Beautiful aircraft
Thank you!
Always satisfactory to have a sight on this excellent aircraft that we don´t get much of a glimpse on the western side of the pond. Danke, Matt!
Thank you Herbert :) It was nice to finally see a Dornier 328 in Bern again. It is quite a rare aircraft nowadays. This one was manufactured in 1993. Great Catch The Dornier 328 is a unique Aircraft
Thank you! This one was manufactured in 1993. Good old Dornier 328 :)
Great footage, and the sound - I absolutely love the sound of turboprops and this video did not disappoint. The Do328 looks modern and sleek, really nice close-ups.
Beautiful, the Dornier 328. Nice catch, Matt:)
Very cool catch Matt. This one used to be a regular visitor in Nancy. Big like 👍😎

Thanks for sharing this one. I am not familiar with the 328, but it has a good fat look to the fuselage, while also looking "swoopy".

Such a fine Video Matthias ! I am far behind in watching your always fabulous Clips. My "beloved"
dilapidated Mac has expired after 13 faithful years ... and now ... I have to deal with compromises
until I can be set up with new & better equipment. So please bear with me my friend. I'll be back . . .
Thank you for your kind words, Karin. It's nice to finally see a Dornier 328 in Bern again.
Oh dear, I'm sorry about your computer. But the same thing happened to me. My good old iMac gave up about 2 months ago. So I had also to buy a new one. I would help you to set up a new one if I would live near in your region. All the best!

Thanks for your kind reply in solidarity. Oh, how I would love to be able to take advantage

Beautiful taking off 😀 Super capture my friend 👏 Greetings from Japan 😀
Thank you so much my friend!
That sound looks like atr 72-600
Thank you for your comment! While the sound may be similar to the ATR 72-600, the aircraft featured in the video is actually a Dornier 328. The Dornier 328 is a regional turboprop aircraft known for its versatility and reliability. It has a cruising speed of around 348 knots (400 mph) and can carry up to 33 passengers. It's a unique and impressive aircraft in its own right. Thank you for watching! 😊🛫
Wie immer richtig klasse!
Vielen Dank!
Is this Aircraft for sale. How do get in touch with some who I can buy from. Thanks
Wonderful video Matt! Great catch of this Dornier! Liked!
Thank you so much, Jelmer!
Looks like an ATR!
It has some similarities.
Almost all of the Dornier aircraft have high wing configuration.
Great job Matt! This channel never disappoints!
It was a flight to Mannheim, MHG. Not Ramstein!😀
I don’t recall seeing one of these here in the states. Pretty cool looking.

@@matthiashaenni Thanks for your reply. You are most definitely the “Go To guy” when it comes to getting the skinny on a multitude of aircraft! Best regards!
Very nice catch of a relatively rare aircraft. Nice sound too - can never get enough of the sound of prop pitch changes! Nice work.

@@matthiashaenni As an airliner I'm sure it was a nice view for passengers with the high-wing design!
Yes, you are absolutely right, Mike. The view was always amazing in this plane.
Very very nice and super
Thank you so much!
Many thanks Matt as usual. The Dornier 328 is one of my fav aircrafts. I just wish they would have longer range.
A bit of history. The engines on that plane are PW-119's. It has the turbo of the PW124 (similar to ATR-42s & 72's) except we installed a gearbox of an EMB-120 (?). This was not to disrupt the weight balance. The other engines on the 328 were the PW 305A's. The customers had their choice.
Well, when Embraer found out about that they were screaming that they wanted one too!!! So we built an Embraer version which they called High & Hot or Hot & Heavy, I can't recall which. The Emb pilots told us that the dang thing was so fast that on final approach pulling the throttles down wasn't enough. They had to deploy the landing gear xtra early just to slow the dang thing down it was so fast.
As you can clearly see right after take off it just climbed for the skies.
For our 25th year anniversary the company scheduled for a 30 min ride in the 328 but with the jet engines. I took a video of the flight. I wish they would start to re-build the Dornier 328. That was one great aircraft.
Thanks for the memories Matt.
Thank you so much for your kind comment. Much appreciated. Your input about the engine is definitely great. I will look deeper into this facts. It was nice to finally see a Dornier 328 in Bern again. It is quite a rare aircraft nowadays. This one was manufactured in 1993. We used to have a small airline here in Bern called SkyWork. They used this type of aircraft. I always enjoyed the flights in this turboprop very much. It was almost like being in a private plane with only a few other passengers on board.
But I have good news for your!! A new Dornier 328 is currently being developed, which will then be equipped with hydrogen-electric engines. It will be named the Dornier 328 eco. The cabin will be extended by a good 2 meters to accommodate up to 40 passengers. The demonstrator is expected to fly in 2025.
@@matthiashaenni Wow!!! That is great news Matt. The last time I looked into the used market for the 328 (on this side of the pond) was pre-Covid days. It was much sought after in the pre-owned aircraft market.
Indeed the interior felt like a private jet. At least we could stand up straight in the aisles with plenty of room over our heads. I found the seating arrangements abit strange when I boarded. 2 - 1. Huh ?!? I asked myself. Wouldn't that put the aircraft off-balance? I guess they used the trim to even it out.
I was on a short flight but I can't recall if it had a lavatory. On the ones that you were on Matt did they have them?
I bet that the Dornier people probably had gov't funding for the hydrogen powered version. I also bet that the airlines will want the prop/jet equiped version. There's not enough hydrogen out there to become feasible for regular flights and commutes, at least for the next 20yrs.
Again thx for the info Matt.
Mac😎🤗
Hi Mac, thanks for your feedback. Yes the seat arrangement was a bit special with 2-1 but I always loved it. Yes, the Dornier 328 of our airline SkyWork always had a lavatory at the end of the cabin. I flew a few times from to Vienna and London in a Dornier 328. I always enjoyed the flights.
@@matthiashaenni Thanks for the feedback Matt. I'll let my associates know that you had a great flight. We always strive for perfection, but other outcomes can occur.

Something about the way it hugs the ground, reminds me of a Bae 146 I think.
That is a quiet turboprop 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
Matt my good friend, nice catch, there are a few small regional airlines here that use these planes, not much room for color specs here, lol, but it is a very clean plane, nice smooth takeoff roll to rotate. God Bless You and D from T and I, stay safe
Thank you very much Steve. May I give you the color specification this time? I always call such all-white paintings "Weisswurst" LOL! It was great to see finally a Dornier 328 at Bern again. Today it's raining at 10 degrees here. Best wishes and Gob bless you and T.
@@matthiashaenni Matt my good friend, thank you for the blessing, absolutely give me your take on color specs, when I saw the word Weisswurst, I thought of a sausage here called bratwurst which is a soft white colored sausage( german/austrian sausage very popular in this area) that we eat as my wife is german/austrian, & I think in Swiss it means a soft white pudding ?, I always like to learn new things my good friend, take me to school on color specs, lol, God Bless You and D also from T and I, btw sounds like foul weather there, it is great here today, 80 degrees & sunny
Hi Steve, A Weisswurst is a white sausage. Yes, it is almost like the same as a bratwurst. A white sausage is a boiled sausage made of finely chopped veal (today also pork), pork back fat and spices. It is salted with common table salt, the sausage has a white color. Whenever I see an aircraft in an all-white livery, I call it Weisswurst (white sausage) LOL. Oh T is German / Austrian? Nice to hear. I cannot remember having talked with you about that. Greetings to her and God bless you both.
@@matthiashaenni Matt my good friend, thank you for the blessing & kind words, yes T is of german/austrian heritage/ethnicity, her father & his 3 brothers fought for the U.S. in WW2 , although they were all privates, they were important in Europe as they all were fluent in German language as well as English for translation, all were in airborne infantry, God Bless You and D from T and I. Yes we really like weisswurst, many german folks/butchers in this area, school me on your color specs anytime, I like to learn, btw, brats here are boiled in beer or grilled or roasted, eaten with dusseldorf mustard & sauerkraut/onions on a bun for the most part. Spaetzle noodles & red cabbage vinegar slaw for the sides
👍👍👍, 3 thumbs up, God the Father, the Son, & the Holy Spirit, always 3 on my thumbs up for that reason
