VERY LAST SkyWork FLIGHT! Dornier 328 D-CAAQ (ex HB-AER) Take-Off * Great Turboprop Sounds!

- In this video you see the very last SkyWork flight! With much luck I was able to make this historical and melancholy recordings (7th November 2018).
I stood alone on the spot. Actually, I was there because of the Germania A319. But the Dornier 328 (ex HB-AER) seemed to wake up from the slumber. The machine was on the ground since February 2017 and had been exploited for spare parts over the months. The poor plane was in a terrible condition. From August to November 2018, the machine was repaired with great effort and made airworthy. But suddenly the Dornier 32 was prepared for take-off. I tried to alert my spotting friends. But at the same time my radio receiver crackled. The start-up clearance was passed. After a few minutes, the machine rolled to the runway. The Dornier 328 still wore the usual SkyWork colour scheme, but it was provided with the German mark D-CAAQ (ex HB-AER). The crew let the two PW100 turboprop engines run at full speed for several minutes immediately before the take-off (probably due to safety reasons?). This turboprop sound meant an unparalleled farewell concert. The machine vibrated quite violently (see and hear my video). And then the very last SkyWork aircraft took-off bound for the aviation centre in Oberpfaffenhofen (Germany). What remains are the memories of the great Bernese airline SkyWork.

Nice footage Matt, I always enjoyed seeing your videos of these brightly coloured Dornier's. Sad to see them go, but glad you were able to capture lots of great footage while they were serving Bern.

worked for PSA (us air express) back in the early 2000s and worked these on the ramp. the loudest peircing sound from those props ever. I worked them all saab 340s , dash 8s , ATR. The Do328 was a little beast on takeoff too. DO328 JETs were cool as well.

Aber GEIL!
Diese D328 stand monatelang im Belpmoos. Sie wurde für Ersatzteile ausgeschlachtet und war in einem himmeltraurigen Zustand. Nun durfte die Maschine doch noch fliegen, nachdem man sie rund 3 Monate intensiv repariert hatte.

i love the dornier 328 turboprop and the new 328 eco but i hate the turbofan version cuz the engines look out of place on the straight wing
Das ist insgesamt dann doch sehr traurig. Aber eine ganz klasse Aufnahme der schönen Dornier die so nie wieder fliegen wird.

Nice video Matt, wild livery, but i like it.i know you said sky work went out of business, and this is a different livery altogether. Did you have thes one tucked away in your files ? Just curious. Good to hear from you my friend. p.s. that is not a large plane, but for just 2 props it has some serious power.

One hell of a take off. Like a rocket. Was it empty?
Yes this was a ferry flight. The aircraft was on the ground for almost 2 years!! They needed to test the engines before take-off!

@@Fuzziefeelings Sadly SkyWork Airlines went bankruptcy. This aircraft stood 2 years on the ground and needed an expensive maintenance check. It was flown empty to Germany. It is actually in use again.

In the case of the aircraft being on the ground for an extended period (1.5 years to be exact!!), performing engine run checks is crucial to verify that everything is working properly before take-off. Safety always comes first in aviation.
