fun by manual does that mean you cant even change the exposure when taking videos???
@@MonJahrenel That's right you basically have no manual control when shooting video. The shutter speed, aperture, and ISO are set by the camera.
Photo Gear Fun but can you atleast change the exposure? Read somewhere that you have to press the up button to enable the exposure slider on video mode
I shoot wildlife and i have a super telephoto that I shoot handheld with and by the end of my day, get super tired. Planning to keep one of these to keep handy after i pack my gear. Great review though :)
You can change the video recording settings to 1080p 60fps?
Looks a real cool little camera I doubt I could seriously improve on anything the auto settings offer me.The zoom looks awesome just what I want.
Would you recommend it for travel photography?
Hi guys how are you doing today ? , I want to start vlogging but I'm still confused to choose the right camera ,. Could you help me please ????
I just got one an love it I say go for it guys
Nice review. What would be the next price level up from this camera in the Canon lineup that would have dual pixel autofocus while being small size and price with a reasonable lens reach?
I saw other videos compare this camera with the Canon Mark 2 g7x it costs a good bit more
@@JalenBlevins ouch on the lot more. thanks for the info. :-)
Does this make the blurry background while video recording???
Would you take this one over a Pana ZS80 ?
Mình ở Việt Nam mua như thế nào bạn ?
Great video. I really enjoyed how you harped on the name. I have the HX730HS addition, Then I upgraded to Canon T6 then GoPro Hero 7 Black, And now use the Canon SL2. 1080 HD is good enough for me. As a visually impaired person who makes Talking head RUclips videos 4K does not appeal to me at all.
Have it for hiking and snapping photos of birds (usually far away) and it does great for that.
Is it good enough for taking pictures of my canvas paintings for prints?
Is it good for a main video camera for a starter youtuber? Like not as a vlog camera
nice man thanks for sharing
Why arent material listed, I wish to know if its plastic or metal, this one is plastic but is the g7x and g9x too?
Does it have manual mode in 1080p video recording?
What settings/mode do you use for this camera?
Good review. I have used mine for about 3 months and it is all I was hoping it would be. The telephoto images are excellent, I would have to spend a lot more for a larger camera and a lens to do what this camera does out of the box. I am not a professional photographer/videographer but I get the results I want. I upload the images to my IPad and can do a lot with my photo editing to come up with some really striking images. I can connect the card to my TV and watch the images and recording on a larger screen than my IPad. Looking forward to some great wildlife shots.
Can you review the charging? How long does the charge last? Someone else in the comments says it doesn’t last long at all 🫤
@@rinal1315 I’m not sure how long it lasts, but I would guess it would not last all day. I got a second battery. The camera really takes great pictures.
Try SX70
Manual video
Manual focus
EVF! I never use screen
No accidental changes because of accidental touches
I have M6m2 use wills and battons
How are the photographs with low light or without light?? Someone have an experience?
What if my main use for this camera is to take photos? Would this suffice? Especially at night.
I have one of these coming in the mail tomorrow!
Same!
Yall like them ?
@@nayborhood.p Its pretty good!
what’s better? g7x or this one?
Thanks for the review. 📷 Canon SX740 vs Sony HX99 please. 👍😊
I don't have the HX99 anymore unfortunately but I think I like how the image out of the SX740 looks better.
mine has a filter when I use it, i don’t know how to remove it, it looks soft and blurry :(
You forgot that it's a ( or at least it like) PowerShot model, and it has it's features and drawbacks.
Focus of the video is on....video! What about still photos (I'm most interested in)?!?? How about indoors and without flash, how do pics turn out??
I was hoping to get this last year, but I had to settle with a Nikon Coolpix B600 (which is doggy doo-doo). This year, I will hopefully be able to get it before it gets killed off...
Bought this a few months ago because of the zoom lens and it works great as a "B" camera or even my primary when I'm just doing my daily walks! I forgot how much easier/faster/better it is compared to my phone. It's a shame that this is the end of the line for compact cameras. I was hoping Canon would put out a 750 model by now.
How is the inage quality as compare to todays iphone or samsung?
what's the music at the beginning of all your videos?
Good review. Just wish you would have included some low-light tests.
I have had this camera since it first came out. Absolutely excellent in EVERY way but one. It really eats battery power, especially shooting 4K. The battery designed for it is inadequately small.
hi! do you know how long the battery last with recording 4k videos?
@@nguyennamviet1858 It only lasts about 10-15 mins in 4k mode. When shooting 1080, you can get 30-45 minutes of continuous recording out of it.
How does this camera perform in low light settings at a concert
Is this camra good for sit down videos?!
Me and my girl got her little brother this for recording trains. Hopefully it picks up the speeding trains blowing horns great
Does it autofocus while zooming video?
Would you recommend this camera for shooting pictures?
I got two of those cameras both from amazon, they both had the same problem of grainy ugly video, and terrible audio. I tried everything and nothing turned out good, I returned both and now i don't trust the camera.
I still use my old cannon Sx740 .It stil working and convenient .
Try to use it on 1080p, this will eliminate the cropped look of the video. For what's it's worth, it is a great value of a camera.
And is that guaranteed? Cause if the video doesn’t look so cropped I’ll get one
ED: “I love 4K”
Couple videos ago: “It’s a hassle to edit!!!!”
I did say in this video 4k isn't the only thing you should consider, plus the a roll for this video was shot in 1080p.
And for the reference, in 3:26 He Mentioned that he preferred 1080 personally...
Is the SX740 only for vlogging
that IS nice. I'd compare it too the Sony Point of Shoot, of Course the Sony DSC-HX80 because it had the flip screen and it only shoots in 1080p and My First camera Now IS the Lumix G7 as you know of course..lol BUT...nice review none the less.
I may buy this camera but will never use it at 4k (I see no difference) 60p 1080p is the way to go. You said you recorded this at 1080p in the settings it is auto 480p. I clicked it on and tried to watch it at 2019p but every 5 seconds in would start buffering so I watched it at 1080p and every was fine. The only cameras I ever had were the Kodak pocket cameras from decades ago long before you were born. I bought the Sony CX-405 Camcorder a few weeks ago, so if I buy this one I will have the best of both worlds How long does the battery last and can it be recharged? Thanks for a great review. PS. I never use the manual settings way to complicated for this 70+ year old man.
How to film in slow motion with this camera?
what is better over all hx99 or sx740?
I RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS CAMERA AND I REALLY LOVE IT! ITS SIMPLY AND NOT THAT EXPENSIVE..I WOULD RECOMMEND IS YOU WANT SOMETHING SIMPLY
Hi Marly, are you used the cámara with low light or without light, how are the images? For example did you take photos to the moon? Can you share you experience or comments...
Do you think this is a good entry level vlog camera? Me and GF plan on starting a vlog channel and obviously don’t want to spend too much so we’re in the max 400$ price range. This is the only one that has stood out to me due to the great price and flip screen which is a must for my GF. Thanks in advanced for the reply
Same I have this channel for my Custom shoe business but I want to use a camera to start a new channel and vlog. I am tired of using the phone takes up a lot of space but it works.
So im going to my first ever music festival next week and the photography policy reads, “A phone camera or a small point-and-shoot without interchangeable lenses are permitted. No video cameras (Go-Pros are cool, but no poles or extenders) or professional cameras will be allowed into the event.” ….. will this camera be good to go? because I really like it!
If I compare it with Sony Cybershot WX500, which one do I pick? Would you assist please.
Sony is better
I don't know how people get the video so clean. Mine is choppy as hell on 4k 30fps
